Shield version is emulated (www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2018-super-mario-galaxy-hands-on-with-tegra-x1s-wii-emulator) but the Shield's Tegra is clocked at a higher rate that the Switch's Tegra.

M Jons interesting. The clock speeds might not totally account for the differences in the appearance, since the overall performance looks comparable. I think it has more to do with how they compressed these pre-rendered sequences.

@@mikukumiku In the Digital Foundry video of the Mario package shows that they were able to get Mario Galaxy running natively on the Switch's CPU using the original code, but the GPU and the audio is emulated.

Yeah in some ways it's better but I prefer the colours in the original

It's bad, bad not really awful, one is a port and the other is hslf emulated, the color banding was present in the original.

@@trashtrash2169 I booked up the Wii version and it isn't present. Not even through Dolphin.

@@TheAbsol7448 Most videos of the wii version will be through dolphin which has an option for expanded color depth that almost always gets checked by most users, especially if they intend to record it, and direct wii captures are too low quality to notice, only with default settings will you get the banding through dolphin. Anything that's not 480p or 480i isn't wii.

@@trashtrash2169 it could be just bad capture but colors oddly look better on the NVIDIA shield which might also be a thing on capture but if it isn't it's weird they don't look the same considering the switch has hardware that's very similar to the NVIDIA shield

Folks are saying Full HDMI range causes that issue.

It's not too bright, the other looks too dark, it looks weird.

The Nvidia shield TV and the switch uses the same processors.

Agreed, you can see this very clearly at 4:11. Rosalina is much more blown out on the Switch, so you can see more of her on the Shield. I have no idea why no-one at Nintendo caught this, or cared if they did.

TheRealKrl buy a Chinese one they only have it there because Nintendo needed profit in China and their consoles don’t do that well there also consoles were apparently banned for 15 years so this would be their first experience of these games

@@betterbetter3930 honestly, I don’t think it’s a big issue. You could play in table top with the joycons in your hands. And from my perspective, using the touchscreen was not a problem at all.

@@crunchoyt the 1st thing u said is a great argument but the second the problem is in the original game and console/tabletop mode use motion controls right? that thing allows you to pick the star bits while running and jumping the problem of touchscreen is the fact u need to stop everytime walking/running/jumping to pick the star bits if nintendo implemented the r stick this would be not a problem i mean the nvidea version came before and its emulation and the code runs into the console like the swicth version its probaly a dumb decision to not put that or nintendo just forgot to put that

The Shield looks like a 240p version of the game that runs in 720p on the Wii so yeah don't be attacking me you ass hats

@conservativesworstnightmare you can see the low res filtering around poles and etc on the Shield emulation. Just because they darken an image doesn't make it better
