I've been self taught on utube for 3 years now and I never had any idea Pete Cowen had his own platform, what an ass I'm, to be completely honest I watched your phyimid of learning the gold swing in the last two weeks and caught a few cameos you were in , my swing, distance, effortless Action and most of all Enjoyment of the game of golf has gotten 100% better, I love your analogy range practice, when I heard you explained what you thought and how much time I've wasted on the range , my mind set is so differnt now, Thank you for that, and the comment were amateur golfer feel the weight of the club head in the back swing and go directly for the ball, unbelievable what that has done for my swing and thoughts during the swing, A Golf swings most important meaning is staying in balance, ill never forget that comment, Thank you very much for your experience and knowledge about the golf swing! and the game of Golf! Absolute Gold!
Wow, a legend like Pete sharing his knowledge, thankyou. This has just popped into my feed, wonder why it's taken this long to appear, alot of us are missing out not knowing Pete the real legend is on you tube.
Thanks for sharing an updated version of the spiral staircase concept! More details on the opposing forces concept : (is left hand apply pressure to the right, and right hand to the left? Are the hands/arms applying pressure downward on the grip? This pressure is being maintained from setup throughout the swing, correct?). With the shoulder load - is neutral shoulder load / unload in synch with the spiraling of the body, in the draw load/ unload is the shoulders moving from the sockets in in a more counter clockwise direction, and the fade shoulder load /unload the shoulders moving in a clockwise direction. Is the shoulder loading and unloading more of a ball and socket movement or a shoulder blade movement? Shoulder blades would seem easier to control consistency and stability, but shoulder sockets provide a bigger range of motion, and would seem more uncontrollable - where they could under or over rotate very easily).
Thanks for sharing Pete, I hope you.are able to bring out a book soon that summarises your methodology and thoughts looking back to great golfers from the past. I have taken lessons at your range and have never hit the ball so well and it was easy once concepts were employed and understood.. please keep on going!
I had a poor performance day at the range today and just watching this instruction about spiral up and spiral down has me motivated to get back to the range tomorrow and work these drills into my practice- they concept seems to be the feeling that I was missing (too much rain & cold here to actually play golf yet… uugggh)
thanks for the spiral drill. to me, it's great and not so difficult to apply for irons and 7, 5 woods. surely for my fault, when I apply the down move to driver often I hit the ground before the tee. posture ? sincro ? thanks for the attention.
At 3:30, Pete Cowen turned his hands counterclockwise for a fade. But he recommend the opposite at 17min 30s in another video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ccQnNSrbarU.html Any thoughts ?
Hi is Pete Cowan here saying that the backswing is a spiral from ground up & around to rear shoulder & then a downswing starting from that shoulder (1st downswing initiating move) back all the way down finally into the lead foot into impact & beyond. I have always understood the opposite to this meaning in the downswing started with pressure down into the lead foot 1st with then body & arms catching up in that order. Have I understood this correctly?. Also I am lost on his description of 'loading' the shoulders correctly for a draw or fade position ie. differing draw & fade spirals. Can you please explain this or even link me to a video that demonstrates what he means by this?. Thank you so much.
I spiral up twice. Even on the downswing I spiral up. Then I have great leverage with the hands via core to create an incredible straight powerful shot. There is a technique similar to yours to do this which I am not going to explain here.
I am very interested in the theory craft side of golf, for example, your “spiral”. I think this could go a little deeper. Have you heard of the Golden Ratio? When you mentioned in this video about how everything grows in a spiral, it got me thinking about these while I was watching & it occurred to me that what you are describing is exactly this! It is found everywhere in nature, as you said, grass, flowers, the spiral on a snails shell, etc. Thinking of this, the path that of the club head follows this same path as it spirals around you. Is a top down camera a thing used in swing analysis? It could “theoretically” be used to add another data reference point to use for finding that “perfect” swing 🤔 I have only just started my golf “journey” this year after my dad got me a membership at his local club( he’s in his 80’s, I’m 47 😅) and after seeing a lesson you gave Danny Maude on his channel, I found yours and subscribed after watching this video! Really looking forward to watching your others videos! 💯
Confusing way to describe how to wind up your body and load the shoulders. He should have demonstrated the drill in the proper posture. 2. The right shoulder should be slightly internally rotated at the top of the backswing as you spiral upwards. The best way to visualize that is to imagine at the top of your backswing you winning at arm wrestling. That's how you feel the shoulders loading. This will give the opposite move in transition, the right scapula externally rotating in transition. Visualize yourself losing at arm wrestling. Demonstrating it standing vertically is not how one set up to hit the ball, so why demonstrate it that way.? I can see golfers spiraling up, but at the same time turning the right shoulder externally, or flat. A lot of information has been left out, why I don't know? No wonder golfers never improve. Still an awesome coach.
Game become easier, really,am I dumb am I the only person who cant do this on driving range for real .have you noticed gentlemen that the people who get lesson on these training videos are low handicap good players and got great swings already. Where are us mere mortals who really need help .
I am absolutely sorry you did that but that’s not the reason why you did that. The reason why you did that is because your muscles were not conditioned properly you get a Lewisetta muscles and you’ll do that. The body is very resilient. Best to you chap
