Brennaisance. That’s an interesting term. Still, really sums up that era of Thomas. He really tried to make the show good again.

While in actuality, that never happened, but, we did get an episode that served a similar role, Henry’s Hero. A Henry and Hiro focused episode that sees the 2 taking on bad coal and start smoking and making bad noises. For the 1st half of the episode, Henry chose to abandoned the 1st job to wait for fresh clean coal to arrive, leaving Hiro to do all the work on his own, he thankfully succeeded. But the 2nd half is where it REALLY gets good, the 2 of them are assigned for another heavy work job, Hiro managed to encouraged Henry to come along. As they do it, their bad coal situation gets worse and worse, but Hiro continues to encourage Henry that they must keep going. However when they climb Gordon’s Hill, Hiro breaks down, leaving Henry as the only one functional. And in definitely Henry’s greatest moments in all the CGI Era, he pushes Hiro and the heavy load up the hill with all his might, managing to make it to the top, and get the job done on time:) This episode was the beacon of light for Henry in the TV show, particularly the CGI era. Up to this point, he was a coward and a scaredy-cat, but this episode changed that, and brought back the “Chad Henry” he was in the Railway Series. And also showed a great dynamic they created with Hiro, that sadly never got explored more after this episode. This Episode was the Super Rescue for the TV Show, having Henry prove just how capable he was.

Minus one. Bear actually looks up to his steam ancestors as they are ANCIENT GODS to him, and is in total disbelief that one could fail like HE did.

I'm going to try my best to explain this because it's a little tricky to understand at first. The regulator on a steam locomotive is basically the throttle and the reverser basically controls what direction the locomotive goes in. When Henry's regulator is stated to be "wide open" it means the regulator is at full power, sort of like a car's gas pedal being pressed all the way down. Steam locomotive reversers have a neutral position for when the locomotive is stationary. This is how they stop Henry and control what direction he goes in. The reason why they can't fix the regulator on the spot is because the crew could potentially burn themselves because of how hot the metal is in Henry's cab. That's why he needs to be "cool". Despite the crew still being able to control Henry to some extent, it's still very dangerous to do regular operation if the regulator isn't working properly.

The regulator controls flow of steam reverser controls the direction kinda like gears. Forward neutral and reverse.

The regulator is the throttle, the “reverser” is a lever that controls how much of the steam from the throttle gets into the piston and what direction the engine rolls.
