Super Mario Bros Wonder and Sonic Superstars: The 2D Giants New Adventures 

So how do you guys feel about these games? Did you only buy one or both?

You’re probably one of the rare people to give SuperStars any respect at all because every other video I’ve seen regarding these two games also go “SuperStars is trash while Mario Wonder is the best thing ever made”. It’s so annoying.

I remember when I said in my Q&A when I said Superstars is my least favorite game of 2023 because of lack of originality, and you reminded me that it DOES have originality to it. So I’m thinking of giving the game another chance.

I played and finished Superstars, and I'm kind of conflicted with it. I like it, but at the same time, something is off about it, and I don't know what it is. I don't think it's the worst game ever, and I hope Classic Sonic continues to have games because I'm a huge Classic Sonic fan, as you can tell. I wouldn't mind giving Mario Wonder a try someday. I've been waiting to play a Mario game ever since I saw the movie in theaters.

I had fun with Wonder, and I had an….ok time with Superstars.

Another example of petty hate for this game, which is probably caused by Forces, now that you pointed out, is that this game has 3d aesthetics despite playing 2d and that's "ugly" to them. That, and/or they think it's a default rule for Classic Sonic to be 2d and Modern Sonic to be 3d JUST because most of both series' games were always that way.

One thing about sonic fans is that they don't want sonic games to reach a new standard for example frontiers has set the new standard for future 3d sonic games and superstars has set a new standard for 2d sonic games but fans don't want to except that.

I am glad Nintendo actually did new things like new power ups more characters to choose and level variety but it's still Boswer I want a different villain

Either way, I liked this video ! I finally saw someone who appreciates both games for who they are and not just be toxic and say "this is better than that". I started playing Super Mario Bros Wonder yesterday and I loved it, I have yet to play Sonic Superstars but I do want to give it a try once if it's on sale. Anyways, I also want people to know that you can criticize a game that you love, but don't let flaws people point out in a game change your opinion on said game ! I loved the Sonic Adventure games when I played through them last year, sure they are flawed but they are still fun and I enjoy them ! The point every game has to have its downs and don't let these downs people point out ruin your fun and creative experience on a game ! So yeah, I am definitely going to enjoy both games and not be like "Mario is better than Sonic" or "Sonic is better" thing. My friend and I love both franchises and we talk about them quite a lot ! Metacritic scores should also not determine the fun of playing a game, like if you like a game that has a 50 rating on Metacritic score then continue to love it, if you don't like a game that has a 90 rating on Metacritic score then that is fine. At the end of the day, they are just games and you play them to have fun ! Metacritic shouldn't determine what we think of games so don't make a deal about Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros Wonder getting a slightly higher score than Marvel's Spider Man 2 for example (even though Marvel's Spider Man 2 not winning any awards despite getting nominated for 7 of them was pretty disappointing but then again it is the game awards so does it really matter), if you prefer one game over the other then that is completely optional and continue enjoying and having fun with the games ! Sorry, I dragged this out so long, I just wanted to get this out of the way because for some reason some people just can't have fun with a game anymore and I really don't want to be like them and just continue to enjoy as much as I want, I am someone who sees beauty and passion in everything even in bad videogames. Honestly I had fun with both games. Probably more with Sonic since I'm biased. I just think the game is inconsistent (like with most Sonic games) and I just wish the devs would do their jobs correctly when making their games. They need to come up with Ideas and themes, and give them time to develop and fully realise them. Superstars in this case is just very very inconsistent in quality coming off Mania. Despite all that, again: I still had fun wirth the game and its far from a bad game. It may have had very weird choices in game design, the soundtrack so inconsistent, and its way too overpriced on what its asking for. But its still an enjoyable time Is it worse than CD and 4? nope lmaoooo. CD is probably even better than this with just the soundtrack alone, and 4 is literally just garbage. Unlike 4 Superstars actually tries to use the classic gameplay style established in the classics. but I think everyone knows this already

finally someone doesn't the bosses are bad i loved the bosses in superstar heck i say it better then the bosses from the classic game (though making fang getting hit 15 time is a bit overkill) but the rest are great especially the black dragon, i think the reason the fan hate the bosses is because they used to easy and fast bosses which isn't my style, but for normal boss fight it goes for the boss in sand sanctuary boss because it amazing. also tony sonic i loved your content and video are amazing especially the everything wrong with charri5 and best and worst bosses list

