The 5 dislikes from the neighbors! 😂 Man, this song is so brilliantly catchy. Brings me back to 1995, playing on my Aiwa boombox, smoking one hitters in my bedroom late at night with a towel under my door and incense lit so as to not let the parents find out. 😂
I'm blowing up the street Like a leaf I skinned my back A few times, you'll see Head over heels My hand's on my heart I'm making a promise And that's a start You're leaving a trail for me I see you up in the tallest tree You're throwing things down at me I'm starting to climb. Well I'm starting on my knees Somewhere along the way The dusk it turns back into day The sky is orange The trees lie down against it You're leaving a trail for me I see you up in the tallest tree You're throwing things down at me I'm starting to climb Well I've started on my knees
God, that's a good tune. In Heathlands by Patrick Norrie, right near the end, there's a chapter called "Tallest Tree" - surely a reference to this. Kelly wears a Merge Records T shirt to the pub too.
This video pre-dates the _Pete and Pete_ series opening. At the time this was released, _TAoP&P_ only existed as short clips without any opening or theme song. So, maybe it's the other way around.
superchunk is kinda unique. maybe dinosaur jr., pavement, sebadoh, sonic youth have a noise component like superchunk. speedy ortiiz is a new band that have similar roots to these bands....smart lyrics. look at songs like ka prow , american horror, taylor swift for speedy ortiz...those sound like this in a way.
do you have spotify or pandora or something like that? that would be the easiest way. superchunk changes over the years too..i prefer their first 4 or 5 albums. they are still at it after all these years.
Yeah man, okay I will check out their earlier stuff! I only just heard about them because I saw a performance they did with John Darnielle from The Mountain Goats.
It's hard to tell, but that looks like Jon Wurster on drums, but he didn't join Superchunk until On the Mouth and wasn't on No Pocky for Kitty. MERGE, could you clarify?
This had to be right after he joined. I believe Chuck, the original drummer left right after No Pocky For Kitty was released, or even during the recording process.
