I love how the details, such as the textures in the xeroxed character outlines and the dust on the original animation cels, are more visible in this new 4K restoration than in the VHS release.
I would love to watch the raw release, I’m not a big fan om removing grain from 16mm films, the grain is part of the charm for me as it’s just how camera’s at the time captured images on the photographic film. I do think the colors are very nicely done. Is it possible that a release can be available that retains the film grain aka is not denoised? Edit: nevermind I just downloaded the file from Nyaa and it sufficiently grained and looks really textured. I guess RU-vid compression denoises the image a lot but watching the 50gb release is very grainy and I love it.
@@iamvulgar8188 have you not heard that that is just taking the special editions and removing the shit from them what I’m talking about is fixing up the original versions from their vhs copies
@@neon5162 Lol, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. The Despecialized editions aim to take it back to what was released in theatres but nice try.
@@iamvulgar8188 well ya thats what they are trying to do and have done a good job but im talking about just using the orginal vhs tapes and clean em up and repairing and digitizing them
But the "original colors" are wrong. That is not how it looked like in cinemas, that is a result of the film fading. Thus, they needed to be corrected. You're free to prefer them, but they aren't what they should be.
