Congrats! This is my favorite SMB. Yes … the fairies were in 3D world and they were probably inspired by this. The ones in SMB2 are called Subcon. Odd name imo.

This game, or an arcade version of Super Mario Bros. 2 is basically the same game as the NES version, but in a PlayChoice-10 arcade cabinet.

Oh wow, I didn't know they made a PlayChoice version of SMB2. I thought they skipped it and went to SMB3. SMB2 is one of my favorite games of all time.

1:14:30 Fun fact… the NES version mixed up Birdio’s and Ostro’s name in the credit. You are correct. So EVERYONE in North America knew Ostro as Birdo … so they just stuck with it and changed his/her name. That’s another interesting fact. The manual for SMB refers to Birdo as he, but that he likes to be called a girl and wear a boy. So it’s like one of the first trans/ Non Binary characters technically. Today I think they have wiped that history of Birdo though and now she is just refers to as a female without the trans or non binary history.

You requested that a few days ago. Requests take months because there are so many requests, unless you support me via paypal or patreon. I don't know how well VF2 works with MAME, but I'd play it with a better emulator if you supported me. That's one of the perks.
