He meant as in that Goku's Super Saiyan form couldn't stand nearly as much of a chance as his SSJ God form. Apparently 3 seconds later we were proved wrong.
He didnt mean it as in like the super saiyan was weak in any way, he meant it as compared to his god form if he meant it as in super saiyan then yeah that would suck but I think he didnt mean it that way
I wouldn't say his base form is equal to the god form. He absorbed at least some of the power (probably a significant amount of it), enough so that while using SSJ he could still put up a significant fight. But then if this is SSJ1, how would SSJ2 or SSJ3 compare to Beerus in this scene? Then how much is Beerus holding back (supposedly he was fighting at 70-80% power originally, then that was later changed to a much smaller percentage). I think at some point that one has to accept that some of this is probably just for dramatic effect. He needed SSJG to fight Beerus, then the time limit ends to make you think that he's gonna be in trouble, then in his rage unknowingly transforms into his signature form that is recognizable through the world, but since it's pretty much the climax of the movie/fight he's not going to suddenly get his ass handed to him even though that form wouldn't compare with Beerus's power unless he absorbed some of the power from SSJG, which then leads to the need to have Beerus explicitly say that has appeared to happen. But then that raises the question of how much did he absorb if SSJ1 is a 50x multiplier and he's still giving/taking a beating against Beerus, which is a whole other problem of itself that the series has always kind of suffered from since the introduction of power levels, or at the very least since the Buu saga when things became a little more vague. The rationality of this scene needs to be taken with a grain of salt for dramatic/artistic reasons and using the now oh so famous line, "power levels are bullshit."
Gosh, I remember seeing this in the theater. The audience lost its shit. When the fight in the air started you just heard people cheering Goku's name and screaming "Beat him Goku!" It was such an amazing experience.
@@kaylibbmatheson6799 no denying that Goku is one of the strongest Saiyan's alive but Vegeta will always and forever be king and he proves himself in the ToP
Well actually the DBS fight was better and longer than the BOG fight. But if the film had the same fight from Super and same animation as this film had it would have turned out much better.
Goku's line about Beerus using energy attacks against him is severely underrated. The whole fight Goku had no problem limiting himself to nothing but martial arts and strength. Beerus was the one who escalated things.
To be fair he didn't need to he could've 1 tapped him like he did vegeta blue in the Manga. Goku knows beerus was wayyy stronger than him. He says it multiple times with blue kaioken to after fighting broly and beerus's in the Manga easily took out blue evolved and confirmed he could take out Moro who you haven't seen yet if your anime only. Beerus only cares about having fun to satiate his boredom, sleeping, or eating. I'm not surprised he shot first.
0:43-0:57 This animation was just perfect. So fluid and smooth, with awesome rotations, fast paced fighting and the art didn't waver one bit the whole time. The best 15 seconds in the whole movie.
Well, his smoke mostly only looked that good because it was uncorrected. When it showed Black punching Goku and him blocking, those stills were some of the best in the series. And in 66. the greater 3 dimensionality and highlights looked really polished. And 121, AnimeAjay covered that one and praised it quite heavily...but the art of Goku and Jiren in 129 was probably a bit better, if only because it was repeated so much.
this scene, with the song, allows the viewer to actually feel the emotion and adrenaline of the fight between Goku and Beerus. It really pulls the whole fighting together.
Actually Goku didn’t do anything... honestly they weren’t even matched at all Beerus was just suppressing himself heavily he barely used 1% of his power in this fight 😂 all Goku did was satisfy Beerus
@@Jay-hb3ix lmao nah he used at least 10 percent when vegeta in ssj2 mad mode made beerus use 10 percent so he must have used at least 20 or 18 percent of his true power against ssjg or super saiyan
bonsy246 Santiago he didn’t use 10% against Vegeta either 😂 it was confirmed later in Super that they were nothing and still are nothing compared to Beerus
@@bonsy246santiago4 sorry to ruin your fun but if beerus wanted to he could have fucking thanos snapped goku vegeta and everyone who tried to stop him ssg isn't even a match for him its strong but its nothing compared to beerus. Hes the strongest GoD for a reason he took on every single GoD and took them all like it was nothing
Jaylen Hunter Yeah but the kamehameha is the only blast he knows how to do quickly and efficiently so saying that is still dumb I mean what else could it been?😅😅
Salt like animation wise? Yes If you see the old ones gokus fight with frieza has a way bigger explosion than most fights with ssgss That's what I was trying to say lol
Super saiyan was born from anger. Super Saiyan 2 was born from rage and hate. Super Saiyan 3 was born from yelling super Saiyan God was born from pudding
Super Saiyan God was born from a ritual between saiyans to give power to a single individual to stop a god of destruction. Point? If you want to oversimplify things to the max then how about this: Gogeta was born from a dance Vegito was born from earrings Mystic Gohan was born from an old man walking and dancing around Gohan while talking gibberish for like an hour Oozaru was born from looking at a full moon while having a tail Kaioken was taught by a guy who lives in a small planet with a car, an insect and an big monkey/ape Goten and Trunks went super saiyans because there was a "super saiyan bargain sale" (quote: Vegeta) Vegeta raged in super saiyan 2 because a cat gently slapped Bulma's cheeks Botamo exists because of Winnie the Pooh Kale was born because haha Broly broccoli is Kale The entirety of Trunks's original future was destroyed by a blue, oval-headed, childish reject of a god The universe was born because random space particles decided to join in on a huge gangbang that's literally called the big bang
This scene is legitimately my favorite scene in all of anime, you feel the desperation of the situation with goku. If he fails here then the world of characters we came to know will be gone. The music swells as goku powers up into super saiyan and it reminds us of him doing it for the first time. This scene is perfect and no one can change my mind.
