Just a competition against myself to see how many trout (of any size) I can catch and release from my local stream. Although its a mere 5 minute walk from my front door, its one of my favourite places to fish, anywhere! enjoy!
Thanks, Peter! It's a cracking stream when it's on form! Harder again now the weather is colder and heavy water again, mayfly seems to be holding off waiting for warmer conditions! It might prolong the mayfly season, though😊
@@soultrader57fishingandmusi25 Hope you had a good trip all the same and look forward to a video if you do one. Been struggling for time like a lot of folk just recently, but hope to get out on a burn or two with the 3 wt as haven’t done yet, it’s really is absorbing stuff. Tight lines 👍
Thanks Paul, it certainly is! yet also very urban! I'm currently in Sutherland, and it's hard to find a local hill loch that hasn't been stocked, some of them even with rainbows and blue trout!
Casting at those risers at 12/13mins at the 'big rock swim' utterly tantalising! Had a real soft spot for this river since you kindly showed me the ropes down there. Lovely dry fly installment as always Dave 😀
Just managed to catch up with your vid Soul Brother, This one is Action packed braavaaa...Need to get out on the river myself, the local ponds Are not fishing well at all..Was after perch as usual but nothing to report brother...Keep up the good work Soldier, lovin the vids..Oiii Oiiiii...
Cheers, Gaz! Yes, it can be a cracking river on its day. I'm amazed at how many people are unaware of any fish at all in there! Better luck with the Perch, autumn and winter seem to give me better results with the Perch. They often stand you up ! 😊👍👍
Thanks Davie! Not many mayflies about, but the few that were there seemed to be bringing up bigger fish! Should be peaking now, but I'm not sure how the river is as I'm away in Sutherland ATM There's been more rain at home than we've had up here. It seems to be at its best for dry fly when it's pretty low. Getting into hill loch fishing now 😂👍
Tried all sorts, sprays, powders etc, back on old school Mucylin now! Handy for greasing up the butt of the leader too. After a few fish I change flies and let the 1st dry out. Sometimes, with emergers, they can be very effective just under the surface film. Harder to spot the takes though in rough water
Nice one, Dave. im really hoping to get some better fishing this week, with the trout as responsive as this. Audio seems improved. Is this a new setup? Re fishing in public places it is amazing how often you get asked "are there fish in here then?". Never quite sure how to respond?
Thanks Chris! Yes, finally spent some hard cash on a go pro against my tight fisted nature! Benefits of working and drawing a pension at the same time 😂 Don't know how the hell I got to 1k subs with that Chinese camera! It's a brilliant little stream, the reason I moved house to that spot 10 years ago! If I go late afternoon or early evening mid week its pretty quiet. No permit , just EA licence required. Saltwater sea trout are proving much more elusive.....
I bet you'll find the gopro easier, not so much voice-over required. Be ready for the dreaded freeze and having to take the battery out🤔 You wonder how many miles of trout streams there must all over the UK that never see an angler ?
Yes! No mic, and the hindsight feature is superb. We're pretty blessed in lancs nowadays. Since the 80s cleaner rivers and progress in sewage treatment has worked wonders. There was no River fishing south of the ribble and north of the Welsh dee when I was a kid. There's a handful of "dirty" rivers now within 20 mins drive from me which produce specimen brownies, that seem to dominate chub, dace and even pike.
The 11. It records a continuous loop on hindsight, 30 seconds at a time which it deletes as you go. Hook a fish or similar memorable moment, and you press the start, and it keeps the previous 30 seconds from before you started your recording! In principle, you dont miss the take!
