Super Mario Galaxy - Bouldergeist's Daredevil Run 

This boss was almost responsible for the destruction of my Wii Remote.

Nintendo finally did.They finally made a difficult boss along with a hellish mission with it.This boss also has some awesome music!

I was surprised to see how much trouble people in the comments had beating Bouldergeist normally, because (I don't mean to brag) I beat him my second try when I first got the game. So recently I went back and replayed the game, and I died on this guy so many times I actually rage quit.

Oh man watching this video made me remember all the pain and misery I went through. This fucking boss took me forever back in the day, and the fucking daredevil run was worse. I probably died 50 times, and nearly destroyed my damn Wii Remote. It was so frustrating, but then I finally beat the mother fucker and never played the daredevil run again.

I agree. After a while of practice, this mission was ridiculously easy for me to clear.

With this boss, _Super Mario Galaxy_ has more Rock/Ghost-type creatures than the first eight Generations of _Pokemon._

Believe it or not, this was actually one of my favorite bosses to play.

Man, I used to consider this the hardest star in the game back when I 100% this 4 years ago. Now that I’m finally 100%ing it again, this really isn’t as bad as I remember it being. Definitely not the hardest star in the game.

I think we can all agree. The Daredevil missions are by far the hardest parts of both Mario Galaxy games. The Lava Spire in the first game and The Perfect Run in the 2nd were borderline rom hack difficulty. What was Nintendo thinking when they made those?

Hey guys, I finally beat this star yesterday! Now, having been on both sides - that is, having not being able to beat it for such a long time and then now finally beating it - I would like to share my secret as to how I was able to finally beat it! It involved a change in strategy as to how I was fighting him. Before I tried my strategy change, I had found Bouldergeist to be very unpredictable - but there is a way to force his hand and make him A LOT more predictable. You see, I was originally trying not to get too close to him when he had his hands out. By staying so far away from him, that allows him to: 1) Align the freaky boulders into where you are standing, 2) Jab or uppercut Mario/Luigi with his hands, 3) Put his hands down, basically he can do anything he wants to and you do not know what to expect; also, it is more difficult from a control hitting him when picking up Boo Bombs and also more difficult to put the Boo Bombs on target from further away - in fact, I had found myself to move inside to pick up the Boo Bombs to attack him. My solution: Be aggressive from the start! Cramp Bouldergeist by staying on the inside circumference around him. Do exactly what you were doing before, moving around in a circle to dodge him throwing rocks, but just do it as close to him as possible. This way, for one, 1) after he is done throwing his rocks, you will be a lot closer to him - so all you will have to do is pick up the Boo Bombs and attack him - you do not have to worry about moving closer to him. 2) More importantly, however, even when he has his hands out - you should move right on him. If he looks like he is about to jab/uppercut you, give him some space, but still move closer on a diagonal, in order to avoid his hand (this is the part of the fight for which it is most important to cramp him and be very close on him - you could get away with not being close before his hands come out - but the best way to get past the hands part is to be close). By fighting him this close, you are also forcing his move. He will be more predictable - no more boulder edges (thankfully). The only attack he will do is dropping his hands down on the arena floor and this is very easy to dodge because you will see a shadow of where his hands will be landing. Therefore, get out of the way. In fact, the best place to go is to continue to stay really close to him - IN THE CENTER - which is not where his hand fingerprints are landing. As soon as he does this, TAKE YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO PICK UP SOME BOO BOMBS and ATTACK BOULDERGEIST DIRECTLY - WITHOUT having to worry about his hands. Repeat this movement scenario as necessary until all you need is one (1) more hit into his heart again. And by the way, if you get to this part of the fight, I would not blame you if you had to pause the game in order to think about your final move - for example, how to safely pick up a/the Boo Bombs you need in order to get that one last hit. I, myself needed that pause the 3rd time I had gotten to that part of the fight (after getting to the last hit part of the fight 2 times prior, but failing to safely pickup a Boo Bomb and having it walk right into my face), but at least it had paid off for me! After failing just before the final hit of the fight twice, I had just gone back to my new strategy and as you can tell, I was able to get back again, so it worked! For all who think this is a tough boss, please try this strategy! I hope it will work for you! Please let me know if it does! ~J.J.

Guys I swear to God im not lying when I say this. When I fought this boss normally, I died multiple times. But when I did the daredevil comet, I beat him on my first attempt. *SEND HELP.*

To those who are having a hard time with this difficult boss either regular or Daredevil mission the best way to go at it is to take out one of the hands. Once you take out one of them you can get some easy free hits on the head because the hand cannot protect it from that side once destroyed for a good while.

This still takes the cake as the hardest star in the game. Even when 100%

When it comes to daredevil missions. I'm all like "Bring it on!" Ready to give it all that I've got!

