Nice to see another great title get an import! It's the kind of game I always remember when I play Disgaea. XD I'm probably gonna get this once a physical release is available in local stores. Great review man!
Looks like I'm going to be dropping a lot of money on PlayAsia when I have some money saved up. Three SRW games on Switch is a pleasant surprise for me.
Your Asian version of V has all the dlc downloaded? I wish I had the same treatment for my playasia version of T. Great review. A small suggestion: since each SRW feature diffient mecha animes, it'd be nice to include which titles are involved in the particular game that is being reviewed. Pumped to see that V has gundam 00 and fullmetal panic. Definitly importing this one.
Hey buddy, regarding the DLC, on this Asian version it has 20 already on the cartridge, but I don't know if that is all of the DLC or not. As for the series included, well, it's very exhaustive here. Here's the list: Super Robot Wars V Featured Works : - Invincible Super Man Zambot 3 - Invincible Steel Man Daitarn 3 - Mobile Suit Gundam Z - Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ - Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack - Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash - Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam - Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Skull Heart - Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Steel Seven - Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny - Mobile Suit Gundam 00: A Wakening of the Trailblazer - Mobile Suit Gundam UC - The Brave Express Might Gaine - Martian Successor Nadesico: The Motion Picture - Prince of Darkness - Getter Robo Armageddon - Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact! - Shin Mazinger ZERO vs. Great General of Darkness - Fullmetal Panic! - Fullmetal Panic? Fumoffu - Fullmetal Panic! The Second Raid - Fullmetal Panic! (Original Novel Version) - Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone - Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance - Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo - Space Battleship Yamato 2199 - Cross Ange: Rondo of Angel and Dragon
@@SwitchWatch Project X Zone shares some characters with Super Robot Wars (Sanger first appeared in SRW Alpha Gaiden; Haken and Kaguya first appeared in Endless Frontier, appeared in PxZ, then appeared in SRW: Moon Dwellers). These games share a multiverse.
"I can't think of anything that comes close to visuals they've achieved here" Have you not played the latter Super Robot Taisen OG games for ps3 and ps4? Animations in those make classic games like V and T look cheap. Those are on a whole new level
Can't blame them considering how in OG they can technically go all out with their character's attacks without being limited to basing it off of something. Then again OGs do have to base it off of previous other games but yea
I love SRW T and I have it on the Switch. I had the PS4 version of this game, but I don't have a PS4 anymore. So this game is coming in the post for me on the Switch! I miss Yamato and MightGaine.
Bought this on Vita after your “T” review. Love it so much. I grew up with the original Star Blazers, own the first “season” of Full Metal Panic and finally watched Neon Genesis in netlfix. Sadly not familiar with Gundam so some of the characters are lost on me. Will buy “T” for switch sometime down the road.
Jordan, you may have covered this in other import videos where you discuss Super Robot Wars, but for everyone seeing it here for the first time, the Japanese version of V does have English. I just picked up a copy today and loaded it up.
If anyone is in need still. Fry's in San Diego just got alot of copies of V and X for PS4 and Switch. If you are in the area you can pick up a physical copy of both without having to wait. For some reason they have been getting in things that are usually only sold online. Picked up a Neo Geo arcade stick Pro for mad cheap two months ago from the same place.
Yeah I imported Switch T after the PS4 versions of V/X, and wanted to get the switch version of V since I loved the unit selection in it, and been getting most of my games on the switch lately so I can play on lunch breaks at work
SwitchWatch tough call between V and T to be honest. I tend toward V because I like the roster of V more though the stories of both are good. X just didn’t grab me as much, though I’ll give it more of a try when the switch version drops
O, it's a re-release on the switch! T is great, but every modern SRW is somewhat different if you are like 2-3 titles away. V is nice to add to your library for epileptic plot trees, I can attest to it as I personally own the Vita version of the English release from year 1. Also, I wouldn't mind playing Z again, all the way back to MX.
WOOHOO! so happy to see this is a turn based strategy game.. It means I will never desire to play it, and be richer by whatever the high import price is. Yay! great review of course, thumbs up! (ps before you try and convince me, Mario rabbids is as tactical in gaming as I will ever get, and that was pushing it lol).
