When I was a kid I thought Samus came from F-Zero due to her toned body akin to Captain Falcon's and the fact she has a Zero suit.

you know what's funny? F-Zero cars in their early iterations were about the size of Samus' Gunship, maybe a bit larger. Samus racing in her gunship wouldn't even be out of place on the track.
