Yep. Before the Mario 64 apparently canonized her as Peach. I even have that SMB1 yellow cheat book made in the 80's. And in spite of its wild success, SMB3 is no longer canon and didn't really happen.😕

The end battle with Peach is basically like a Mario bros illustration for kids of the breakdown of marriage, the events leading up to divorce and then the divorce itself- in this case Peach represents the evil narc wife, soon to be ex-wife, attempting to attack Mario in a multitude of ways with various weapons (while sitting in that strange propelled vehicle) representative of the various psychological, passive aggressive as well as straight up directly violent methods of the narcissist 🤷🏻‍♂️

* I have a theory: Peach was sick of being kidnapped by Bowser so she took bowsers wife. So, Bowser wanted Mario and Luigi to save Bowsette (Bowsers wife). But peach found out that Bowser became friends with Mario and Luigi so she turned on them, too. And then once they save Bowsette she also becomes friends with them. Geez that was a mouth full.