I’d really like to give this series a try, but I’m gonna need the cost of entry to be a smidge lower. My tastes in SRPGs can be kinda finnicky and with import costs I can’t quite commit to these. They look real neat though! Maybe P-A will run a good sale on T later this year
Just as a heads up. Switch Japanese shop for Mario kart 8 said Japanese only. But I bought a physical Japan version and it plays English. J e shop isn't always accurate with language options.
FFT and Harvest Moon were like peanut butter jelly from my teens lol. FFT should definitely be the gold standard for turn based strategy/tactics games. I wish they’d create something like FFT full 3d version xD. I would def cry looking at Gafgarion unleashing stuff lol.
I'm one of the few fans of the series that prefers the OG games and characters. Do you know which of the Banpresto original characters appear in this game?
Okay hear me out. I was excited about SWR X when Buddy complex was in the game. And I’m sure theirs other mechas that is love to play with. But after watching the SRW V I’m was sold I bought the game with in minu-seconds!
As someone who's been importing these games since Super Robot Wars a portable it just warms my heart to know that I can finally buy these games much easier that being said I already own all three of them on PS4
nice to point out that the words meant english as many like my friend do not know/understand. man seeing this makes me wish that switch have a proper gundam game & Medabots game
for my honest opinion. the srw z trilogy has the best animation and lots of dynamic kills.. i played this srw v, and feel like less effort on the kill animations.
Its nice review about the Switch ver. of V. Compare to T which has G Gundam and UC series, V has a greater number of UC gundam series including Unicorn (or U.C. depending how you refer to it) and GSD and 00. But really the real fun is Space Battleship Yamato/Starblazers (as far I know about V unlocking the Wave motion gun requires going for the IF route)
I'm looking to get a good turn-based game. After Transistor, I want more of the experience. Dragon quest XI or SRW T/V; which one should I give priority?
T stands for Terra. I mention the story, maybe you missed it. It's decent. Not as good as T's perhaps due to the starting characters, but it's still something fans will love.
Nah Fire Emblem three houses production values and UI look way better, as well as the gameplay, this is good too tho but like comparing it to FE3H isn't doing this any favours so why do it lol
Sushi Now that it had been 3 games of normal super robot wars, I do hope at some point Bandai would try to change the formula a bit... An Xcom like game would be my hope. It's not impossible either.
@@AAhmou They've already done that I think, or something similar to that. Srw scramble commander 1 and 2. I'm not sure, I haven't played the japanese games aside the og ones. There's also srw og infinite battle, a fighting game, endless frontier/exceed, more traditional jrpg for ds, and recently both have been fully translated, and another century episode, armored core like games
I don’t give a shit about this game and I’m never gonna play, I was just searching what I saw my friend playing recently, but this is a FANTASTIC review. It’s so professional, well-made, and most importantly *substantive*. You’re not just doing some boring, dumb, bare-bones review. You described so much very well. I’m subbing to ur channel, keep it up!
I have play this 2 years ago. And I enjoyed this better than x and t. To be honest I prefer roster in t. But somehow the story is well build. You feel the urgency to save those earth ( spoiler warning). And I think the world building is perfect.
I do love how I have the English box for T and V, but T's cart is English, whereas V's cart is Japanese. Dunno how that happened, but the cart defaulted to English, so I'm not complaining. I will be amused if the same thing happens when X gets ported.
Dude. I just got the t and the x. Im thinking of getting the v. It sold me with the turn base and my favorite gundams. The burning gundam and the wing gundam.
I just got the game in the mail today, though I can't seem to download the Early Purchase Bonuses that came with it. I keep getting the Error Code 2813-0055
That's really odd pal. Where did you buy it from? If its play Asia they are really helpful in resolving stuff like this so send them an email. Hope it gets resolved. That error code might be due to the country you are downloading from. Is it an Asian copy? If it is then you will need to download from an Asian store. Hope that helps. Follow this guide to set up other eshop account www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/04/guide_how_to_buy_nintendo_switch_games_from_the_japanese_eshop_-_region_free_accounts
I'll be honest, thanks to you I decided to buy T for PS4, and boy I LOVED IT times 10,000 I want to get this one too, so, If I understood correctly, I can buy it on the Japanese E-shop and It guarantees that I can play it in English right? :)
No. Pilot deaths are plot-mandated and even then, some of them have secret requirements that can keep them alive permanently and even change the story.
So, for someone who hasn’t played any of these would you suggest starting with T or V or ? Also, are attacks auto completed because it looks like fighting just happens without choosing specific attacks.
