Skiff mail is excellent for end to end encrypted mail. Free account with 10gb with aliases, drive and calendar attached.. and more probably. I don't know because I just use them - not affiliated. But really happy with their attitude towards privacy.
A faraday sleeve or case is easier than messing around with tiny sim cards and paper clips to pop them out, fwiw. Good way to give a second life to mylar potato chip bags.(g)
A Faraday bag does nothing. Google and Apple have enough access to your phone data and good enough algorithms to work out what you were probably doing between the times you took the phone out of the bag to use it. Don't get me wrong, a Faraday bag is a nice accessory if you can get one to match your shoes when you go out to dinner. It also sounds very "l33t" when you show it off to your friends at dinner, but it achieves nothing practically - except for making the manufacturers of such bags very rich.
But can you do anything with your phone without the sim card? If not, why not leave the phone at home? Big brother will think you're at home. Regarding the browser, chrome is google's app so they're following you anyway if you're using it. So it makes sense for that to be your google websites app and to use different browsers for other sites. Google owns youtube. But you're saying watch youtube without signing in to google. They allow that. Good video, thanks.
Don't waste a good browser on Google. There's additional spy stuff on there but they will not get more beyond what they're already getting with Google apps
All great advice & inexpensive actions a person can take to guard their privacy. Everyone needs to start somewhere & these are all things which a person can very easily implement right now, to limit the amount of information the big tech companies can gather about them, & ensure a degree of privacy. And the sooner someone starts doing these things, the less time the likes of Google, Apple & Facebook will have to accumulate information about them. So don't defer privacy - the best time to start is now.
These days all you have to do is just go to the wrong website. If you think these assholes need a warrant, you have been hoodwinked. Thanks to the so called "patriot act" they can do as they damn well please.
Google Search started with a flawed premise. The top search result would be the page most people went to--not necessarily the best or most page. I could never figure out why people would choose to pursue the most popular answer, rather than the best one.
yeah cause ur connection is going through more things and more privacy is usually gonna slow a little down as its more stuff done to the connection@@JC-ft4ri
So let's advertise A.I. , before we stop accepting big tech greed as number one instead of health and well-being, and cause a greed induced form of income before actually testing long term trial in a setting which is smaller than the whole world before being able to release new features which will be marketeted as being dangerous in the wrong hands, without stating the facts of humanity. Greed comes before anything and safety issues only matters if cash isn't a factor. In small cases like this will brag at the safety issues being implemented.
Just wondering … if I’ve used, for example, Brave in the past with Google (RU-vid etc) would it be wiser to reinstall it or would clearing cookies be sufficient? Or should I just not use that browser again?
Fantastic tips. Is it ok to use google search on a PC non chrome browser while not logged into google and while using a VPN? If not could you please explain what the privacy danger would be there?
Teenagers don't care about privacy - it's an alien concept to them, they were born into a world where it had no relevance in the first place. It shocks me how many youngsters hold a phone near their mouths and use hands free in public places where you can hear everything they are talking about - and some of the stuff you can't help overhearing really should be something discussed privately! Before I quit Facebook about three years ago (and I do not regret it one bit), I used to make a habit of trawling through the profiles of strangers to play a game with myself to work out, as finely as possible, what their home address was. Photos and clues would allow me to isolate their possible location (town or city suburb) to then just go to a phone book or voter register to find out their real address. It was quite easy on many occasions. Fortunately, I am a "good guy" in cyber-security and the first thing I did for these people was message them privately, explain how much data I'd managed to get and then advise them how to lock down their profiles from complete strangers. I find it utterly shocking what people reveal about themselves, and it's primarily the fault of social media playing on their narcissistic tendencies to brag about where they are and what they are doing 24x7. Older people like us remember having privacy and we understand the consequences of a world without it - therefore we can fight to retain it.
Thanks again Rob. Im setting up a phone without a sim only to connect via wifi when needed. The lineage install is a little intimidating, any suggestions?
In regards to not being able to remove a sim card from most modern phones. I have been interested in get a type of faraday cage pouch but don't have a way of testing it let alone what materials should be in said device.
He has already made plenty of privacy videos for computers. You just need to not be lazy and search through what is on his channel. He even mentions browser isolation in this video. Did you not watch it?
I very much like browser isolation, and have been using it in conjunction with multiple virtual machines for different purposes. But it can be somewhat tedious to spin up each machine every time, especially if only using web apps. Can I safely rely on browser isolation on my hosts machines and no longer need to use virtual machines when all I'm doing is using web apps?
Any ideas for someone who uses an echo dot to try to get them to switch over to a better home assistant smart speaker system that does not store private data? Any thoughts on Snips or Rhasspy? Please anyone, needing some help...
Mr. Braxman How does my coffee shop WiFi block my access to specific sites when I'm using both an HTTPS URL as well as a VPN ??? How do they see and block the address anyway??? I thought a VPN and HTTPS made the address invisible! I'm using Firefox and Win 11 on a laptop Thank You
🤗 Me hoping you won't suck me this time, talking about, thinking i am clever, and you therein it down right in front of me, damn your good work Rob the BraxMaster... - Stay Blessed - - Peace - 🙏❤✌
Question about encryption. Whatsapp frequently gets hacked and is owed by Facebook. Why is encryption emphasized when it can be compromised by simply watching a 10 minute RU-vid video?
So you're using a Faraday bag but what appears to be your real name on here? What's the point? For the record, the only reason to carry a Faraday bag is if you can get one that matches your shoes - then it becomes a nice accessory for when you go out to dinner. Otherwise a Faraday bag is pointless, because both Google and Apple have enough access into your phone and good enough algorithms to work out what you were probably doing in between the intervals you took your phone out of the bag.
I am seriously interested in a deGoogled phone, but I am apprehensive, because use RU-vid a lot. The scary bit for me, is the transition to a life with a deGoogled phone.
I think the first thing you should think about is not use what appears to be your real name on here. Use a pseudonym and use that pseudonym only for RU-vid.
@@patr10t762 There is no point sideloading onto Google Android. You have no anonymity on a Google Android phone, Google will see you using NP - so there's no point using it in the first place. It only makes sense to use it on a de-Googled device and, yes, it's then a great app for privacy.
You were not paying attention it seems. Rob was presenting those as a way to obfuscate your identity from the website you visit which they would. The ipv6 is internal to those services. He is not recommending ipv6 for your own router , in fact many times he has specifically said to avoid this or use link local mode only.