Now that it's on switch I can almost break my controller all over again 😌

Definitely one the hardest bosses I dealt with in a Mario game. I had so much trouble on my first attempt, but now I can beat him on every go.

With This Boss.A Single Mario Game Has More Ghost/Rock Creatures Than Every Single Pokémon Ever!

The boss is way too easy, they should have incorporated the three damage K.O thing with this boss.

When I did this mission with Mario, I died SO many times. With Luigi, ironically, I got it on my first try.

But this guy was so easy. Why does everyone say it's hard?

@Overhazard it should introduce a difficulty setting, eg. easy, normal, hard, difficult that will make it less tedious

This was fricking hard for me. Especially when he spawns the rock tower things. Or when he gets his hands.

Everyone says this one is difficult - it’s really not. Bouldergeist’s moves are incredibly predictable after a while

Tarantox is hard only hard to beat if you don't know how to do it. Did you know that he will stop spraying around his slime for a large amount of time when you hit him in his face? This gives you enough time to safely get to his back and hit his... ass.

Also to me Ghostly Galaxy to me is still the hardest Galaxy for me.That damn third star and those freaking comets!

This boss scared the shit out of me when I was little. I died so much I just quit in fear.

That thing and its battle theme could so be a legendary Pokemon...

Hooooooo boy do I remember this boss. I lost so many times when I first fought this boss... and that wasn't even on a daredevil run. I think that the only Super Mario Galaxy star that ever game me more trouble than this star is the final star from its sequel, the Perfect Run. Nowadays, I've played this game so much that I've adjusted to this boss and can usually beat it in one go, but I will never forget the frustration I felt with every death I suffered.

I completed it, but I wish nintendo made the bowser fight this hard...

I don't care what anyone says, this Boss is difficult. A player can make it easier for them if they know how, but if they don't, Bouldergeist will kill you.

also... the ring ocean is called sea slide galaxy and i have to agree that was an epic galaxy

Nevermind what I last said. It seems that, after seeing some more movies, that Bouldergeist had a few more moves that weren't shown in the movie, like him slamming both of his hands down when Mario gets too close to him.

Bouldergeist grew hands? Shoulda brought the Arwing...

I'm wondering, does hitting bouldergeist's arms affect him in anyway other than not being able to use his arm after its gone?

I found out,when he is in his black form with the little red hangy thing,if you take to long to hit him,he will go back to his boulder form.

@EM2118 Dude heres a secret. Get really close to the Bouldergeist. Instead of him throwing punches. He'll do this really slow smash attack and you can just run to the back and hit him with bomb boos.

If only he learned to exploit his powers more efficiently. Then, he wouldn't have had to suffer by Mario's hands so easily.

i got killed every single time because in the original bouldergeist battle i took advantage of the health that i had.

Yeah but that's because swimmings sucks in SMG (at least without a koopa shell). But this ring ocean galaxy thing was just epic.

I actually always thought this was the hardest boss in the game. In fact i lost to this guy repeatedly when i was 11 even not in daredevil comet form. So the first time i played the daredevil comet in this game, when i saw that the game expected me to play this guy unscratched completely i was like "You're joking right?!"

If geist means ghost in greman then it's like boulderghost which explains why he IS a ghost.Most kids would probably think it's just a cool name but geist has a purpose.

This took me like a bazillion tries before I finally beat that stupid pile of rocks with one health. Thank god there are 1 ups in the observatory.

This is an easy boss. Once you complete it it's a lot easier the second time round.

How I did both bouldergeist battles, was tried to just move in a way which is hard to explain, but I can easily get past his hands by doing it. I kinda just paid attention to the boo bomb and his hands and made my way to his body

I just did the daredevil run in 3 tries idk why people are complaining about it so much. Also boldergeist is probably my favourite Mario boss ever. Love his design

Wow, I didn't even know you could just spin to destroy those rocks... I used the bomboos to destroy them, or let him destroy them with punches...

this guy is hard as fuck! after dying to him 8 times in this mission i gave up and stopped playing on my nintendo wii... nowadays i play games on my xbox 360. one of those games is DARK SOULS

Tarantox was the hardest boss in my opinion. It was the only boss that would kill me with a full 6 health points. I managed to beat Bouldergeist first time, although hitting him can be a bit tricky.

OMG this level. When I encountered Bouldergeist the first time I had no trouble, beat him in one try. But the daredevil comet OMG i wanted to throw my remote out a window. I must have tried this at least 50 times.

I have PTSD from Daredevil Bouldergeist. It took me like twenty to thirty minutes to beat him 😂

Now this may be embarrassing for me to say, but the hardest boss for me in smg was...KING FIN it's not that he attacks you or anything it's just he's so hard to hit.

This - along with dreadnoughts garbage dump - is the only star I haven't gotten. I feel humiliated that I still haven't defeated him
