When this first came out, I couldn't imagine mario's graphics getting better than this. Now, after seeing Odyssey, I can't believe how incredible they've become.
To be honest, Odyssey's graphics aren't that impressive. The switch is hardly more powerful than the wii U and the Wii U is comparable to the 360 and PS3. We're talking 10 year + old graphics in a 2018 game. But it still looks great.
This is the only Mario game in the whole series that Mario is short-sleeved. Edit roughly 8 years later: Hey reader, I'm Khaled, the young boy who was about 11 and a half years old when he wrote the most-liked comment of this video's entire comment section (today, as I'm writing this edit, is 1 day before I turn 19 and a half). I want to share some wisdom rather than only bring up a detail I noticed in this game I never even played. Of course, if I had to write my entire life story, it would take days - maybe even weeks. But I'll definitely write about one major part of my life. This was Nintendo, of course. I grew up with a Wii, and I absolutely loved it. Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I've put in more than 1,200 hours into this game (excluding videos and other materials outside of the video game itself that I've consumed). I used to love Nintendo so much. However, I hit puberty in September 2017 at age 12 (only a little over a year after I wrote this comment) and most things I used to like doing didn't hit the same, and one of these was virtually everything to do with video games. Dozens of hours I put into Super Smash Bros. Brawl post-September 2017 were wasted, as I used this game among others to escape my horrid mental health. I felt useless, and that video games added purpose to my life. I knowingly played video games and sometimes watched gameplays and did other things related to them as a newfound young man as an attempt to re-live my childhood memories (where as a young kid I didn't have responsibilities, I didn't struggle with most things that teenagers and even adults struggle with, and every day feels happy, carefree, and innocent), and the worst part was that I never even accomplished this goal. I've sometimes gotten notifications on this comment of people replying to it, and I thought of deleting this and wiping it away from history permanently. However, I decided that it was better to share my experiences. I'm not here to hate you if you play video games while you're already a teenager or man. I just want to offer a different perspective. I care for you, and I don't want you to be alone in your room watching YT videos away from your family like I was doing even before I hit puberty. If you want to talk to someone, I'm here. I want you to find things that you trult love doing. Go explore the real world, not so much the virtual one. Learn a new language, travel, work more for your family, donate to the poor, get closer to faith. I've done all of these and I have been so much more fulfilled than I was when I was playing video games). I want you to genuinely reflect on whether you are happy with playing video games or not, because I know for a fact that I was only happy with them until September 2017. People think that puberty is only about hormones and sex, but really it's a mental evolution too. I played so many video games in different times, and I never got the same amount of fulfilling satisfaction and joy that I got when I played both the same games and different ones as a young kid. I know this is very philosophical and there may be people that are mostly younger than 21 in this video's comment section, but I really do believe in you. I want you to know that you're the only person that knows you the best - not a video game developer, your mom, your best friend, or anyone else. Make sure that you live your real life (not your virtual, digital, gaming, or electronic one(s)) with as little regret as possible. People already lie on their deathbeds wishing they didn't spend so much time working and earning money, among other things. Everything in this world is temporary. When you die, nothing that you've earned inside of these games will be truly worth it. Please don't waste time. I don't actively play video games anymore, and I have no regrets about it. I already have regrets about many things, and playing video games for hundreds of hours after I hit puberty as an escape to problems that I had with myself and others did not help. Please, take care of yourself. Don't fall into peer pressure, or social media pressure, or stranger danger, or any of the truly immoral people and ideas out there. It's a dangerous world. Always listen to your primordial state, your intuition, your 'sixth sense' as to whether something is good (or at the very least okay and harmless) for you or not. Look after your spiritual health, your mental health, your physical health, and everything around it and in between. If you need help and you don't know with what, or you think that you can't be helped or that you can't help yourself, talk to someone. I'm here for you. You got this. I believe in you. If you believe in yourself, no one can pull you down; in fact, everyone will push you to believe in yourself even more. But if you don't believe in yourself, everyone (especially evil people) will always pull you down, more and more until you don't recognize yourself. This life is so short. Please don't think you have all the time in the world; that belief is nothing but a lie.
@Taj James Not even. By today's standards, not even a student would be able to pass making Mario's model. It's a bunch of overlapping circles. A high school student would fail gralhic design with his model.
I don’t understand anymore there’s a whole part of me where I want villains to remain pure evil but another part of me wishing to redeem them after feeling sorry.

Me too, I loved it, added so much more life to the characters😊And I won't lie, I was so excited when I heard them talk full sentences in Sunshine for the first time, I was so surprised since I grew up only with the "Oh"s and "Ah"s from the voice actors😟 I liked Bowser Jr's, Peach's, the Toads and Toadsworth's voices the most, I really wish they would do that again!
12:15 - 12:38 This has to be one of the saddest Mario scenes. Usually Mario is always known for being such a happy-go-lucky character, but this is the first time he's actually felt real despair, having witnessed one of his friends "die" right in front of him. It's pretty sad to see such a happy character feel real sadness for once.

I loved the voice-acting in this game. I genuinely loved it. It's kind of cheesy and over-acted, but I feel like that suits Mario in a way. I'd love to see another Mario game with this kind of acting.

