Recently buzzr-tv aired a tournament of champions episode in which Marcia Wallace correctly guessed Olivia Newton-John as the answer to the puzzle with just physical as the clue. A perplexed Bill Cullen asked what does physical have to do with Olivia Newton-John and Bert Convy had to explain to him that was the title of one of her big hits.
i guess im randomly asking but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any assistance you can give me
@@naomibowman6065 I may have come across the episode this was from at some point, but I honestly forget if you ever made it to the bonus game or not. Whether or not you actually did, this amazing moment definitely had to be worth the trip to the studio for you in itself.
The celebrities playing on the successful guessing teams: Tonya Crowe, Daphne Maxwell-Reid, Tom Poston, Paul Kreppel, Vicki Lawrence, Vicki again (Her contestant, Jim Bontempo, won $76K here and eventually appeared on HOLLYWOOD SQUARES about 10 years later.), Lindsay Bloom, Lindsay again (I think it was the very next puzzle.), Vicki again, Vicki 1 more time.
+graperonto They just aired that one today on Buzzr. It was from the 12/25/1984 episode (I'm not an encyclopedia of this stuff -- they happened to mention it was Christmas Day of 1984 during the show).
Password is a great game. The old 50’s black & white versions didn’t have the 5 matched words adding up to the big guess. Game improved over the decades. Now the only thing they need to do to improve the game is a fun jingle if guesses are correct. The 80s version with Bert was just bells ringing. Let’s get something like the Family Feud jingle or the $25K Pyramid jingle that was so uplifting.
My favorite was when LINDA when teamed up with Nathan Cook WON the game by guessing BO DEREK from the only clue SEXY on the board. That could’ve been any answer but she guessed right!!
It is interesting that the Dick Clark puzzle mentions ONLY the NBC show that he did. It does not mention the CBS or ABC shows that he did. _Super Password_ was on NBC.
I’ve watched those 10 1-Clue Guesses on Super Password over and over. Bert Convy’s reactions are classic. One question: How did those stars and contestants get the puzzle right on the first guess? Brilliant! Kenneth A Huang 7/28/22
I really enjoyed the "Tobacco" solution (02:45). Monkey comes close, it give that contest a trip to the Super Password (formerly Alphabetics) end game (02:19).
I think the timing of the program puzzle also contributes to the correct guess e.g. Cheers would be on your mind because of the then-recent changeover, A Chorus Line would be on your mind because of its recent or final run
Surprised that after all this time, no-one has pointed out that Ted, beginning at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1DrT6gb0ups.html , not only managed the one-guess feat with his partner, but managed it _twice in a row_, in their _first two rounds of play_! No wonder he had the reaction he did after the second, where he finally gasped, 'How?!' Burt Convy: 'Now cut that out!'
Obviously I didn't guess any because it's a product of it's time. That notwithstanding, the sheer knowledge/luck these contestants have, I'll never have it!
The first one I didn't get until I remembered Shelly Long. Still, that's really out of left field since Long is a common word too. Danson you'd guess that, but Long?
I haven't seen the episode but it's possible someone used "Shelley" to help get Long and that put the idea in her head. I've seen something like that happen a few times. Still a great guess!
Nona Leibl I still haven't found it yet. Do you remember approximately the month and year which the episode occurred? If not, who were the celebrities on that episode?
Shelly Long was the actress that played on Cheers back then, and then Kirstie Alley took over later. To me that was an amazing guess like many of these.
Those are incredible, even I'd be surprised with that! But, I can't help but wonder if that contestant, Ted (the one whose puzzles were TOBACCO and PIZZA) was that awesome contestant on The New $25,000 Pyramid...
