Hate to break it to you, but this is vocal mimicry, not "conversing with man in man's language." Don't get me wrong- they are incredibly smart creatures. But they aren't _actually_ talking to us.

@MoogieSRO - Of course they are not actually "talking to us", but they are indeed conversing with us, in our language. Isn't like we can discuss politics with them LOL. We talk to our dogs, they growl or gruff back to us, they converse with us, but they don't speak-back in our language. Our dogs reacting back to our conversation to them, but these birds have the ability to take it one rung-higher in communication. Yes, they mimic, if no one spoke to them, they would not speak to us out of the blue, in our language. But they do mimic back when spoken to don't they? I would even bet owners have birds who have a vocabulary where the owner says something, and the bird responds with an answer, not a mimic, but another word or words completely different to what was said by the owner, in response to what the owner said. Sure it's a trained "conversation", but a conversation nonetheless. What other animal on the face of the earth, speaks back to humans, in human language, mimic or not? Well ...mocking birds mimic sounds they hear, spoken word or the sound of a car alarm, or door creaking-shut. IMO it's still a higher ability to communicate and converse using the sounds/language of the world around them, other than the dog who only bards/gruffs/grows, the cat who only purrs/meows/groans, the horse who only snuffs and neighs, etc ...no other animal can do this, except for a select few breeds of bird.
