Here is the bonus round segment from Super Password. The contestant has a chance to win $50,000. Which is the 2nd highest jackpot. Did the contestant win? Bert Convy hosts. Michel Young gives out the clues.
I just saw Michael Young on a "WHEW" rerun!!! And I had not seen him in decades. Now I see him twice on the same day. And here on a Password on RU-vid.
It happen 6 times actually Michael Young was one of them, the others were Comedian Marty Cohn from Solid Gold, Famed Actress Marcia Wallace, Famed Actress Sally Struthers, Edie McClurg and Comedienne Marsha Warfield of Night Court Fame
But the champ in this clip was the biggest Non-TofC winner at the time. Jim Bontempo won $76K on SP in 1988(including a record $12K cashword and Ithink a $45K endgame). He won a Lexus on Squares in 1999.
Bert was a very lovely man. Just before you played the end game he would give you a little squeeze on the trapeziums. It was oddly relaxing. I used it now when I work with kids.
@@2themoon863 The fugitive in question was Kerry Ketchum, who got on the show under the assumed name “Patrick Quinn”-he was wanted for insurance fraud and various other financial crimes. A home viewer saw his appearance on the show, and notified the authorities-and when Ketchum went to pick up his prize money, he was arrested. Since Ketchum lied about his identity to get on the show, this made him an ineligible contestant, and he did not receive his winnings.
This champion became the highest Non-TofC winner in SP history at the time. Marjorie Koster won $59K and change in late March-early April 1986 with Janis Paige and Richard Kline.
This is why Convy was such a horrible host. Over two minutes of chitchat before the game gets underway. Sometimes it went on even longer. Horrible! But I bet the network loved it-less time for contestants to win money
