That is the book I used in the late 70s when we only had Calc 1 and 2 even though Calc 2 covered multiple integrals not much vector calculus was taught. I bought it when I started E&M Physics, it was a godsend.

Being a collector, wanted this exact edition for years and found a copy for a good price. score ! For me, the cover of the book factors in becoming part of my collection. I will often choose old books vs new, *because* they have monochrome illustrations rather than full color new edition. My first run in with math was a beautiful Fireside Companion that had math scenarios and math puzzles with trolls, foxes and frogs etc, carrying large strawberries and having logical arguments with giants and such. It was written maybe in the 1930's with shiny high quality paper. My parents had that in the late 1960s to mid 1970s.

Not only that you learn from it vector calculus, but also some electrstatics. Awesome book.

If you like thin vector calculus books, I'd suggest "Vector Calculus" by B.W. Lindgren. :-)

Velleman has a Calculus book published by Dover, subtitled "A Rigorous First Course". I think this is the book I wish I started with! It's NOT a real analysis book. It just shows the reader *how to figure out* solutions and approaches instead of memorizing calculations and procedures.

ooh, I need this. Just read through Larson Calculus and most of it was great, but the vector calc sections were a bit brief and stated a lot of stuff without much explanation I felt.

Me: Is this a good book? Others [flipping through pages] : Yes, it covers a lot of informations. So, it's good. Meanwhile, Mr. Sorcerer [sniffing]: Hmm... It smells amazing. It's a nice book. 😅😂 Btw, Thanks for the review sir.

What light books like this one do you recommend for discreet maths or combinatorics?

As a first-year math degree student, I've been pondering the future of math in relation to artificial intelligence. Do you think AI will become so accurate and useful in math that studying it won't be necessary anymore? The idea that AI could excel at proving theorems and finding connections better than humans is a bit demotivating for me. What are your thoughts on this?
