Yes I've done it. But never with forehand, always backhand. As a tennis player you'll know that type of spin played backhand at least,the racket head will have to be parallel or slightly tilted to the ground.

To those who think Iga intentionally put back spin on her return, she didn't. Her reaction to get her raquet on an excellent serve and get it back over the net was terrific, but 99% of the time this results in a smash put away by the server. Iga got lucky and unintentionally got back spin on her return. The server is standing at the net frustrated at the end of the point knowing that Iga got lucky with the back spin.

If it bounces back over the net then it's still in play regardless of whether it was hit or not. Kind of like in soccer on a penalty kick with the guy kicks it off the crossbar it flies way up into the air but with the spin of the ball it bounces into the net. Which still counted.

Now that you mentioned it, I did see one time this dude jump over the net to hit a ball, similar situation, but I think it was a 2 on 2 comedy match, and the play continued so I guess it's still a live ball.....right?! I'm not a tennis expert, correct if I'm wrong....

I believe the opponent still has to hit the ball, the sender cannot hit the ball a second time. Thus they win the point.

That's why she's so clearly upset? Because she won the point? Obviously, she didn't, because she must return the ball. The previous player would have to hit the ball twice in a row otherwise. Not hitting the ball after it bounces in your court is out, just like if you let it go out of bounds, or if you let it bounce twice.

Yes, it’s still in play for her (server) to return the ball, till it touches down. Once it bounces the second time without her touching it, the play is over and the opponent scores the point. I’ve seen and performed this same type of spin move on table tennis/ping pong but my first time witnessed in tennis.

A lotta people don't realize that various spins you impart on a tennis ball can have a dramatic effect on a point. People often over simplify tennis in their minds as two people running around hitting a fuzzy yellow ball back and forth....there is so much more to the game than that, and that's why I Love tennis So Much....Great Shot!❤

I played a serve and volley point where I had to really stretch to get to a backhand volley. To my great surprise I got the shot over the net and to my even greater surprise it spun back to my side of the net. I should have quit tennis then and there. Never top it.

Exactly. I started on table tennis as well and I can do this on every play, and ace every serve at 200mph. I don't know why anyone is impressed by pro players. We should get together and pat each other on the back for how awesome we are, but you'll never be able to return my aces or backspin lobs because I am the greatest In the world. I just couldn't be bothered wasting my time on the pro circuit, so I'll just stay in my mom's basement with my keyboard.

I use a move like that while playing 4 square. Chop the ball at an angle underneath it with so much force the backspin immediately bounces the ball out of the person's square. Once you learn how to control it you're almost unstoppable.

The last player to strike the ball over the net and inside the playing area of the court. So in this case, it definitely is not the server who won the point, and it definitely was the receiver who hit the ball with their racket and legally returned the ball over the net landing the ball inside the playing area of and on the court surface on the side of the net of the severe who then failed to hit the ball with their racket and return the ball back over the net.

Es wurde mit einem starken Rechtsdrall serviert. Der Ball hat aufgrund des harten Bodenbelags an seiner starken Drehung kaum verloren. Man hat nicht gesehen, dass der Ball beim Retourschlag so stark geschnitten wurde. Der starke Rechtsdrall ist beim Retournieren mit einem unabsichtlichen Rückdrall erweitert worden.
