That's a great point! Yes, you could ruin a header pulling that much amperage since most headers are designed for 1A. If you run it on high (.75A) and chained, you would definitely want to connect it to a PSU-powered hub or controller. Even at medium (.45A), you'd have to do that if you want them to be synced. However, if you don't need to chain them, 3 headers is fine.

Sata pwr can provide 4.5A. Most modern MB's have 2A headers

@@Mack_Dingo Most mobos I'm aware of have 1A headers and maybe a 2A header. My H670 doesn't have any 2A headers. Then again it's Asus, and they suck.
