I find it really funny how a change in perspective can renew my appreciation for something. I’ve probably listened to Abbey Road a billion times, & at some point I got a little burnt out & had to wonder “why do I like this again?” Then I listen to a Super Mario Paint version of the medley & I’m like “oh yeah, that’s why”.
No other cover of the album has made me feel this way. This renewed perspective on the songs seems unique to this Mario Paint video. Odd, isn't it? It's almost like taking LSD and hearing the same song a slightly different way.
@@Chris-ev9gm I have had arguments from people who think lofi is not just a poor quality recording but an art style that takes lots of effort to make that feel.
@@MsStevo2000 it’s true. Best lofi “sounds lofi” but most importantly “feels lofi” when in reality the final product was scratched and dust added to make it feel “worn”
@Jared Bradley people have hobbies. There is something you do that is a complete waste of time to someone else. You gotta get over that to become and adult.
One of my favorite parts of this video is how there are little moments of harmonies you get to hear BECAUSE it’s made in Mario paint. There’s so much detail here. So impressive
1- You never give me your cake 2- Koopa king 3- Mean Mr. L 4- Polythene Peach 5- She was kidnapped through the bathroom window 6- Golden Flowers 7- Carry that Wario 8- The Boss fight 9- Her Magesty
00:00 - You Never Give Me Your Coins 04:00 - Koopa King 06:19 - Mean Mr. Mushroom 07:25 - Polythene POW 08:40 - She Came In Through The Warp Zone 10:39 - Golden Goombas 12:12 - Carry That Shell 13:50 - The Star 16:10 - Her Toadstool Majesty
Side II Mario's Ultra Hammer Oh! Mama mia! Blooper's Garden Bowser Wants Her (Peach Is So Heavy) Something in the Way Peach Moves Here Comes the Sun-shine
Still sad that “Because” never gets included in The Long One. I always felt it matched the tone and timbre of the other songs in the medley just as well! Oh, bother. Great video btw
That’s as may be but on vinyl or tape “Money” begins side two, and the songs of the medley were recorded together in one single take (minus some things mechanically mixed in later on).
I'm old enough to remember composing with Mario Paint for the SNES as a kid. I was so frustrated by the fact that I was limited to 24 bars, couldn't overlap or sustain notes, and could only compose in C with no accidentals. This is light years ahead of what the original Mario Paint was capable of doing. I'm both in total awe, and also madly jealous that I didn't grow up with this functionality as a kid because I would be a vastly better composer as an adult because of it. Great work.
This is hands down the greatest thing I have ever seen on RU-vid. The time, dedication, knowledge of Mario Paint, musicality and precision is just insane. And "The End." Literally jumped off my chair and punched the air. That drum solo is perfection. This should be monetised and in the millions of views.
Even got the spacing down between The End and Her Majesty. That was great! You have just enough time to actually sing the song before it starts without rushing.
I absolutely love that the 3 rotating guitars solos in The End were done with a different sound, and correctly rotated between them. I saw a performance by some professional Beatles imitation group, and they just had "George" play all three solo bits. I was like "that's not how it works". It's like how some people only have one singer on Comfortably Numb or Time. A huge part of those songs, to me, is that there is a different voice on the different sections.
It says a lot about the skill of the Beatles as composers that you can play this medley through mushrooms and coins and i still sounds just as grandiose
Absolutely amazing work! Love how you added the "Paul, look out" bit in the intro of "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window". The attention to detail makes this video great.
Jesus, what a ride. This captured the nuances and instrumation of the original in a way I would never have thought possible in 8 bit. Amazingly good job.
If you think that's impressive watch this girl play it solo on straight piano. Note for note, including the drum solo: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F2dJgtj0J4A.html
this is one of those lovely moments when I'm reminded of how beautiful the internet can be. I love you @CakeWut and thank you for sharing this with the world, and for making me smile in these dark times 😊💕
Once for "Paul, look out!" Once for the opening chords to Polythene Pam Once for "...and, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make..." Until I listened to this, I'd been kinda down on the Beatles lately. I was feeling Peter, Paul and Mary's criticism: "And when the Beatles tell you/they've got a word "love" to sell you/they mean exactly what they say." This took my cynical edge right off.
I don't know anything about Mario Paint, but you have managed to manipulate it into capturing the essence and the soul of the music of Abby Road. Obviously, the amount of time and effort this took was enormous, but this just feels so ALIVE! To paraphrase a later stage in Paul McCartney's career - ABSOLUTELY I'm Amazed.
Discovering that this exists is one of the best things to happen to me. It made me realise why I love the album so much, it’s like listening to Abbey Road for the first time all over again
Wow this really is great. You nailed the "transcription" so to speak, or translation rather. Really great stuff. Nailed the drum solo in "The End" too ;) nice
