One of my 2 most memorable Christmas's, was waking up, going downstairs and seeing an N64 plugged up to a tv. ocarina of time and Mario 64 sat on top of their cardboard boxes and I popped this in... Man. I don't wish to be a child again but I hope I never lose the feeling of nostalgia when I go back there in my mind. Thanks mom

I think there’s something special about people who find slowed + reverb songs. Whether you’re feeling sad, depressed, or nostalgic we’re all here because life has put us in a spot where were still fighting but just need a few moments to feel nostalgic or sad and let our feelings surface after hiding them for so long. If you’re reading this I hope you’re doing okay, you’re loved and I hope you can find peace and strength in whatever you’re going through ❤
It's the early 2000s and you wake up on a cold, rainy morning. Nobody else in the house is awake yet. You still have your old Nintendo 64 even though you've had the GameCube for a little while now. You decide to plug in the Nintendo 64 to your living room's CRT. Your old Super Mario 64 cartridge is still in it from the last time you played it. You unjam it from the slot and blow in it a few times before pushing it back in. You slide the power button up and the Super Mario 64 logo springs onto the black screen, and without fail you hear Charles Martinet's unmistakable voice: "It's a me, Mario!"
I remember being 11 years old and we got a N64 in the summer. When it rolled down to winter, my favourite cousin stayed over for the entire winter and I remember when school ended for winter break. That night, our parents were in the kitchen and me, my sisters, my cousin and he brother were in the living room. My cousin and I were playing N64 while the rest of us were playing board games. I think that was one of the best Christmases of my life
It's kind of strange, but for some reason this is the tempo I remember it being. When I clicked on the real version of this OST it sounds way faster than I remember. But this sounds just right.
sm64 had a lot of performance problems on original n64, mostly slowdowns. ddd is one of the levels that had the biggest lag, it was probably because of this lag (slow music). lag can be reduced by changing camera to not render water and many objects.
@@GalaxyJazzGirl was commonly known sm64 had performance issues, that wasn't the only game that had performance issues, Banjo tooie is another example.
I am literally crying right now, I miss our families and friends the way it used to be. I miss the innocence of childhood. I think deep down we’re all kids, some of those harden our hearts to defend against evil. But I think deep down all of us just want to be happy and love one another. Idk man just take me back.

You've never played???? I'm sad for you right now. Such a great game!! That title marked the very first delve into an open 3D environment. Huge deal at the time for Super Mario lovers everywhere.
RIGHT!! I feel you on that. To relate to you, I would do the same. I would go by the water just to hear the strings in the background because they would only come in if you went by the water. memories, oh memories.
The feels my gosh... If only I could be a child again, without caring about anything like taxes, fees and so on... I miss these days so much, when you got back from school at 5PM and the sun goes down, it's hot and you're just excited about one thing when you come home : playing SM64DS...
Life was different for everyone in the 2000s, you and I included. I would love to relive those days, in as much as I'd want to go further back and see the 1980s and 90s.
@@clintgillespie8579, I can't say that I was lucky enough to be alive back in '96. However, a friend of my mom's had a Nintendo 64. Using the N64, I used to play Super Smash Bros. when I was 2 years old with my mom. I glad I can say Super Mario 64 is my first platformer! It's a funny thing about childhoods, each one is different. I could ask one person about his first video game. He might say "Bubsy 3D", one of the most hated games of all time, and have good memories of this game! He might argue how Bubsy paved the way for modern 2D and 3D platformers. The truth is that while "Bubsy 3D" is not a good game, this man loves "Bubsy 3D" for the relief it gave him once from a hard day at school. Everyone should be proud of the game they played first, good or bad, critically acclaimed or not.

I was far too young to grow up with an N64, but I grew up with Nintendo starting with the DS Lite. Something about their consoles and games are so magical. I wish I could’ve played Super Mario 64, but Dire Dire Docks is the only song in the universe that can get me to calm down when I’m panicked, experiencing sensory overload, or stressed out. It’s just so special sounding!
SAMEE, except I only had the Wii and now Switch. This is beautiful, for some reason I feel this deep connection to dire dire docks and inside castle walls, but I never played it in my life. So much unexplainable nostalgia... ❤
The nostalgia is strong with this one. I can't get enough of it. I remember getting an N64 for Christmas in 1998 along with this game. It's one of the Christmases that sticks out to me, and probably the best Christmas I ever had. I recall only getting 2 gifts that year under the tree. One smaller gift, and one bigger, well being a kid I was thinking that I would save the big one for last. So I open the small gift first, and lo and behold it's Super Mario 64! I turn around confused and tell my mom "but I don't have a Nintendo 64, I have a Sega." and she tells me to open the big one next. And there it is! My very own Nintendo 64, the one that came with an additional controller. I remember playing the game immediately and being wowed by how large the world felt, it was truly a sight to behold and marvel at. It's still one of my favorite games to this day. I am truly glad that I got to experience such an amazing game as a kid in the 90's. Thank you mom!

