I made a similar design, but no counterweight. I used the weight of the saw to cut the wood controlled by the rope over a pulley. And I had the power switch near where I was standing. That way you are clear from the danger and dust. I like your track idea.
Some design considerations this idea might benefit from, a zero clearance insert for vertical cuts and a repositionable slide with saw insert for your rip cut horizontal orientation to get a little cleaner cut and prevent tear-out.
I do like it mostly because of the overall Simplicity and the factor that it cuts Accurately I’ve worked in high Capacity Shops over the years that have had Commercially available Panel Saws that were always out of adjustment and very unreliable for Precision work Oddly for Projects at my home Shop i could breakdown Sheet Goods faster using Straight edges and a battery powered Circular Saw then using those Panel Saws in a 100,0000 Square Foot Shop with Millions of Dollars worth of CommercialWoodworking Machinery Of Course in both cases i always liked to achieve final dimensions on my Personal Table Saw i exclusively used and built Jigs ,Sleds ,and Other Accessories for that Specific Saw
this website above the a2equipment.com is now going to a site with a trojan horse. Is anyone else having this problem???? I cannot get it to load without getting the error of the trojan horse. If someone can help me get to the site with the plans and supplies it would be much appreciated...
Esta muy buena pero los nuevos formatos de melamina son más anchos y esta herramienta no tiene la capacidad de corte es de 185 x 275 y no encuentro el precio a la fecha (Actualizado)
I make cabinets and counter tops, read all the comments, for what they're asking and for what I paid for my panel saw. You can't beat the price. I see people who purchased this had problems assembling it but no negative comments about them asking for assistance and everyone got a reply with further instructions. Bravo on the construction of making this with all the ideal capabilities it can do. Love the portable idea, nice to do major construction at a job site which might be far away from your shop
Look at my "Parallel Guided Power Saw" and let me know your thoughts. Are you capable to partner with me to manufacture my saw? My saw has a big advantage over table saw and will retire the table saw and the router saw.
9 years AFTER this video was made, It amazes me how many people still prefer table saws. The knowledge of a panel saw is extremely limited amongst today's woodworkers. They think they are these giant machines that can only do a few things. When in fact, they can do everything a table saw can do, and much more. I have 1 arm/leg, so a table saw is not an option for me. Im currently shopping for a workshed for my needs, and once I find one I like, and it is finished, a panel saw will be the thing I build inside. (Workbench first of course. ) Advancements in linear motion, and extrusions since thus video was made, will allow a more universal design so I can increase/decrease size, depth, location, etc. So thank you for this video! Its people like yourself who refuse to let "good enough" be enough.
Dont click the link above for the plans and hardware it takes you to a rewards page where yu are the 5 millionth customer and it wants yu to pick a Prize, so go ahead and click and get hacked
When I saw my original comment I couldn't believe I wrote it. I must have been in a really bad and negative mood. I apologize for being so rude. The music is a bit loud in spots, though. I hope your business goes well.
I think it needs better copy. "This is not...instead it's precision...blah" Ok, I'll take your word? But for what? And which parts are the 'struts'? It looks cumbersome in use...possibly better than a conduit saw, but I have been told very, very lttle about it, just some vague invocations about some hoser's supposed life story. Sheesh!! Tell me, sell me, or you get neither my money nor my recommendation! And please add some freekin' usability enhancemets!
Do not click on the link in the description it is a corrupt link. I'm pretty sure I have a virus now. Either that or I just one a prize for being the 50000 site viewer LOL SMH
Is it an issue in the case where you rip a panel and the weight of the upper piece wants to fall down and squish your blade, creating a kick back like situation? Would a riving knife on your saw fix the situation?
I have not found pinching the blade to more than a minor issue. I tend to lift up on the panel as I pull it through at the end. The Swap Saw is back! Http://www.a2eq.com

@@patrickcowan8701 The Swap Saw takes a riuter as well. You cut dados with the router. With track saw you have to set it up for every cut. Yhe Swap Saw is much more productive. The Swap Saw is back! Http://www.a2eq.com

uh....looks like the tape measure gets cut in two each time the blade passes over it? - same with the router? will I end up with 2 doz pieces of my tape measure?
you need to check your link above. i can go to the site listed but if i just click on it then it goes to some spam site using flash and starts a download if you click anything.
The polycarbonate carriage will last for years. Mine is now 8 years old and going strong. The rails are anodized, providing a smooth, durable, low abrasion surface. The Swap Saw is back! Http://www.a2eq.com
I've used 2k dollar Panel saws, this one works dam goo by the looks of it, but I've got an improvement for it. Most shelves attach in a cabinet with Pins add a pin lock hold and a plunge outer and you have a pin pattern add to this you could also add a Tilting plate to cut molding shapes on your panel MDF or in hardwoods and other ideas as well. Like a X-Y-Z index or a circle cutter or even pentagram attachment with pattern guid. I'l bet you could cut dovetails with it even. CNC vertical panel, router table sheet good size.
Well done! I think it is a great invention. (I.E. design. I realise others have invented the same thing previously but the execution of this one seems to be the best I have seen. ) I would love to buy the kit. There are two things holding me back. 1. It is not metric. 2. The freight charges to Australia are prohibitive. The metric issue may not be too big of an issue, given the way it is designed, except that I could never get parts for it. Hence if you could find a way to ship it internationally, cheaply, then I think myself and many others around the world would buy the kit. Esp if you had a metric version. It occurs to me that rebuilding the entire thing in metric would be another option but usually I find that hunting down all the parts for such things ends up costing more than buying a kit in the first place. I would definitely prefer the convenience of the kit and to see that the creator gained something from my purchase. So I just thought I'd let you know I think it is a great design and I'm only not buying the kit for logistical reasons.
DIY where the "Y" stands for yourself not OURSELVES so you should change the title or show people how to make it THEMSELVES? What do you think people are expecting when they see DIY?
You should read a bit closer before you criticize! They just provide you with the hardware but you have to build it. Or is it not DIY unless you cut down the trees yourself with an ax? ;-)
Umm... why don't you just put DIY into the search bar and see what you get, then you'll have a better idea what the term means. People selling KITS for self assembly usually put something like that in the title.
ditto + the music is distorting because it was mixed incorrectly to the video. A narration of the procedure and/or features or the price of the kit and the parts included would be more useful.
