Playthrough of Spitz7564 (formerly Toothy7564)'s Super Monkey Ball 2 mod, "Super Monkey Ball 2: Super Monkey Ball 1 Style". This video completes 60 stages (50 normal, 10 extra) found in the Expert and Expert Extra difficulties.
It's been nearly three years since this mod released, but there aren't many videos of good quality which showcase the entirety of it. That's why I chose to record my own playthrough.

Played on Dolphin Emulator using a DS4 controller.

Such diligent texture work! All the reflective stuff, and the scrolling one on Soft Cream, and the metallic 8 Bracelets; looks very polished. I also really like the numbers on Guillotine’s ramps

I love how colorful a lot of the extra stages are. Orbiters and Conical Slider especially stand out.

Seeing you not rush Stage 14 Toggle but then SEND IT on Stage 15 Cliffs right after was hard to watch

Toggle is way harder to rush consistently without the starting bridge.

really interesting to see all the stages with wormholes just have them removed outright and with the exception of something like expert floor 1 have the layout adjusted ever-so slightly. goes to really show just how under-utilized the whole concept even was. thankfully romhacks for 2 only go to show all the fun stuff you can do with them when implemented in actually fun and unique ways and not just as a way to get off the starting platform and nothing else.

The only stage that I know of that would play worse without wormholes in the entirety of the original trilogy is Spatiotemporal. All of the SMB2 stages don't exactly need wormholes and in some cases, play worse with them. Yes, I even figured out a way to put Charge in, I just didn't because the clip-reliancy of Charge kinda blows.

It’s Super Monkey Ball 2 SMB1 style with gimmicks removed such as starting bridges, switches, and wormholes, and stages were rearranged to match their difficulty, but they are Super Monkey Ball 2 stages as if they were in Super Monkey Ball 1, the worlds and music is from Super Monkey Ball 1 with the graphics being in Super Monkey Ball 2 Also Master only has one stage as entering Master Mode, because no one knew how to remove difficulties However the reverse, Super Monkey Ball 1 SMB2 style is to play the Deluxe’s story mode, however you do have Super Monkey Ball 1 stages in Super Monkey Ball 2 worlds and music, however gimmicks such as starting bridges, switches, and wormholes were not added, and the graphics are still from Super Monkey Ball 2 and only AiAi can be played, and can only play the stages once

Play Deluxe's Story Mode!

Yes just play Deluxe’s Story Mode, only difference is it’s still in SMB2 graphics, there are no starting bridge platforms, no wormholes, no switches, only AiAi can be played though But yes they are SMB2 worlds and music This is SMB1 worlds and music

@@Obstagoon862, I totally forgot about that, the Deluxe’s Story Mode does include some Deluxe Exclusive Stages in Worlds 1-4 Whereas Story Mode Worlds 5-10 is basically Super Monkey Ball 1 SMB2 style, yeah still only AiAi can be played though This is Super Monkey Ball 2 SMB1 Style

Huh, I must just be really cracked at 8 Bracelets and awful at Soft Cream then, unless their difficulties somehow got big changes in this hack. In any case, I was wondering that too, so thanks!

Very disappointed by a lack of faithfulness. I get levels like Wormhole having to be swapped but not Pachinko becoming a regular stage, Bowl being bonus 5, etc
