Fun fact: Some of the game’s bosses have special dialogue depending on your character choice for when you face them. If you face King Bob-Omb as Wario for example, he’ll be spooked by his crooked mustache or if you face Goomboss with Luigi, he’ll briefly mistake him for Mario! Not all bosses have unique dialogue, but it’s fun to find out who says what to each character whenever possible!
If you face gomboss as Mario he questions how he got out the door and if you somehow fight King boo with yoshi there is no dialogue but if you fight the ice bully to unlock wario with yoshi I think it uses cut dialogue you have to use glitches to get yoshi in there boss battles.
Pity the "So long, King Bowser!" line was replaced with "Bye-Bye!" However this game totally rocks, and I miss it!! I also love the battle against Wiggler and it's funny how after you defeat him and he says you can visit him whenever you like, he just kills himself by sliding through a hole and falling into a pit.
Love the alternate dialogue depending on whom you're using to fight the boss. For instance, King Bob-Omb will comment on how pathetic Luigi's mustache is (and yet Luigi is the one with the higher base Stache stat in the RPGs) while also telling Wario had rugged and unrefined his mustache is. Goomboss (King Goomba) will briefly mistake Luigi for his brother and begin to ask how he escaped captivity before realizing how scrawny he is, but he won't give a rube like Wario the time of day.
And King Boo gets really distraught and frightened when he sees Wario's hideousness. And if you enter the Chief Chilly fight wearing a Mario hat, he's less condescending.
It’s a shame how bad 3D all stars is. No Galaxy 2, 3D Land, 64 DS, and no bonus material other then fricking soundtracks. And the ports are hot garbage. The lost potential.
Nostalgia right there. I remember my younger self never knowing how to get the button that unlocks all the blocks and solo running this with only Mario and Yoshi. Good times...
@@dankcat2292 You know what else is sad? For my entire time playing that game when I was a kid, I never realized you could make eggs as Yoshi until I saw a video of it a few years ago. Now *THAT'S* sad

Ah, I remember this game. I never owned a Nintendo 64, but this was the next best thing. I honestly liked getting to play as different characters like Luigi and Wario, speaking of Wario, he makes HMC a lot easier. Other than using the Mario cap for the star switch mission, I never saw any reason to play as anyone OTHER than Wario on that level.
Bowser also breaks the fourth wall if you defeat him in the final battle especially if you have all 120 stars in the N64 version or 150 stars in the DS remake
Out of the bosses in the game(excluding Bowser, King Boo and Wiggler, since Wigglers appear mostly as enemies rather than bosses) does King Bob-omb have the most appearances?
@@Jordan_Z936 I don’t think you know what rivals are, Mario and Luigi aren’t against each other in this era, they still love each other, also no, Luigi still tags along with Mario to help him so therefor he’s still his sidekick
when reaches the dark world stage, at the boss when it trows mario says "bye, bye!" instead of "So LoNg, GaY bOwSeR!" (same goes to in the sky) when reaches the fire sea stage, at the boss when it trows mario says "here we go!" instead of "bye, bye!" or "So LoNg, GaY bOwSeR!"
I really don't see Big Boos, Big Mr I, Big Bully & Chilli Bully as a boss because they're don't have "big bad boss" vibes when I terminated them to get the job done. King Bob-Omb, Wiggler, And King Whomp are considered as main bosses besides Bowsers and others.
this was my second game i ever owned. it was my favorite, then i'd only talk about mario stuff for the next 11 years, and since i mostly played the spin offs, i thought donkey kong and diddy kong were full mario characters.
This was such a fun game because back in 2012 I played super Mario 64 on the ds and I got 15 stars then my ds broke. Then I had an NES so I beat super Mario 64 on that
Scourge I mean, playing it on a 3DS makes things easier. Even if the movement remains at four directions instead of eight like the N64 original. But that camera is still unforgiving in some levels, the DS remake improves that pesky camera so the angles don’t get messed up.
I just got the game I’m getting it on April 19th I’m so exited this video gives me more hype (btw I have the original and I like playing with bowser a big I like throwing him off the ledge and throwing him not far it’s fun try it!)
Character abilities: Yoshi: toungue Mario: none lol Weegee: higher jumps Wario: stronger punches and harder ground pounds Waluigi: if only we was in the game lol
It doesn’t make sense that King Bob-omb has arms, but reglular Bob-ombs don’t. And King Bob-omb doesn’t to seem to have a fuse, probably because of his crown.
This port is seriously underrated, the D-pad does hinder it and playing on 3Ds doesn't actually fix the issue, but it's still mario 64 and a total blast on the go if you have a modest income. (By which I mean you don't have Mario 3D All Stars for switch.)
@@Nicolas-gt2dj actually I find the characters to be my real problem with it as they're required for specific stars and only a specific one can access a specific power. Most of them have pretty fun abilities that add new life, but they're too situational for me. If you enjoy it, then keep on with that mentality, it's more power to you.
Yeah, I actually found it easy to control (probably cause it was my first Mario game tho.) But from what I remember playing it as a kid, I could actually play it really well without difficulty. The mini games entertained me for hours as well! This game will always hold a special place in my heart as my FIRST Mario game that I've played/owned.
@@Daveaintreal it was my first 3D Mario too. I actually played the hell out of it on a DSI, but I much prefer it on 3DS where I have a decent substitute for analog. Still, I have so many great memories of it.
@@michaeloverton04 I also played it on a DSI XL to be specific. Still have it and it still works, but I lost the game. Thinking about getting it again just to see how much I remember
This remake is really good, it’s a shame that lots of people prefer the original compared to the DS remake mainly because the controls aren’t that good on the DS and also people don’t like the small screen. I think this remake added a lot of fun new things such as new playable characters which their own unique abilities (Luigi is the most OP out of all of them). We also saw lots of rabbits everywhere inside of the castle and in the courtyard to unlock new mini games after you catch them. I highly doubt Nintendo will port/remake this for the Switch because the original N64 version is already on 3D All-Stars and if Nintendo were to put the DS version on the Switch, it wouldn’t sell well.
