Good point made. As someone who was concussioned out of rugby, my concussions always came at the start of the season. Harder grounds mean people are moving faster carrying more speed and consequentially momentum into collisions. On our hard tracks at the start of the season after we have had little rain of course there will be more head collisions than in the northern hemisphere.

South African here. I respect the All Blacks. And I especially respect the NZ players and fans. They are generally gracious in defeat. Here is my issue. In SA, it is not often that I hear conversations about the so-called "state" of the game. We don't typically hear conversations about how World Rugby needs to change this or that. I think it is fair to say that we generally accept the rules as they have been laid down and play within them, trying to maximise our strengths to give us the best advantage. For example, the rules allow 8 substitutions and if our forwards are going to give us the best chance of winning then we go with a 7-1 split if it makes sense for that game. However, I often hear NZ pundits like Sir JK and Jeff Wilson talk about how certain styles of play they perceive to be boring must be outlawed so to speak. Firstly, not everyone finds these styles boring - different styles of play are part of what makes the game so beautiful. Second, if you are entertaining but lose, that won't please your fans. And finally, why do these individuals think they should get to dictate the transformation of a game that belongs to everyone, not just one nation or set of fans. Love and respect to all fans of the game 💚

No, Kirsty, the Professor didn't give an OPINION. He gave FACTS & an explanation about how the technology works. The key point for me was that the smart mouthguard alerts a high impact event, which the player may not feel in real time. Hence the bemusement of Strange & ALB. Rob Penney had the best response. Players & coaches just need to get on with it aka waving arms, etc, is pointless. Also great question from Goldie about aftercare for the alerted players. Generally, it was excellent to see a significant decline in the smirking, mocking, zinger chasing, & waffle-banter. Less is less.

16:30 - love this. One of the best things about the NFL is the player/coach mike cam. Absolutely brilliant. Glad the Chiefs have started the initiative. Hopefully Sky takes it on.

I dont know why they just dont mic a random player in every game for insight. Techs there, use it. Also introduce crowd cam like they do for baseball, nfl, etc in the US for crowd involvement. The US knows how to market their teams and interactions. Keeps the crowd engaged.

As some one concussioned out of rugby and yes I can remember one or two of the impacts but others I just got up and got on with it, who has Alzheimer’s in my family talk to people who suffer the consequences of head injury over time before raving about how it can ruin the game.

An excellent point then they were discussing DMac and Luke Jacobson being mic'ed up, especially Jacobson showing his leadership qualities. I would of loved to of heard RMcC7 dishing it out for the ABs as skip. This further engages fans into the core of players that we idolize on the field

Both Landers and Moana Pasifika actually played really well - Landers home crowd and belief got them home. Fingers crossed this is the year Moana emerge as relevant contenders in the same way the Drua did last season.

If these 3 cannot put aside their personal bias and give a better perspective about all the Super Rugby teams and all the players in Super Rugby, then it is time to get some new hosts. JK is particularly bad, he pushes the Blues and Blues players a ridiculous amount while barely giving any credit to anyone outside of Auckland. Up your Game JK, your audience is bigger than just Auckland. I was appalled that a discussion at the start of the show about new up and coming Fullbacks did not even mention Shaun Stevenson, who was one of the form fullbacks last year, just missing the initial All Black WC squad (although he was included as an injury cover prior to the World Cup). Stevenson had a good first up game for the Chiefs and played a key role in one of the tries of the weekend, certainly it should rival the Highlanders try, that was heavily featured. Would Stevenson (and the spectacular Chiefs try .... a try against the Crusaders remember, one of the competitions best defensive teams, not Moana Pacifika) have been over-looked by the panel if Stevenson played for the Blues or Highlanders? Guys, please be better and have a wider perspective on Super Rugby than just the teams and players who you support. The Aotearoa Rugby Pod hosts are able to put aside their bias and give a balanced perspective, time for you to follow suit.

Super Rugby needs to be run by a new organisation. Is there another sporting comp in the world where the broadcasters effectively ignore 50% of the competition? This isn't a go at NZ Rugby - it's the fault of the NZR and RA, who seem to see everything in zero-sum terms. NZ and Australia cannot understand why Super Rugby has failed to kick off...... it's baffling that they still don't seem to get it.

I like this program. But JK should get over the World Cup result. He is alienating Saffers without reason. Most of us support the ABs whenever they play anybody else except the Boks. Some even support the ABs against the Boks. So JK should not base his opinion of SA Rugby and that of supporters on his subjective pre-concieved ideas, because he is wrong. The 2023 RWC is in the past and only now a statistic. SA celebrated the result as a win for the Boks, not because it was win over the ABs.
