I feel bad for the guy on the couch with the hat. Having to look around the player. Also what's up with the pink shirt guy blurting in all the time? He needs to be quiet. The runner and the other two guys are doing just fine explaining what's happening in the game.

Gamers aren't always the most socially suave based on what we're used to seeing on television. He does make some good points that Zoast happens to agree with. If anything, a lot of people on RU-vid just watching can learn a lot about respecting people that are different from them.

I remember using this as a guide when I first played super metroid because I had no clue what to do. I was like 9 or 10 at an after school program and I would have 1 tab with a super metroid emulator and another of this video. Seeing this now makes me realize just how far we've come with speedrunning. Normally where you would do a moonfall to get to the bottom of the room right before the nes mother brain room, Zoast didn't do it, either because he couldn't (which I doubt) or because it hadn't been found yet. Zoast even did Kraid first instead of Phantoon, and it's moments like these that show you just how different 2013 was compared to 2023.

Thank you so much for this run. While I will never be this good, this route was a huge help. Been playing this game for about a month. Took my 100% in game timer from 5:00 (for my first run) down to 1:08 in game timer for my personal best run today. (Not sure what real time would be) I think if I want to get better, I'm gonna have to get off my ass and really learn damage boosting, shinesparking from a jump and get way better at mockballing. And super short charges. Not sure if I have the manual dexterity to get that good.

I just finished SM for the first time, it took me 6 hours and 32 minutes with 53% completion (More or less). I was pretty proud of myself, now I don't now what to feel, what an amazing run, that is zoast's run, not mine. Haha

Yeah, Blueglass is annoying but the dude is always going to be there. Really, the only thing that annoys me is when he argues with a guy like Zoast about something in Super Metroid lol I just say let the guys like Go1den talk about the game since he actually plays it, or Zoast if he prefers.

Not sure why all of the hate on blueglass. I can see how some people find him annoying at times, but quite honestly, I enjoy his commentary during the games. He knows so much about so many of the speedruns, and is consistently putting forward information that is useful to other speedrunners and novices alike. He brings more life to the stream with his enthusiasm, so I'm all for blueglass on the couch as much as possible.

This is how it used to be when I got a new nintendo or super nintendo game back in the days. Everybody just watching , eagerly awaiting for you to pass to the next level, and to be honest gaming was kids or nerds in those days(1980's and 1990s). This is really cool! Super Metroid took me months to beat.

Except they weren't talking most of the time. If you're put on the couch you're expected to explain shit for those who don't know all of what's going on, and when no one else was doing it BG stepped up. He knows when to be quiet based on the fact that he supports nearly everyone's run by showing up unlike lots of people that only show up for their own run and maybe 3 or 4 more.

K100 ^ This times infinity. Blueglass may be a nice guy nobody is saying the contrary. But he NEEDS to shut the fuck up, even the runner was annoyned, hell everyone was annoyed at Blueglass for talking so damn much and trying so hard to be funny. He knows when to be quiet? Fuck no he doesn't, the guy has NO IDEA of when to shut the fuck up and that's a fact, whether he's a nice guy or not, he needs to understand that runners/viewers don't enjoy his constant bickering. Hell I even remember a Metroid run where there was a guy that told Blueglass to keep quiet because he was giving off WRONG information about a certain trick and Blueglass kept disagreeing and saying that he himself was right. I kinda had to mute the video sometimes because I just couldn't take it and I am a not easily annoyed kind of guy.

Just finished this game at 100% for the first time ever. I followed this video as a guide because it was this video that inspired me. So many of these tricks were very hard for me. My childhood can sleep now. Thank you Zoast. xD I totally saved the animals doe.

Awesome run. I remember playing this game as a kid and really enjoyed watching this. As for all the people hating on Blueglass, I think you are being a little harsh. Sure his laugh and random comments got excessive at times, but he was really the only person who was keeping the commentary alive.

Here's a few things I've found. GRAPPLE BOOST: grapple a block or a ripper V. 2, press down to make the beam longer, swing until you have a lot of momentum, and release. This makes you go faster then a normal grapple. WATER SKIM JUMP: you need the space jump for this. Go to an area that's deep enough to make the space jump turn into the somersault you have at the start (can't use the gravity suit for this) but still get into the air from jumping. You will only be able to skim the water while space jumping, but the animation is of the somersault. EARLY WRECKED SHIP (KINDA): you can access the area before the wrecked ship at the start of the game. Wall jump off the side of the platforms and change direction so you land on them, repeat until you reach the top. Jump off the right and you will be by the door leading to the wrecked ship.

I hope Blueglass doesn't take these comments to heart on here. A lot of people don't understand certain medical conditions and often times just want to put people down to make themselves feel better. Obviously he has a neurological condition but all in all seems to have most issues under control. Yes his voice is naturally louder than most, but so what? Maybe accepting people for who they are, clearly nobody running the games or sitting in these rooms have a problem with him being there, so why should the viewers. You can mute the video you know?

+John Elwood Geez man don't take it so harsh. I would never find out about this vid anyway if I wasn't one of those guys. It's still funny (and awesome) anyway, nerds cramped in a room watching another dude play a video game. Also, holy shit the blueglass hate. They aren't commentating for each other's benefit. But when someone is capable of bending an SNES game over their knee and just start busting ass, yeah, some techniques may need to be explained. Otherwise its just wanton abuse. I dig Blueglass. Lastly. When people open this video, the last thing they want to hear is commentary from some other dude who doesn't know sh1t about super metroid. I would have left this video because of him alone. Understood. However, you did the moment you proposed a comment to my simple statement. At then end of the day, you did not have to say anything which showed your personal aggression towards me. I took that Defensively and went against you in a negative fashion, for that I apologize. Alphaenemy, have you ever had some talk while you played a video game? Have you had someone criticize you whilst you played such game? It may be in positive intentions, however, it may come off disrespectful to most, hence why I said this video may turn off newer or future viewers.

My 100% record in this game was in 1996 1:29, but I spent 10 minutes reloading all the weapons in the room before the piterodacter boss to defeat him. I never had a Snes, I only played in the neighborhood playgames, there were a lot of players, so we exchanged game knowledge. I thought I had the world record kkk, I stopped playing SUPER METROID at least 22 years ago, but this 1:29 record was great for me. Today I do not remember anything!
