How much do you have tied up in it? I love the performance, and want to copy it, but need to figure out how to make it work with just telemetry, as I don't want to do a full blown FPV+Audio feed. Thanks in advance for the help!

What an awesome little project! I pretty much never use the audio channel on my VTXs. Going to have a go at building one of these shortly!

I always look forward to your videos. You seem to be doing something cool. Can't wait to see how it works on a Glider.

Pretty cool little circuit ! Makes me want to get my 2 meter sail planes out of storage and start flying them again Thanks for posting I am glad that I ran across it maybe I'll pick up a few clones & build a few for winter projects It is going to be a Looong Cooold Winter in NE Oh this only makes me want summer back even more!!!! LOL

another out-of-the-box idea. how about having the audio output (when flying level) just be an intermittent beep, and then go up when lifting & pitch down while losing altitude. Great job once more! Russ from Coral Springs, Florida, USA

If you had two of these sensors and put one on the end of each wing could this be used as a reliable auto-leveler and climb indicator?

Hi, how are you? Do you know how to do if I don't have an fpv transmitter with audio? Thanks! Love your channel

On the forum's diagram, there is a 33uF capacitor between the sensor and the MCU, did you use one ?
@iforce2d
@iforce2d 3 года назад
No, I don't recall doing that.

Can I use this for a full scale glider that has no vario sound at the moment ?
@iforce2d
@iforce2d 6 лет назад
Yes, but I suspect you might need to adjust the scale a bit. This one maxes out (like at 11:55) at rates that might be reasonable for a model, but full-scale could be climbing and descending quicker.

I wonder if at this altitude is possible to measure and detect changes in air temperature but maybe is not much useful in rc planes idk

I think a baro like this typically also has a thermometer, which is necessary to compensate the raw pressure reading and get a proper value. Yep: www.amsys.info/products/ms5611.htm So I think it is continually sensing the temperature all the time - the number is there if you care to record it somehow.

cool, the application note shows how

Could you use an nRF24L01 to send back the vario's signal? Too much interference with the RC Tx/Rx I suppose.
@iforce2d
@iforce2d 6 лет назад
Yes, and probably yes. But since the end goal is audio the VTX audio channel seems like the perfect thing.
@schnuuuu
@schnuuuu 5 лет назад
Why? Just send some barometrics down to your transmitter and create the vario-sound between your hands.

Hi. Really like your idea. One question though, do you have the original design with the buzzer(without the radio transition thing)? Thank you!
@iforce2d
@iforce2d 3 года назад
The original link is in the description. Basically just connect the output to a buzzer instead of to the vtx.

@@iforce2d Would a simple buzzer do the trick or do I need something else? Thanks
@iforce2d
@iforce2d 3 года назад
Some buzzers make the same pitch whenever 5v is applied. Other buzzers only move the diaphragm, so to make a pitch requires the voltage to be turned off and on very quickly. The second one is what you want, so the pitch can be modified. I don't know exactly what each is called though sorry.

If you want to build one for paragliders which sounds like this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2OTXBQcNtwI.html You have to use this code: gist.github.com/EDsteve/2e57fd72ad7cb3c0e737813507e23591

Aussie Mozzie The pro mini is pretty light (< 2g) if you get one on a thin pcb. Some of them have a thicker pcb and weigh nearly 3g.

like one of these ATtiny breakout boards www.aliexpress.com/item/Digispark-Kickstarter-ATTINY85-For-Arduino-General-Micro-USB-Development-Board/32668399070.html?src=google&albslr=227945310&isdl=y&aff_short_key=UneMJZVf&source=%7Bifdyn:dyn%7D%7Bifpla:pla%7D%7Bifdbm:DBM&albch=DID%7D&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=494-037-6276&isdl=y&albcp=756822904&albag=35305934810&slnk=&trgt=61865531738&plac=&crea=en32668399070&netw=g&device=c&mtctp=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgNrQBRC0ARIsAE-m-1xOBUgJ6llQ58H3WyLusQnubGJNeRl4TaJksxHTKGuNyG_jjOyt77kaAnMMEALw_wcB

Looks like it could work. I've never used ATtiny before but I looked into it a little just now, if you replace the Wire calls with TinyWire equivalents (github.com/sudar/TinyWire) it compiles with this memory usage: Sketch uses 4948 bytes (60%) of program storage space. Maximum is 8192 bytes. Global variables use 118 bytes (23%) of dynamic memory, leaving 394 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 512 bytes.

In compare with BMP180 is it better? I would like to make something similar.
@iforce2d
@iforce2d 6 лет назад
I think I saw a comparison somewhere showing MS5611 is slightly better. But for this purpose you would not notice any difference, and the sketch is already set up to use MS5611.
