CHC were running their own little Air America in Chad against the International Humanitarian Law (Law of Armed Conflict). Forcing their civilian pilots to participate in international armed conflict is a crime under the Geneva convention. CHC hold their annual safety conference on 31 March 2014. Have a look at the eminent list of speakers on the seminar webpage. Maybe they should invite a Human Rights Lawyer to talk to William Amelio.
What is the future for the Super Puma now? Norway has banned the Puma for good in the oil and gas industry. The UK and Australia are still not flying them. As a passenger sitting in the back of a Puma going to an offshore platform was an uncomfortable experience. The S92, AW139 and AW189 are much more passenger friendly and comfortable to fly in.
Ohhh if only, the super puma if the companies could adopt now and be assure the clients would also not mind (they don’t want it) then they would choose it. It’s a work horse and does it’s job efficiently. The only problem is with its replacement that Sikorsky rushes the 92, it’s cockpit small window door rattles about during flight and gives half of the pilots that fly it tinnitus, on the other hand the AW139 and 189 are good but are not as well suited for the job off offshore charter as the EC225 or Super Puma. The fact that it’s name was ruined a few times by bad up keep is a shame.

Tobias what is your background to give such a bold statement, give me list of all accidents involving Super Pumas in life span of 35 years 5 million flight hours  and 750 machines built world wide mostly in civilian service, I'm very intrigued to hear what you have to say, Soid Snake you know f..k all about helicopters.
01stuarty I think a quick search on the google is what you need to see what I'm talking about, if you're seriously unaware of all the inicidents involving this helicopter..
He makes a very good point. It's an aircraft with an inherent gearbox design fault and is not fit for purpose. I say this as an offshore worker who used to fly in these. They will not be missed by any of us working in the North Sea.
