In this episode of Fix It Friday we restore a DIY Pong console from 1976 - the Heathkit GD-1380! This Pong console was sold as a kit that you built yourself and would only work if it was connected to a Heathkit TV.
We work out the connections used by its custom input/output port and creat cables that allow it to connect to any television with composite video inputs. Check this rare system out at the next Long Island Retro Gaming Expo!
We now have an online store for modifications and repairs! www.1uprestorations.com

I have one of these I picked up at a thrift store a few years ago. I have a little knowledge of electronics, but not enough to figure out how to modify it successfully and finding a manual for it proved completely impossible. Your video really will help me go in the right direction to getting it working with a modern TV, something I've also wanted to do for years. It's crazy that it uses composite video.

The reason the case has the speaker mounting is this case was used for many different kits by Heathkit, like a clock radio, etc., that's also why you see so much room inside the case that the pong game does not use. I built the GR-900 TV that this went with and also have this complete game, played it for hours back in the day!! Enjoy!
