In this episode of Super Excellence, McAllen ISD Superintendent Dr. Rene Gutierrez takes a tour through McAllen ISD’s Child Nutrition Program with Program Director Sonia Esquivel. McAllen ISD's Child Nutrition Program serves approximately 30,000 meals per day. That comes out to more than 6.1 million meals each school year! All meals must meet rigorous nutrition standards. What happen to the decline of food in the school district. My kiddos come home everyday hungry. With headaches because the food is unappealing, with taste and texture. They aren't the only ones. They've told me that most of their peers don't eat, so mcallen is throwing away so much food. If the food is anything like the serving given out during covid..I totally understand what they are talking about.

I know that they try and feed the kids nutritional food but , be real they won’t eat most of the veggies and they get thrown away anyway, they should sub it with something more clever, also I take my children to buy breakfast everyday because some days my daughters say that their milk has little chunks, I have addressed it to McAllen school and it changed only for a while , so I don’t take chances I want my child to eat , breakfast is really dry for them they bring them home and not even I will eat that , the concha’s, the pig cookie, the banana chocolate bar, the ARTISAN waffle , none of the kids eat it. It would be nice to see couple adjustments even if it’s just the milk, it’s not stored properly or something because it comes out with little chunks sometimes,

Can they have a longer time to eat and a snack time? My son come home starving. I pack him a second lunch and he always says he doesn’t have enough time.
