Super Saiyan 3 Is Useless  

No he could beat kid buu but in the show he said he held back so vegeta could get to fight and he burned most of his ki . He said he could have killed buu if he went all out from the start but didn't

Goku did manage to master Kaioken with no ill effects so if he needed to (no need with SSJ God Forms now) he could master SSJ3. Frieza was also able to master his Golden Form which had a bad stamina drain problem just like SSJ3.

I think you sort of miss the point of what the transformation represents Even without the reward for having a renewed form in other world, the Babidi arc wanted to introduce dark and light agency to the realm of humans Humanity in this context involves Saiyans, but I will use it to represent creatures who inhabit human form as a merit of physiology (head and shoulders knees and toes, etc) Due to Babidis intrusion on the physical domain, enough worlds collided to bring Saiyans into the fold for the fate of earth. And the result was having characters like Shin learn of the potential humans have Dragon Ball being a gag adaptation on Journey to the West, it represents what a mortal being can do given the tools to strive. Then to take that experience riddled with strife to encourage others to persevere. Goku is the avatar for that purpose. Albeit combining two characters into one from that lore Not that I have a problem with the term useless, but calling it that does go against the grain considering where Goku is at this point in the journey. The only reason Goku couldn't meet Beerus at that level is because he is co-opting his own Saiyan potential. In other words he was still finding utility in old wineskins (physiology) Pikkon couldn't beat Buu despite making short work of Cell and Frieza. All those folks were heroes before Goku entered their ranks. The difference was that they were not gods, only hall of famers. Furthermore it was a VERY special occasion to have a person return from the dead on behalf of heaven. They brought back Vegeta of all people before consulting even the higher order entities such as Whis Obviously by said point none of this was canon, but the fact remains- there where kais, grand kais, supreme kais and the one responsible for overseeing universe 6, Shin happened to be amazed at what Goku and Vegeta were capable of SSJ3 just so happened to take that to the 3rd level and could only realistically be achieved by a being that has a lot of time to live in it, so maybe more than 30 minutes. I.e. Goku's heavenly form Saying that it is useless because say Gotenks didn't beat Buu would be like saying Mystic Gohan had a useless transformation. Theoretically he had more power, but was tricked the exact same way. Maybe it's less that SSJ3 is useless, but more that the foes that can go pound for pound are that much more wicked. Which should ring true for the likes of Kid Buu and Beerus, the "destroyer god"

To sum it up: it’s literally what super saiyan was originally: -A form that was terribly inefficient but if training was done to actually perfect it, would of been possible to have it constantly up to the point it’s just a natural form. It’s just the writer decided to do an aragaki forget and not have that happen again, despite in super they bust out these forms so rapidly and can arse pull them out even when supposedly drained. While at the same time seem to forget about the previous forms or even base form altogether at times which would likely be better to train that then constantly rely on a form that multiplies the power level. Basically good base form means transformations would hit harder. Anyway boredom rant done, toodles.

Honestly, considering Toriyama originally created Super Saiyan to save money on inking Goku's hair, and had Goku's tail removed because he didn't want to have to keep drawing it, accurate.

It’s not a form though. It’s the same form as SSJ 1 and 2, just pushed further. That’s why it takes so much stamina. It can’t be ‘perfected’ because it’s inherently going to use so much power regardless.

It’s not like it’s important or anything, but Goku was getting waxed by Kid Buu. They exchanged blows, and he fared way better than Vegeta did, but Kid Buu didn’t lose any energy or sustain serious damage throughout that entire fight. He was really just messing around until Goku ran out of energy. Was it not for the wish on the dragon balls to restore his energy, and Vegeta running interference so he could charge his spirit bomb than Kid Buu would’ve won with 0 difficulty.

But u right kid Buu wasn't getting much damage at all but at least Goku was able to keep up a lil while others got beaten by the weaker versions. All in all no one could've beat kid Buu straight up one on one though

People don't take Vegito vs Buu as a W even when he was totally able to end the fight, so it's the same for SSJ3 Also, he already said except movies in the end and those are about Toei, not Akira Toriyama

Just like the tail situation, Toriyama decides to make a design choice just to scrap it later because its a hassle to draw.

That's the out of universe reason, the in universe reason is that it drains massive amounts of ki which I view as a sound reason that stops it from being just the same as 1 or 2 as it has major drawbacks.

If he used it on Vegeta, Buu would have awakened even faster and he would waste the rest of his time on earth. He knew it wasn't worth it. And with Kid Buu he wasn't trying to let Vegeta have a turn it was because the form is not that great when Goku is alive because it drains a lot more energy than when he's dead, which in his defense he couldn't have known. I'll give you the fight vs Fat Buu though he wasn't being too smart there.

@Oxymrn Goku would have 2 or 3 hit vegeta at the most so Vegeta wouldn't have been able to do any damage to Goku but on the other hand Gokus time drains faster and if Buu does awaken Goku doesn't have enough time to fight him. If Vegeta hadn't been so stubborn him and Vegeta could have beaten Fat Buu and went back to their fight (there's a what if in Tenkaichi 3 where Kaioshin let's Vegeta and Goku fight on his planet (so there fight so Goku can fight without worrying about time) as thanks for helping him

I think this is the same thing that happens with ss3 forms just at a higher lvl. I wouldn’t say it’s a useless form becuz we see in one DBZ movie it had a use, Goku killed a giant bug demon with that form so I think it really comes down to enemy type and how the form is being USED in that moment. That really only matters if the opponent is stronger than you. Majority of the times it was used the USER wasted it. Goku used it to stall fat Buu, we don't know if it necessarily made him stronger, fat Buu is just too playful and only got serious to fight kid Buu for hurting Hercule AFTER they split. Before hand Goku and kid Buu were more or less even with Kid Buu having some what of a slight advantage. Gotenks is also too playful and Super Buu took advantage of that. The only fight it won against was Trunks and Goku did that just to show Trunks he unlocked another form.

Yeah like in dbz kakarot ss3 consumes ki really fast. I personally stick with ss2 because it looks cooler doesn't drain as much and you can upgrade ss2 to make it stronger

Vegeta was never obsessed with SSJ3. Also, you're mistaking SSJ3 with SSJ Grade 3. Grade 1 is a newly awakened Super Saiyan (so Goku on Namek), Grade 2 is like when Vegeta went Super Vegeta against Cell, and Grade 3 is like when Trunks fought against Perfect Cell. Goku explained to Gohan that the big muscles would slow him down and it used too much energy. That's when he proposes the idea of staying in Super Saiyan all the time until it became natural to them. Which is considered a Mastered Super Saiyan.

No. Even Gotenks couldn't sustain it, and he had mastered it by the time he fought Super Buu; which likely wasn't his actual first time using it. The reason why we know this is because he's already aware of the ki drain the form causes when we first see him use it to break out of the chamber. He knew he wouldn't be able to sustain it indefinitely.