You know this brings up a good question. If Goku mastered Ultra Instinct, would it increase the power of his base form? Like the way Super Saiyan God did?
Goku knew he stood no chance, yet he persisted. He adknowledged his weakness and made it his strength. Even knowing he stood no chance this song sparked hope in me.
RIP Toriyama. This movie is filled with everything I loved about Dragon Ball, and Goku's determination to defend his home fills me with emotion every time. Thank you for everything.
DannyBoy32 Without Goku the entire universe would be destroyed.if you watch dragon ball super zeno was going to destroy that universe including the lower universes.but Goku have the other universes a chance by making a tournament.(tournament of power)
@@VersaDile I can't watch the Japanese dub of dragon ball because I absolutely hate her as Goku she would work as kid Goku maybe but not as a full grown man Sean schemmel is the true Goku in my eyes
I'm not even that big a Dragonball fan but when I first saw this scene I was practically glued to my seat and was hyped af, Goes to show how much of an impact Toriyama left even to those who didn't grow up with Dragonball, and for that, he has my respect. Fly on Toriyama... Fly on and rest in peace..
I just can’t believe it’s been almost 7 years since this movie. It feels like yesterday when I saw the English version in 2014 and the fact that Beerus/Bills has been around for almost 7 years is just...wow. He feels fresh and still brand new.
That one momment when you realised that an alien warrior that turned into a god, first started off as a powerful child with monkey tail, a stick that knows no bound on how long to stretch all the while riding a yellow cloud that only accepts a pure hearted person to ride them.....
piccolo: he dropped from his god form to a mere super saiyan. me: mere super saiyan???!!! the fuck that form is written in saiyan legends. it was a dream of all saiyans to go super saiyan
Schemmel can scream... damn. Also I like both Schemmel and Nozawa a lot, but honestly, Schemmel's scream is far more on point. On another not, Piccolo makes Super Sayain sound like something wimpy, just goes to show how much Super Sayain was over used to the point of the legendary warrior being a basic part of life to them.
WhoCanPeliCan I agree with you. Nostalgia coming back again. Piccolo just meant specifically "mere" super Saiyan is t Enough against a God like Beerus. But little did he and the audience know that Goku managed to absorb some of the god power into himself and yet was still going toe to toe with Beerus as if God form never left him. Goku is usually at his best when the fate of the Earth is at stake.
Actually, Goten was around 4 or 5 when he was introduced and Trunks was only about a year older than that. Not much of an argument but had to point it out
damn people really dont know this is in english lyrics: Reality can put you through a test sometimes A trial very much like a power from above All day, all night, you know sometimes it makes you sick to the bone But you’ll never let go or give up the fight, You’re the one who showed me how to see the light Oh yeah, all right, the sun is ready to shine on Be brave and gimme, gimme power, Power up, power up, power, you gotta let it awake And no matter what, you get right up where you were stopped dead in the ground That’s why you’re running, running, running, Running for the future, trying to live up to your dream I see you dashing through the wind just like a hero Get over the sorrow, heartbeat is rising, pouring out emotions, Ringing in the distance, sky I’m looking up to, wishes always come true And it goes on and on Get over the sorrow, heartbeat is rising, pouring out emotions, Ringing in the distance, sky I’m looking up to, wishes always come true From me to you, this is the song of hope
I still come back to this because this makes my chest feel a certain way. As much as some people will complain about the series being repetitive, it would hurt to see it die.
