This was some of the most fun I've ever had watching a speedrun. The couch, the audience, the commentator, the donations, and ganon himself refusing to give up on the hard strats just to show them off to the audience. It was very enjoyable and inspiring. Thank you.
Totally obsessed with watching this run. Great gameplay coupled with great commentary. This is just priceless content. Wasn’t fortunate to donate nor watch this live but I really hope Odyssey comes back for another run with GDQ real soon
Watching this speed run and the one for Tropical Freeze makes me wonder if designers are building their games for three audiences, the casual player, the hardcore player and the speedrunner. I've only ever played these games casually but I always found a pleasant rhythm. Watching someone speed run them, there's a completely different rhythm, to the point that it looks like the same game but feels completely different. My hats off to the designers and programmers who can make an experience pleasant and cohesive across this broad spectrum of play styles.
Im five minutes in and this is my favorite run so far. Awesome technique from the runner, great couch and commentary, and an awesome category. Its really good to see GDQ live and in person again
This is probably the greatest speed run I’ve ever seen! I didn’t even know darker side exists and I HAVE the game. Guess it’s time to get those 500 moons. Nintendo needs to give Ganon a job as a game tester because this dude is a legend. Awesome run guys!!
I normally don’t watch long runs but man Ganon was godlike and the couch was fire, unfortunate luck at the end which was sad cuz they deserved to popoff for that behemoth of a run 😭 still going for every strat and getting it was a joy to watch
I remember being so excited for this part in SGDQ and i got on the stream, was loving it, and then fell asleep because it was like 1 in the morning for me
I was curious about the mecha wiggler patterns so I looked up the spreadsheet and yes, they all have names and even silly phrases to remember the patterns, I love it.
Truly one of the best runs of the event. Not just for the amazing gameplay and chill vibes, but even when things went wrong, ganon and the couch just make it all right. I caught this one live and just had to go through it again so I could pay better attention and see all the fun details with what feels like a bunch of friends just hanging out. 💕
I first heard "blowy joey" from Ryukahr, the SMM streamer/youtuber. Idk whether he came up with it but to my recollection that's when it entered the SMM community's lexicon. Did it migrate to or from SMO? idk.
So I checked, "Podoboo" and "Lava Bubble" are both considered canon names. Based on my research, "Podoboo" is older (as it comes from the English manual for the original Super Mario Bros), while "Lava Bubble" is more common.
3:41 But we will be getting our first PPPowa Moon here very shortly 5:32 But there's our first Mooltie Moon This accent is legendary. I love it. Phenomenal run with phenomenal commentators.
Aren't those technically called Twisters though? No matter how you slice it, Blowey Joey is a community-given name. I'd love to see someone trace its origin!
@@brandonm1708 The joke is that Wario rejected his job at the pizza shop, meaning he missed the chance to use doughs (ingredient used to make pizzas) to make a pizza. Hence the joke: “Did you know that Wario returned his job at the pizza shop? It was the dough he missed”. Also to note that Wario has a popular voice line where he says “OHHHH I MISSED”, so using dough was a pun joke by the donator as well. Hope that helps!
Never watched this type of stuff (speedrunning in an arena with casters) but I really like this format! Them casting what happens and why is super entertaining even though I know these tricks already
What really set it in that GDQ really is back in person, is the Clap every moon. We really can't get that level of interaction from a Chat bar, so SO glad it's together again...
Bowser: "peach is mine now byeeee" Mario: *shows up 3 hours later with a sentient hat, a spaceship, a crap ton of power moons, and having defeated all of browsers henchmen*, "sorry it took me so long!"
Gg to the runner, was really fun to look at, never a second of relief even from a watcher perspective. Also gg to the crowd. I don't always say gg to them, but then I do, they slap.
This video pop up on youtube home page and I think it would be a good time to "revisit" this nice Mario run.. After about 2 hours, I notice ppl are with mask, then I finally realize this is from SGDQ, wow.
56:13 I laughed when you hear Nuke stutter a bit because every time she'd previously tried listing multiple donations she'd get cut off after the first one. She almost said something about it before just shrugging it off.
Always enjoyed limcube's videos on BOTW speed runs on his channel. The runner here and having limcube commentary on top of it was excellent. Favorite run of the show by far! Great job to all involved including the crowd!
Glad that XD skip was done, making this a valid run. In seriousness, such a wild run, congrats to ganon and the couch for an incredible run and experience :)
