So I was rushing and awe-struck in the video at the time, so I’m not supper certain I explained what I meant all too well, but what I think was going on there was that since more than 90% of the sun was covered by that point, there was less light coming from the sky above that jet’s trail than there was light bouncing up from the ground. And since today was ever so slightly overcast, the trail’s shadow was able to be seen on the cloud layer above. Yet another very surreal sight to see in-person that may only be able to happen naturally during a total, or *very nearly total* solar eclipse!
