One thing none of these videos warn you about is the fumes when super glue and bicarbonate are mixed. First time I did it they nearly knocked me out. Do it outdoors or in a very well-ventilated area and wear a mask.

There's no reaction. That smoke is just normal for "super glue" when it's hardening. That's the normal glue curing reaction.
@Dranok1
@Dranok1 9 месяцев назад
@@suprememasteroftheuniverse "That smoke" (there is no smoke, no combustion is taking place so no products of combustion are present, it's fumes, as the OP said, from the purely chemical reaction of the curing process) "is just normal for super glue" (which is why the instructions for use tell you to work in a well-ventilated area, like the OP said). "That's the normal glue curing reaction." Quite correct, and perfectly in support of the OP's statement of warning, so why did you start your response with the blatantly incorrect "There's no reaction." It makes the rest of your statement redundant in a daft way: "I can't make up my mind which is correct, the voices are telling me two contradictory facts but they are always true so I believe what they say to me..." Excessive fumes can be quite debilitating for some -- they especially create an acidic reaction to tears, like when you cut onions but worse, and if you breathe them in you can be in a world of pain for a short time. Cyanoacrylate deposition in a fume cabinet is a classic way of lifting evidence off delicate surfaces, for instance, showing how much fumes can be released, and there's even various shots of fumes in this video :-) The OP simply gave a very wise warning _from direct personal experience_ given the abnormal amount of super glue used in these methods, so why go and make yourself look like a fool? I'm sure you're not really...

I’ve been doing this for years now and it is a miracle. Anything superglue sticks to having baking soda strengthens it ten fold. Two things you must remember, 1) you can’t paint over it and for a finish look it is very difficult to make it look clean and 2) this one is very VERY IMPORTANT, DO NOT GET IT ON YOUR SKIN!!! I can’t stress this enough, it will burn you and nearly impossible to get off without taking skin with it!!
@nicolaottomano

Super glue can be easily removed from skin using acetone (the same product used to remove nail polish). Of course it should be always handled with care and, if possible, wear protective glasses.

@@nicolaottomano "easily removed from skin using acetone" Acetone is nasty stuff to be putting it on your skin. Regardless, I think the OP was most concerned with the HEAT from the baking soda and glue reaction. Anyway, as many have posted, do this kind of thing in a very well ventilated place AND wear gloves or whatever to protect your skin.

Those are the two I came to comment on also! I've seen various tricks to tackle a rounded out screw head but never thought to mould a new screwdriver impression on the top -- brilliant! @@dannainanif you have a dead or buzzing string from a worn or cracked bone or plastic nut, or need to raise the action, you use it to fill in the slot that the string sits on. Let it harden overnight, and gently use a nail file to shape the nut to match, then carefully file the slot to the height you need. Also it makes a good filler for a quick repair in the binding, wood, inlays, or saddle on an acoustic.

A big 👍for this Vid. I discovered randomly that wallpaper paste and paper can become very solid. The smaller the scraps of paper, the stronger the connection. If you ground paper almost to dust and mixed it with paste to form a pizza dough-like mass, shaped it into a desired shape and then dried it, you had a very light and incredibly stable mass.

@@clearwoodcouk Yes, it's probably made of the same material, but I was amazed that it was so much harder and more stable than what I know, which is used in egg cartons, for example. Super glue works perfectly on skin. It really should be called skin glue.
@trueriver1950
@trueriver1950 8 месяцев назад
@@testodude works perfectly on dry or dryish skin. It's actually slightly soluble in water, so fingers stuck together can be separated by using a blunt instrument such as the handle of a spoon to gradually prise them apart under running water. It's a slow job, typically ten to twenty minutes, but preferable to paying doctor's bills. Even better if available is to use the solvents designed to remove super glue. Fun fact: Police teams attending protests where the protesters have glued their hands to fixed objects now take the solvent with them as a matter of standard operating procedure, reducing the effectiveness of the protest tactic.

@@FLY2KO yeah…! I tried it out with Super Thin CA and holy crap! Less than 5 seconds! And really strong as well! And you don’t need too much baking soda, just enough for the CA glue to mix with and form a goo! It can be levelled off if you’re ready to work it as soon as you add the glue.

A couple of minutes if it has to soak into wood. Otherwise it can sometimes glue the screw into the hole.

これと同じ原理だと思いますが、プラスチック成型材として、粉に液体をかけて固まるものが市販で売っています。 重曹と瞬間接着剤で出来るんですね! 教えて頂きありがとうございます。
