When I was little, I was scared of the Bouldergeist, so I had my friend across the street finish the boss battle while me and my little brother stood / somewhat hid behind the couch ahaha
This boss is literally my 2nd favorite boss in the whole game, 1st being kingfin (cmon man you gotta love the battle style). This boss is just so intense!
I'm not gonna lie, the first time I've encountered this guy as a kid, it was hard at first, but then after some time playing and playing, it became the most easiest of them all.
I didn't even know this was a boss in the game until a few weeks ago. thats how bad i was at the game. i haven't even fought all the bosses, including final bowser because my disk was scratched
The damn memories I remember being so damn terrified when fighting him I was shaking with my Wii remote in my hand and at one point I ran away from the tv and got my sister and she beat the boss for me now looking back at it I just feel stupid for being scared of it
Dude it's a giant rock ghost thing with dramatic music that I couldn't even figure out how to damage for the first half an hour of fighting because I was scared shitless of it don't feel bad
He should be in a Mario and Luigi RPG, his health system is like that of a final boss in that series, specially the way his hands act like partially seperate enemies that can regenerate and protect him
As kids, my brother and I both got our butts kicked trying to fight this dude. To top it off, he was… well, at the time, he was quite scary and intimidating to look at. In the end, my brother beat him, but still… it definitely scared the hell out of me back then.
The only things that made this boss hard was the fact that I would sit and wait for the Boos, I’m either right within their range or I just miss them and they collide with me anyway, so I would get hit a bunch.
When playing this boss as a kid, the one thing I would focus on is wanting to swing as many bomb ghosts around me at once. I think the max you can have is six. Also, I would sometimes mess up in the second faze because I would accidentally hit the hands when I was aiming for the head. Still my most favorite boss
Probably my favorite boss from either Galaxy 1 or 2, unless I'm forgetting any. Not only do I like the naming and premise of the fight, but there's a few layers of complexity to this which make it less straightforward than the other ones. If you're not as skilled at the game, choosing between taking out the hands first or going for Bouldergeist directly are both valid options. There's a variety of attacks to dodge, which in retrospect are easy enough given the size of the arena. The premise of using enemies (black boos) to attack your enemy is something I enjoy, and landing the hits while spinning them by their tongues takes a bit of precision. In the Daredevil comet mode, or the time attack Boss Blitz in Galaxy 2, you can fight Bouldergeist with added restrictions; playing safely and playing fast respectively. Both add a neat challenge and difficulty to this boss.
You're actually right, I see him as good final boss material for the Mario and Luigi series, his health system is so similar to the final boss health systems, specially the way he regenerates and has his hands as protection
There was something about this boss fight as a kid that really stuck out to me for some reason. Maybe it was the music, the creepy moans he makes, or the design of him in general, but I just really liked this boss fight.
Normally this boss is one of the easier ones in the game, but where I think bouldergeist really shines is in its daredevil comet. Its so much more intense this time around and the fact that he can regenerate his hands after a bit of time keeps you on your toes and always in a rush. Its great!
When this game first came out I got, got to this boss, shit bricks because it’s fucking scary as fuck, then realized it the greater boss in the game, gg Nintendo, you made me love a boss that made me shit bricks

I remember dying and dying none stop with this boss I was gonna ragequit so hard LMAO 😭 bro… also the 1 life for the boss was total pain in my ass i think it took my days until I actually got it bruh-