Good of Super Mario Bros Wonder: Levels are well designed (Evade the Seeker Bullet Bills is my favorite), Wonder effects are crazy(the Boat one is my favorite), the Bowser Jr fights are decent enough, the badges are great, and the final boss is one of the best in the series. The Bad of Wonder: The airship endings could be better, Kamek should have more involvement, unlocking the Shining Falls Special and Fungi Mines Special levels. The Good of Sonic Superstars: Zero bad zones, Music is overall amazing(ALL of Speed Jungle, Pinball Carnival Act 1, Golden Capital Act 1, etc). All the bosses are really cool. The Bad of Superstars: Some of the music is meh, the three zones with only one act go on a bit too long, the CPUs in battle mode can be too easy(at least from what I've seen).

While I don't hate fang as a villain I do agree that the fight against his mech is completely raging trash it totally the sonic version of jasper batt jr boss fight from no more heroes 2

You know... every time I watch one of your videos... I learn some new things and hear things that really need to be heard. That said, I'll be getting both games for Christmas (as well as a few other things) and from what I've seen... both games look like a lot of fun... although mario wonder is gonna be a struggle because at the time I'm writing this comment, I'm still having controller problems (which, side note, is one of the reasons I haven't gotten through tears of the kingdom's story). As for my guess for your mario ranking.... I'm thinking it'll either be about the characters or the songs..... or maybe It'll have something to do with a certain remake that came out recently... regardless I'll be looking forward to it!Unrelated question (if that's ok), have you played or at least heard of a game called Bugsnax? If so, what are your thoughts on it? I stumbled upon videos on it and found myself liking it a lot. Also, I'm currently trying out Final horizon on extreme mode.... which I will probably regret but I'm here for the challenge... I know that once I find my flame, I'll be undefeatable and break through all the obstacles in my way. I'll probably let you know when I succeed. Until then... wish me luck.... I'll need it.

Honestly, I think I prefer Superstars, if only by a little. Mario's a big name, and Wonder is great from what I've played so far, but the characters not having any bid differences sans the Yoshi's and Nabbit really makes me upset. I've always enjoyed playing games where a certain character would be better suited for certain levels, and that's where Superstars beats Wonder for me. I haven't completed either game yet since I just got them a few days ago for my birthday, but with Superstars, I like how Sonic and Amy are your average characters you get for the basics, while Tails and Knuckles are more suited for easy platforming and exploration.

I haven't finished the game yet, but the bosses aren't too bad except for maybe the final ones. The bosses range from almost entertaining to mildly annoying, but none of them are extremely bad. I'd have a hard time coming back to this game, given that this game fails as a multiplayer game and has a story mode that is 65% playing the stages as normal, and 35% fighting bosses. Pariah said that the best way to play this game is to just play Time Trials since it cuts out having to go against the bosses, and he is probably right. That being said, Wonder vs. Superstars isn't as clear cut as people make it out to be. It's important to acknowledge that while Wonder is the better game in my opinion and others as well, that doesn't mean that Superstars is a bad game. It's a decent game, and while it sucks that they dropped the ball after Mania, we can hate it while also recognizing that it's not that bad of a game.

look dude I'm a sonic fan too but I can see like why super Mario bros wonders outclassed sonic super stars but let's be real here dude comparing other games is...kinda pointless and ultimately a waste of time this just kill the vibe to actually enjoy a game if anything we should enjoy both games dude like honestly stop comparing other games it's pointless you won't get anything out of this and as for sonic fans like come on look at it this was sonic Superstars wasn't a disater at all! I mean the game was still successful and reviewed well...compare to other sonic games and it could've gone better too but still it's still a good game I mean sure it didn't suprass mario wonders but like their review wasn't that bad that people gaslighting 74/100 and 8.9/10 is a bad score if anything 2/10 or 5/10 is a bad review...so sonic fans can still call this as win though.. because it came out a good game.
