Very sad that Jim passed away last year, I recall seeing him run his 63 Plymouth back in the mid 70's at the old Mission track.... Gone too soon, all my condolences and best wishes to his family...
Damn. Nothing sounds like a hemi. I remember in the 70's sitting in the stands. A hemi barracuda would run and they were the only cars you could also feel in your whole body when they ran.
Raced a 383 RR in the early 1970's stock, 8 inch slicks, headers, crane cheater cam, 456 rear, ran 12.6 to 12.8 in 1/4 mile. Was tacking about 5,800 RPM at end of quarter. still got most of the trophy's 46yrs. later!
Godamn! That is one sweet sounding/working car. One of my fathers friends had one of those. I still remember him leaving the better part of a set of tires in front of our house one night when he left. I think I was about 7 or 8 at that time.
Shit remember buying a red 67 Plymouth satellite in the 80s for a 440 to put in my road runner at the time them days are all most gone but this is a nice car good video
That's an original RO23 race car that's been a SuperStock car since new. Jim used to live in Port Alberni where the car was from. ( owned at first by Lyle Kidd i think) Historic car and really quick.
+Barry Peloquin A 1967 GTX was RS23 for hardtop or RS27 for convertible. The second digit denotes the price class of the car, in this case S stood for special. The price class O was reserved for the factory super stock cars, which in 1967 were converted low option Belvedere and (for Dodge) Coronet models. In 1968 the O price class was again used, but this time for the BO29 Barracuda fastback and LO23 Dart hardtop models.
Race Hemis will wind a hair past 9000 and never miss a lick. Any Hemi loves lots of RPM. My 70 cuda 440+6 started getting stronger above 6800 so I let it take all it wanted.
Rest in peace yes, he loved and lived what anyone would. It was a success time and legacy for him. I‘m a Pontiac guy yet NOBODY can argue what he had and did with it, NOBODY!
Beautiful satellite forgot I put a comment up a year ago yep I bought one in the late 70s for the motor it had a Maltese cross 440 in it it went good it had a little work done to it but not like this beautiful super stock hemi
I remember going threw the staging lanes in Ray Christian's hemi cuda I was 10 at national trail raceway remember what Judy Lilly,s car said on the back? On the 8th day God created rhe Hemi
the video is really great but nothing beats sitting in the staging lane, revving the engine and then waiting for that green lite, it never gets old. bless all you Saturday nite racetrack drivers, may you never red lite.
".....behold, for I have stood upon the mountain high, and I heard the voices of angels singing in heaven, and it was good.."....angels singing, or a 426 cranking at 7000+rpm, same thing.
