Minor factoid: Doki Doki Panic, or rather an early prototype, actually _was_ going to be a Mario game but didn't render the kind of results the team was looking for So the prototype was shelved until Fuji Television approached Nintendo to make a tie-in game for their _Yume Kojo '87_ event. That's when the game got rebranded to be Doki Doki Panic, only to be re-rebranded as Super Mario 2 once more for North America.

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff I regret not mentioning in this video, and that's one of the bigger ones. Between that and the editing being kinda... meh, and the audio mixing being destructive, I might revisit this video and give it another spruce-up in the future!

i love the DMC Sampled Drums in the prototype for the underground thing. huge bummer that was cut, though the one we got fits the world and dreamscape more

Ive actually been working on one for a while now! The script is pretty much done aside from a couple of things at the end, but recording hasn't started on it. Expect it by the end of this month for sure! Its gonna be a long one lol

1 year old video but you really need to change the emulator you used here, the underground theme sounds slow and inaccurate, i would recommend using mesen x.

Yeah, at the time, I used FCEUX, which was my preferred emulator, but I was dumb and didn't toggle the video output at the time and made the footage look blurry and the audio blows. Granted, the audio was because at the time I recorded it off my laptop, which is :| (if the emulator is using a lot of resources then the audio tends to "crackle" a bit) but now that I have a PC I built specifically for gaming/video editing I haven't run into those issues since! I appreciate the suggestion, and I'll look into using Mesen X in the future!

Yeah Id consider it the weakest of the 2D series probably, outside of stuff like Hotel Mario n stuff like that, it's fine but pails in comparison to USA & 3
