Super Mario Bros. (スーパーマリオブラザーズ Sūpā Mario Burazāzu?) is a 1985 platform video game internally developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo as a pseudo-sequel to the 1983 game Mario Bros. It was originally released in Japan for the Family Computer on September 13, 1985, and later for the Nintendo Entertainment System in North America in 1985, Europe on May 15, 1987 and Australia in 1987. It is the first of the Super Mario series of games. In Super Mario Bros., the player controls Mario and in a two-player game, a second player controls Mario's brother Luigi as he travels through the Mushroom Kingdom in order to rescue Princess Toadstool from the antagonist Bowser.
The game has been highly influential, popularizing the side-scrolling genre. In 2005, IGN's poll named it as The Greatest Game Of All Time. The game also sold enormously well, and was the best-selling game of all time for approximately three decades, until Wii Sports took that title. The commercial success of Super Mario Bros. has caused it to be ported to almost every one of Nintendo's major gaming consoles. Nintendo released special red variants of the Wii and Nintendo DSi XL consoles in re-packaged, Mario-themed, limited edition bundles in late 2010 as part of the 25th anniversary of the game's release.

My mother worked hard for her money. When she bought me a Nintendo it was like hitting the lottery as a kid. But no matter how much fun we had playing these games we still spent a lot of time outside playing with friends. Friends, games, great music and movies. I had a great childhood. Always grateful for that.

It takes about 9 hours to finish the game. Very few people have been able to reach the end zone. Personally I wasnt never able to finish the course outline.

Amazing nostalgia. I played this game from age 4 to 10 in the late 80s and early 90s. Funny how the music and everything takes me right back to my old tv with the rabbit ears. Some of these levels I haven’t seen in over 20 years but it’s like I’m right back there again. Such an awesome era

I'm 30 and I bought an old console at a garage sale for $20 with this game back in 2000 and used to play with my dad! Now 20 years later I'm playing it with my 8 year old son and my 4 year old daughter and they are just as thrilled as I was back when I was 10 in 2000... Good times.

I remember being 9 years old playing this game. Some of the greatest childhood memories were with my friends and this game. I remember thinking when I am 40 years old I will think back to this time. Now I am 41years old. I bought a NES and play the game regular. It is a great nostalgic feeling hearing that music. Sad part is some of the friends I had back then have past on or are no longer in my life. Life changes so much and all we have left are memories.

I agree that all we have is memories. I'm 16 and I've had 9 friends killed and some of them committed suicide. Looking back now, the smallest things mattered the most. It was never the huge things that we accomplished, it was the small things that mattered. I miss every single one of my friends for who they were, not what they did.

@@anak_kucing101 yes they were. It just was a better time. People were more lay back and not all political like now. I feel sorry for the kids today. I remember going out with my friends and doing all kinds of stuff as long as I got home before 10 my parents didn't care. I had a paint ball gun and used to shoot each other out in the woods. Played alot of paint ball and rode dirt bikes made jumps and just had alot of fun. Nowadays I don't see kids getting away with any of that stuff we did back then. Also there wasn't any fear of being kidnapped or something bad happening. We were naive about it but still. It was just a simpler time.

This game is actually very much like Sonic. If you try to play safe and walk slowly, so you can carefully clear every obstacle one by one, you might come to the conclusion that you sometimes lack enough speed to actually clear said obstacles. The trick is often to move fast, get in a flow and risk being hit by enemies. Then you can often clear the obstacles with no problem. It's a very balanced risk vs reward thing. Mario can move at different speeds and I think that's actually a huge reason this seemingly 'simple' platformer requires a lot of coördination and is therefore so much fun to play.

This game has a huge place in my heart, played it non stop, I remember when Sony1 came out and we were out of money so my parent couldn't afford it so I stuck playing it over and over again until finished it whilst other kids were so into Sony games

i was around 7 or 8 and i remember playing that level & all my cousins were screaming at me saying "GO CMON HURRY THE TIMER IS GOING DOWN" or "YOU CAN JUMP THAT HURRY THE FLAMES ARE GOING BACK UP" 😭 like pls im just a kid i'd obviously panic!
