Manga is quite different. It begins a lttle differently, with kouichi turning into factor at a different time. In the anime the bad guys were the human-machina and the plot revolves around a parallel universe. That stuff is not in the manga. Manga is definitely worth a read, right now I am around volume 20 and tthe story is getting epic.

Painkiller exists. Its just that it and its pilot are a lot different when compared to their anime counterparts.

Forgot to mention: this is so well-composed, I almost mistook it for the original.

To be honest, while Kitei no Tsurugi was a disappointing opening song, the nonvocal ver. L used as a battle theme actually worked ok. That being said, I do like this one better so far. And hey, as long as Proud's in I can't complain. re: Painkiller; it exists in both versions. The anime version was made out of its initial armored form, which Miu ditches in its first battle (they had to make up weapons for the anime ver). If you watched the promos, that purple thing she was using is it.

Actually IIRC, Sawatari changes his hair after Demtri's death... or to be more exact, he stops styling. And Yurianne has a few different hair styles to go with her various disguises.

The plot is very, very, very different. The art is also significantly better.

I like this version better than the original. I'm really hoping Linebarrel for Z3-2

Do you know which artist? The manga or the anime one (Hisashi Hirai, same guy who did Destiny and Fafner)?

I think Linebarrel has a much more tense feel and is appropriate for battle scenes to it while Kitei no Tsurugi sounds downright whimsical.

The Manga version is way better than the anime imo.

No imo, it IS way better than the anime.

with teh way it's going, definitely a different ending and gag boobs and excessive fan service has been toned down big time. Not to say there's aren't bits here and there, but not as bad as the anime adaptation.

If nothing else, I'm at least happy that the anime gave us some awesome music (namely this theme and, of course, Proud). Also, just checking, but are the character designs also from the manga, or are they closer to the anime's designs (with obvious modifications to certain character's appearances, like Sawatari's hair style)?

I looked at some other vids, and apparently Katou has a mecha of his own, Masaki (along with Glein-Neidr and Naked) is on your side, Sawatari and Yurianne have different hairstyles, Linebarrel looks more badass. And Painkiller doesn't exist.

Now if only they could put Calling with Unity in...