Reusing Old Voice Clips, Later Updates DLC Garbage, sticking with the same Boring Plot for the Mainline Games🤦♂️I remember the GameCube days when u get to enjoy all of Mario Games Main & Spin-Offs imo😞
coolman5242 No that's not true. Peach in the game cube era (and therefore this game) was voiced by Jen Taylor, who unfortunately left and she said the role was "boring". Peach nowadays is voiced by Samantha Kelly, starting in Mario Strikers charged and Mario Party 8

Nope. That scene where he floats over the pool and he makes the waves over the pool and the ground rumbles as he summons Mecha-Bowser was really cool. It also helos that this whole island-wide scheme was all his idea and he performed everything singlehandedly.
Good luck with that. Miyamoto doesn't even want the Paper Mario games to have a proper story anymore, let alone give voices to the main series characters.
To this day I still question each abduction of princess Peach by Bowser. And certain games have given us clues about the possibility of something else 🤔. In some games Bowser is enormous and the possibility seems unlikely but in other games he doesn't appear much taller than Peach. But hey, who knows 😏 with the world of Mario. What isn't possible here perhaps is possible there. Besides which; it sounds as if Peach was enjoying her vacation with Bowser towards the end. And she made no effort to escape. So yeah, I think she Bowser may have the occasional fling. BTW, Peach's voice sucked in this game. But I would like to see a true 3D movie come out in the future of this. The one from the 90s was ridiculous! I think it would be successful in today's market.
She couldn’t bring her self to deny the truth. Because she didn’t want to hurt Bowser Junior’s feelings. Because she likes children. Even if she was, there would’ve been an origin where it takes place before Bowser Junior was born like I would like in imagine was that Bowser won his first round when he managed to exile, Mario and Luigi out of the mushroom Kingdom, so he can have peach all for himself .then like three months later, she’s already in pregnancy and they were too late to stop this, but they were not too late to stop the wedding. After that that’s where Bowser Junior was born through crisis.
+Awesomen64 he had a few lines in Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon... if in horribly broken English... And he has done an Advertisement for one of the Olympic games where he spoke. Again in very poor English. Mario no can talk good. XDDD And Luigi can speak even less English than Mario can.
Because silent protagonists is a trope in video games. Wario and Luigi don't speak either when they're the protagonists of their games, after all - and yet Luigi totally speaks in the Paper Mario games (perfectly understandable English, too) for example.
I have a theory... Super Mario Sunshine is actually a honey moon of Mario and Peach! Maybe it sounds really stupid, but Nintendo officially confirmed Mario Sunshine takes place directly after Super Mario 64. At the end of Super Mario 64, when Peach brings a cake, you can notice two small figures of Mario and Peach on top of the giant cake. Giant cakes with small figures on the top? Seems too much like a wedding cake. As Super Mario Sunshine takes place directly after Super Mario 64, it is quite possible it is a honey moon. Why will anybody go to the exotic island with its friend? This simply does not represent just a friendly behavior, it's clearly something more. Just take a look at the end and you'll understand everything.

I think the cutscenes are like sonic because they have voice acting, I wish Nintendo made mario speak in cutscenes and bring the cutscenes back for some future mario game
Man just rebeat the game again an hour ago, and literally it hit my feelings, this game was literally my childhood, nothing can ever compare to Sunshine's legacy and the GameCube. 🤧🤧🤧
While this game's entire cinematic total run-time is about 16 minutes, it's the highest quality and longest attempt they've made ever since, with nice contributions from spin-offs like Mario Power Tennis-!! The GameCube really brought life to the Mushroom Kingdom~!! (⌒▽⌒)y
It's stuff like this that Nintendo needs to try to do more of; more cutscenes and voice acting especially since it can add character and depth to Mario, and it is a franchise that could use it :)
Bryon Youngblood mario will never have character. the characters have very basic personalities (ie. wario is mean and greedy, daisy is sassy and competitive, luigi is kind but a coward ), they might expand upon that, but mario himself will never have a personality because they want the players ti project themselves onto him. bowser is probobly the most developed character in the entire franchise, followed by luigi. though I too would loke mario and the entire series to have more depth, it just won't happen. we know this because super mario galaxy (the sequel to sunshine) and glaxy 2 got rid of the long cutscenes.

0:28 - Gave me an idea for "Super Mario Sunshine 2": In addition to coming back to Isle Delfino, I would like to see the sequel where the surrounding islands are also major locations as shown on that flight map. There's room for a lot of creativity from new species of characters to aesthetics to even the music. If Isle Delfino had a lot of great places to explore, imagine what you could do on that Crab, Jellyfish, and Turtle Islands.
Because Daisy is less of a damsel in distress and I like her tomboyish personality and she is a way better fighter Then peach I think would make her a Way better mom than peach do you agree?

It kind of irritates me when you hear people complaining about cutscenes like these in video games; saying things like cutscenes are pointless and that they don't care about story or character development, just the gameplay, only to then have people complain that the characters have little to no personality! The Sonic the Hedgehog series is king for crap like that!
I've head people complain about characters not having personalities, but not really about cutscenes in video games unless they're absolutely worthless.
I would actually agree with that. Cutscenes in Sonic don’t give the characters any personality. The story’s are also crap. That’s why modern sonic games are terrible besides Colors, Unleashed, and Generations, which in my opinion the storylines were well written.
I don't understand the hate for this game. It's fun to play, it has good graphics for it's time, and it's the first Mario game with fully fledged voice acting

This game was so packed with personality the gamecube era of Mario games were filled to the brim with it. There’s no enemies like in sunshine in other Mario games and characters talked and expressed emotions
