Bro. I wish you would get back to making videos and more frequent videos. You’re the first person I’ve come across that doesn’t get on my nerves, naturally funny and real. 1/2" 13 means if you count the threads in a 1 inch section, there are 13 of them. You also know if you turn the bolt one full rotation, it moves 1/13th of an inch, or about .077".

Weld nubs onto the telescoping adjuster and grind down for a tight fit into the receiver tube

Not trying to be a smarty pants but on the tap and die set, the 13 doesn’t stand for mm but it means 13 threads per inch. Just love your videos and I’m working to build one of these sanders myself

yes. shim the upright post and the platen post slide in.

i also drilled a hole on the upright post and put a bolt in to keep the upright straighter. but shims is what will help

Well done👍 I’m just going to buy a 2x48 with plattern frame for 1000 bucks because I already have a motor. It’s the same grinder that Alec Steele uses even though it’s a 2x48 not 2x72 grinder.

I know what you mean!!!! But buy the steel for the frame and weld it up you will see after that stuff comes together and in no time you will have one

They typically go for around 6000 000 to around 10 000 000 lol. Just kidding hahaha i dont know actually id say they usually go for around 30 to 60 canadian? Havent made one in quite a while...but i did make one a few weeks ago with a high carbon insert (non forge weld) i sell them for a bit more because they actually hold an edge.

@@CGSmithing thank you so much. I just recently made 10 of them to sell at my county fair. And I wasn't sure how much would be a good but fair price. I sell 1080 and W2 steel blades for 80 to 100 American for just a 6 to 8 inch blade and they sell like hotcakes. This is my first time doing railroad spikes taking inspiration from you.

I think it has to be a DC motor for that to work. I have not gotten that far in yet. Are you using an induction motor, or DC? I guess I will find out.

Yes you can. You'll need a VFD variable frequency drive. You can then adjust the speed.

All the measurements are in the description like youve seen. I wrote them down just like that then took it to a steel suppliers and they cut them all for me. My buddy welded the fram up for me and then i did the rest after. Since then i bought the base plate and welded the frame to it. And it is still goin strong. I had to shim a few things because nothing fits air tight but it works