I still to this day can't get over how UPSET Goku gets when Beerus decides to use blasts. *"Hey, you didn't tell me we're using blasts now"* *"If you're gonna use blasts against me, then FINE"*
I'm pissed that in the Spanish mexican dub, Goku says, “Stop destroying stuff". Like, what the fuck??!!!! Couldn't the directors give the VA a better dialogue???!!!
+Salvador R G This Song looped and edited I understand the first parts but not the one where they cut off the lyrics 0:51 Get right up where you were Right? Bite? Dead on the Ground
I remember this just got subbed on pirate sites the day my grandma went into the hospital for the last time fighting brain cancer. I was at the peak of my DBZ fanatic phase and watched this scene over and over again through the tears while waiting for my parents to come home with news. Other shows might have hit me harder, but dragon ball was there for me in my hardest moment. Thank you Akira Toriyama. Miss you grandma. Edit, 03/07/2023: I had to come back. Thank you for everything, Mr. Toriyama. You will never be matched.
RIP TORIYAMA SENSEI FOR CREATING ONE OF THE MOST BADASS STORIES IN HISTORY!!!! IM GLAD THIS MOVIE WAS ABLE TO BRING DRAGONBALL BACK AND FOR US TO HAVE GOTTEN US SUPER BEFORE HE PASSED.
For people who didn’t see this in theaters, they really missed out. Watching the movie and laughing at all the goofiness and character references of the series over the years, being the first new content with these characters after nearly ten years, only to feel the build up of emotion as you hear the music and see the fight heat up was a surreal experience. You could feel the exhilaration and joy of everyone in the theater. It was like how every fan felt when they first saw DBZ when they were a kid.
Goku actually caring for his world and duking it out with a literal deity that can annihilate him immediately just to protect all he knows and loves makes me want to hug him hes so precious
More like when the Super Saiyan is bolstered by the power of Super Saiyan God. This isn’t just SSJ1, it’s the form together with the raw strength of Super Saiyan God. Goku is in fact using Blue here, just without god Ki.
@@iam4026 yeah. Ssb has ssj multiplying the god ki, while this ssg absorbed ssj form goku is in, has ssj multiplying his normal ki while the god ki from ssg stays untouched
I remember getting this movie for Christmas as a kid, I have always loved Dragonball and getting this movie was such an amazing part of my childhood. I remember when I first watched it I watched it on the family computer and once this scene started and hero by flow started playing, I lost my shit. I was so hyped and instantly fell in love with beerus, the God form, and this movie all together. I will never forget that experience, and this movie will forever live in my heart as one of my favorites of all time
I do, so that way I'd get a 50 times power increase, and if I got ssj2, my power would increase by 2x the amount. Ssj3? 4x the amount of ssj2. And if I got divine ki, there's no telling how high I'd go from there!
After seeing the newer Broly film, while it probably had better action overall, I don't think anything has really come close to matching that sequence of Goku and Beerus soaring through the clouds, trading blows as HERO blasts in the background. An absolute masterclass of kinetic action!
Seans scream is the opening when they show all the characters. The very ending is the end of the battle. (If Beerus does a heavy or something and kills Goku in SS form.
ChosenGamer TJ beerus lied about that. That's why ssjb kaioken still is weaker than beerus. People still debate if ultra instinct mastered is stronger than beerus or not.
I saw this movie when the 10 year anniversary was released in theaters and all I gotta say is Dragon Ball movies are better seen in theaters than anywhere else without a doubt
agreed but sadly that cant ever happen. at least we are getting a dub anyhow but it'll be a while. Goku's subbed voice sounds like shit. i can't take him seriously at all.
Seeing this film opening night, you could have sworn this fight was really happening in real time. People were cheering and crying for Goku to win during this scene like we were all going to actually die if he didn't. _It was fucking awesome._
Natan S.L.S. dont worry about it dude. he was propably looking at his own reflection when he said that because only a waste of space insults someone of their own species for no good reason.
This is what I like about Goku, he's always in a way respectful to Beerus, a god. He knows what he's capable of, but when it comes to saving his friends and world, he'll just give everything, and doesn't care, just fights as hard as he cans to protec them. Moments like these hype DBS even more for me
Kevin Castro Casanova well a bit of that is true but most of all it's all for a good fight because time and time again he puts his friends in danger becuse of him wanting to fignt
Goku hadn't realized he lost his god form yet he still persisted. What drove him was the idea of Beerus destroying everyone. It actually proved to be powerful motivation even if in the end he could not truly measure up to Beerus. but it does make fans hold out hope that maybe one day there will be a true battle of Gods between Goku and Beerus
