I want to thank you for this inspiring video. My Wife and I have considered this as a business model ourselves. We live in a northern border state and deal with semi-hot summers and freezing cold winters. This is one kind of business that really helps people and free of empty hype. Thanks again.

I'm actually thinking of starting hydroponic growing for next years tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and beans in my apartment. I think that there is no better flavor than veggies picked at peak ripeness. The grocery stores just can't compare.

I've been trying to start a hydro farm over the last year and, as farming goes sometimes, suffered an almost 100% loss this winter. I had almost given up while trying to start again but this video seriously just gave my passion some new life. This is exactly what I'm trying to get to. Thank you for sharing and the info and inspiration!

I would put a flood and drain on the bottom of the vertical system. duckweed or something if I was in a bioponics system. Since hydro you have to buy nutritarian blends.

It probably wasn't soil. It was probably coco coir or rice hulls. Hydro can be done a bunch of diffeent ways as long as it's without soil. It's still hydro.

Our Dianthus get's used in many ways by chefs, mostly as a garnish and in craft cocktails. The Rockwool that doesn't go out to our customers on living produces goes into our extensive composting program for our soil gardens.

Greenhouses are the problem, not the solution. Consider putting shade cloth over the OUTSIDE of the greenhouse during warm weather.

Nice! If you have $300,000 to $500,000 to build an 8000 square ft greenhouse, massive amounts of equipment and employees, you to can start a small scale hydroponic farm.

How do hydroponic growers prevent the growth of algae in their systems?
@profoundfarms
@profoundfarms 3 года назад
Algae only forms where sunlight hits nutrient-filled water so we try to keep the system covered at all times. Also, algae isn't really bad, it just adds some labor to the cleaning process.

I've done aquaponics before and would love to do it again I have some ideas of how to do it 100% natural. I'm not really interested in hyrdo except to prove it is possible to use 100% natural created nutrients and biology in the system.

@Emeraldwitch30

I'm assuming this is a closed system to the outside. Many greenhouse of this type has a blower to walk through or they check you for critters.

There's no solultion for completely eliminating them with out using harmful chemical pesticides... we use a ton of beneficial insects and organic pest control practices.

From what I've read, rockwool doesn't seem very environmentally friendly or healthy to be around. It can irritate your eyes, skin, and lungs like insulation or asbestos.

I'd have to do a side by side taste test to tell you for sure. I think it would be more noticeable non greens crops. Soil will always be superior because of the relationship between soil biology and plants.

Nature's Always Right I have tried both att the same time. If you have the right balance of nutrients and ph the taste is the same. The hydroponics grow faster, and both methods have their merits!
