After yesterday’s cancelled races, today was a bumper billing with six rather than four races. That not might sound a great deal but when you factor in the tight TV time window and the restrictions on power and port access times along with a whole list of other considerations, making grand prix yacht racing work around the weather’s schedule when it only turns up with 6-8 knots is challenging.
So, while today was billed as Super Saturday and with the Kiwis back on the water after their impressive overnight repairs, what no one knew was whether it would be.

Thanks Matt, with unfriendly time zones for watching down under these daily recaps are great to quickly catch up on what happened. I’m surprised the official AC channel isn’t doing a daily recap video themselves. Please keep them going! Cheers

Thanks for the informative (and most importantly informed) summaries of race days. If you find yourself unable to catch the 2+ hours of on the water action, this is the best resource to learn what happened on the day and what can be drawn from it. Please keep it up! Please also try to keep us posted on what actually happened with the ETNZ crane failure, I am sure they are digging deep into that and if you could ask some questions on the fans behalf that would be much appreciated!

Incredible efforts by the Kiwis to get their boat race-worthy again, though its performance could not be fully assessed due to their getting a walkover.

You really should be covering the prestart more. This is the most critical and interesting part of the race.

Old and new boats are similarly fast in displacement mode. The reason why these new boats look slow in displacement mode is because they look very fast while foiling.

@@jorehirhow can that be the case? The old hulls were designed specifically for displacement sailing, which is little more than an afterthought for the current ones. And this is even setting aside that the current yachts can't sail downwind (with respect to the apparent wind) and don't carry a spinnaker

Great coverage by you, but most of the racing is dull. The penalty of coming off the foils is just too much and makes the racing a lottery and because of the design you don't see the crew actually sailing the boat.

Amazing technology- boring racing. And it's pretty weird when the only people who are doing any sport in sailing race are cyclists.

Pretty sporty racing, especially when the wind picks up. Watching displacement monos trudge up wind at single digit boat speed was never good fun, it’s why sailboat racing was so much more interesting off shore. Now match racing can bring in the views