@@SwitchWatch The game just makes an initial choice (like if the enemy could be taken down with a weaker attack with lower Energy or Ammo cost, it will suggest that first instead of a stronger, costlier attack) but you can also change the counter-attacks.
Sorry mate love your channel but had sell my Switch lite as all this drift issues had my anxiety through roof wish Nintendo had made a more solid product like they used to as I was enjoying fire emblem and looking forward to SMT ah well never mind
@@SwitchWatch yeah but would need old switch then and then pro controller but kinda defeats point of the switch then I kinda wish Nintendo had just made a box console and a new handheld but used sticks off 3ds or ones that didn't break I mean the ps vita was cool
@@Anjin-qg3ie The main series. Obviously OG wouldn’t have them and that doesn’t count(OG is fantastic still). Macross is pretty much only in the older games(it is not in any of these 3), and Eva has all but disappeared lately except for V because of the Rebuild Eva movies coming out at that time. As for classic mech anime in general they are about even with X bringing back series that haven’t been seen in SRW since the 90s, V bringing back Eva and Nadesico and heavily featuring UC Gundam, and T bringing back some of the oldies again from X and finally bringing back G Gundam as well as adding in Rayearth for the first time(technically a classic). In short V has Eva and a lot of Gundams and T has the Gundam variety of V and most of the good older stuff from X, so it is question of how much you want Eva or not.
Well there's no getting around the fact it's easy. Even the hard mode is quite easy. If you want something more challenging take a look at our review of SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays.
@@SwitchWatch I saw that both X and V are available at about $45 USD for the vita and was about to purchase them, but I saw that they're available on the switch too... I haven't even turned on my Vita in well over a year so I was wondering if it would be worth it to get them cheaper on the vita and bring it out of retirement or just go with the switch versions since that seems to be a console that I pick up on a more regular basis
I haven’t played them on the Vita so I can’t tell you much about performance. But they do look swell on the big TV as well as in the palm of your hands
There is an English version already. But it is not being released in the west. The one being released in January (today actually!) is Super Robot Wars X. That is also in English, but not releasing in America or Europe. If you want these you need to buy them from the Japanese eShop or import a physical copy. All of the physical versions of Super Robot Wars have English except the Japanese version of Super robot Wars T. Only the Hong Kong version has English for that one.
X and V have the DLC already on the cartridge (aside from some expensive songs I believe) T does have DLC which you will need to purchase from the Hong Kong eShop. That isnt easy though and I haven’t done it myself
If you have both maybe start with V. Because if you play T first, V will seem like a small step down. (although a few people think the opposite to me, so you can't really go wrong either way)
SwitchWatch ok I will play it in that order then. I was wondering if you managed to uncover anything about DLCs? I am a bit concerned if I am missing any on T and V.
It's been a while since I took a look at T. But for V, if you got the Asian version (same as the one in my video), you should get a DL code for some extra stuff. Small things, but in order to download them you need a Hong Kong eShop account (easy to set up). The actual DLC mission are already on the cartridge.
SwitchWatch Thanks. Will keep it in mind. I will assume it is the same then since I got it off play-asia and it was labelled as Asian version with english.
Does anyone know if it matters getting the Chinese or English cover, or is it just personal preference? I've seen the Chinese cover version going for a good price in the UK, and I personally don't mind the Chinese cover, quite like it in fact, but am I missing anything?
Ive never played SRW games but i wanted to get one for switch. is there a difference between V and T. i personally would like the game to have build fighter mechs and code geass mechs so which one is the best one for me?
@@PhailPhisher i played the X-Omega for mobile and it had pretty much everyone and everything. does the other titles not have code geass? i mean T is pretty recent
X-Omega is different because, as a gacha game, they keep on adding new robots (sometimes even non-robots) to it during one-time events without regard for creating a cohesive, tightly interconnected story for all the series involved. Super Robot Wars games on consoles and non-phone handhelds are very story-driven and they only keep the series that they deem necessary for the story of the specific game. That's why there are some anime that appear in older games but not in newer ones.
@@angelalarcon8918 V came out first. The stories are independent (set in different universes) but V's protagonists appears in T's DLCs set after they finished their adventures in their original universe.
I acquired the game directly in playasia, subtitles in English, it came with a download code, can it be used in a Japanese or Asian account? Nintendo switch