Ohh... I don't know what wizardry this is, but after a few minutes, I remembered the awe and wonder I felt as a kid when hearing the original Dire Dire Docks for the first time. It was like nothing I ever heard before in a videogame and as if everything possible now. Great memories.
I get this exact feeling from this song and inside castle walls, but the weird thing is I never played or even owned an n64? I was born in the Wii era, and grew up on mkwii, so I don't understand why sm64 music gives me so much nostalgia. Beautiful regardless, it almost makes me cry sometimes.
You never know when you're making a lasting memory. But you can never truly re-live it. That's why, as cheesy as it sounds, you need to be mindful and try to love every moment you can. I haven't been successful in doing this. At all. But I sure wish I had been. I wish I knew and appreciated how happy and carefree I was in the past. But I can pop in my Mario64 cart and re-live those good times for a little while every now and again...
I'm 23 years old right now and mario still holds a special place in my heart. No video game or cartoon mascot comes close than some red italian plumber. Not even Mickey Mouse
Not sure why this i so nostalgic to me even though i was born in the 2000s (2006 to be more precise) i grew up playing wii and xbox 360 but i really miss when games had one goal and not micro transactions or tons of skill needed i miss the 90s though i wasant born in that era. But just seeing video games and how cooler games were back in the day it makes you appreciate the games you had i mean we wouldn't hage 3d games if it weren't for mario 64. And to think how mario 64 is still one of the most played and popular mario games ever and it had an entire inpact on gaming itself. I do one in a while boot this masterpiece up with my ice blue n64 from japan. And i wish i could just experience thia game one more time all over agian.
I was born in the mid-90s, just wanted to say it's cool seeing younger folks playing older games. My younger brother is a 2000s kid and also likes playing old games like Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and things like that. Before all the microtransactions, broken or unfinished games at launch which need patches and DLC, loot boxes--there were just good old games which you could buy and play endlessly!
Imagine your sitting down and look at the beautiful windy calm sunny day outside and your just closing your eyes and let the wind blow your hair ✨ and forget about reality for awhile I wish I did that right now since I'm going through so much this year with high anxiety disorder and other things as well .... I hope you guys enjoy your day ✨
The worst part about being an adult isn’t no longer being a kid, it’s not realizing you were a kid when you were one and that you’d never be one again.
The dual feeling of existential dread that you can't go back to the past and the insurmountable chill when listening to this melody is quite the odd feeling...
reminds me of 2014 when i played this first (emulator, don't worry i own the game) i thought hm what a magical level. i stayed for so long that mario went to sleep and i was like "hehe he's sleeping. ahh spaghetti." no joke, left him to sleep for about an hour before i came back lol
POV: It’s 2013, You’re 5 years old, You are at a Chuck E. Cheese and it’s raining outside. They play pbs kids on the three tvs next to the animatronics and you are enjoying your childhood while it lasts Note this, Everything will be fine no matter what, Even if things go insanely bad at the end of the day it’s not going matter forever.
such a relaxing level with such a relaxing bgm i remember as a child i used to believe that i could use the cannon to jump above the little mountains to then explore the sea behind the level and find all sorts of good things in it
This game is so important to me. First game I ever played as a kid. My dad and brother would play too and it was away I bonded with them and other people in the future. Sadly my dad has passed now and I know it's gonna hurt when I boot up this game again or any of the old games he used to play with me like Banjo Tooie or Star Fox 64. He was super accepting of me and was a very good parent and I miss him dearly. I remember when I learned this song on the piano, he said that he appreciated the music more when I played on the piano. Hopefully I'll get to play piano for him in the next life. Remember to call your loved ones and let them know how grateful you are to them! If you have time, use it. You never know when it's gonna run out. I hope you all have a good day or a good night. And let this song ring forever in your hearts in times of need. It certainly helps me, and I think it'll help you too
I love to hear this iconic soundtrack. But even more i love to read the comments while i'm listening. It',s make me so nostalgic and let me think on my best friend back then. Playing on the afternoon and didn't know it was the last time. ❤
Takes me to a happy place in my head immediately. Man do I miss spending rainy days inside playing this and Ocarina nonstop, was the only time my dad would do anything with me.
This version makes me feel kind of lost and alone, but also safe? Like those liminal space pictures of old children’s play areas but there’s nothin scary waiting for me. I’m just finding an exit to reunite with my loved ones who for some reason unfortunately left without me.
Even though I didn't grow up during the N64 days, I grew up playing a lot of old games. One of the games I played the most when I was 7 years old was Mario 64, I have many nostalgic memories Only now, older, that I managed to finish the game in emulator. It was like finishing what I started years ago
This makes me feel a mix of things; Sad, whereas I can’t go back to the age I was of being a kid playing this, Happy, that I have all of those memories, and Hopeful, as I really want this game to get passed down for everyone else to enjoy and have memories of. I had Super Mario 64 DS and loved the game despite it’s worse-for-wear controls. The music, stages, and characters were all great. I really hope that the game can see a remake so I can experience it again. The fact that the new WarioWare has an SM64DS mini game makes me hopeful.
nostalgia. I remember when 16 star was found, I was speedrunning it, and my time was like 9 hours or something, lol. Now looking back, this was the song that filled my head the most.
sadly, mario did not stand a chance against the mighty maw ray EDIT: even as someone who didn't play SM64 i am terrified of the GIANT EEL THAT RANDOMLY BURSTS OUT TO GIVE YOU A HEART ATTACK
I always played the DS version with a modded n64 Mario model in it on an r4 card. It’s all I had on there. Very relaxing. Full of nostalgia. 10/10 Edit: Made me fall asleep within 5 minutes. I have had problems sleeping. I am now your 1,000th Subscriber!

I added this song to a playlist I listen to when it is dark and raining. But that made me sad, because it is not going to rain for at least half a year, or maybe even more where I live.
Nintendo has been my childhood all because of mario But i never got to play one of the games because i was only a child and never had to much knowledge but i only got to watch videos specially SMG4 till now i still dont have Super mario 64 but im probably getting it in the future mario is probably waiting for me to play his game!
It was so real...Maybe it was just a dream. Those times without a care....the golden sun has faded into eternity. We will always meet again my friends..... In another time and place. We are one with the infinite..... ✌️❤.
this was always my favorite track ngl, even as a kid i would take a nap while listening to this while wearing sonic the hedgehog pajamas (yes i was very late to this game lmao)
