I quit going to supercross. It's annoying that they still carry a "service charge" of $25 to email you your tickets. It's so damn expensive to go. It was over $800 for the cheapest tickets for 6 seats. For a little over $700, we camp trackside for 3 days and 3 adults and 2 kids 3 day tickets. Last year we had access to the pits before race day and after the races we snuck into the pits and my son got to hang out with Hayden and I talked with Brian Deegan for about 20 minutes. We met Anderson, Jett, Tomac, and a few other riders, all willing to stop for a picture or autograph. It is a great experience and way more affordable. I'm glad you shared this experience. I'm sure it was a great day but pricing is crazy.
@GregHitchko
@GregHitchko Год назад
I totally feel you on that brother! It's so hard to put a price tag on those types of "VIP" experiences. All depends on what you find valuable and your goals with going to the show. Like you said, great day without a doubt but I'm trying to forget about the cost 🤣
@jmmcgeachy85
@jmmcgeachy85 Год назад
That's why we spend the money to camp trackside at the motocross race. It's like $80 to camp in general camping and $400 for trackside.( Previously it was only $250) It's an extra cost but feels like VIP. We set up and have a private tent, toilet, food and drinks all right there for you. I can tell you though in a few years getting to do it with your kids makes it all even better. My youngest son will be making his first trip up there with us.

Awesome video Greg. I have done the track walk before and did not get to walk the whole track. We did get to check out most of the track and the starting gate and finish. I think it depends on what needs to be groomed when the track walk happens. I am spoiled though as I did flag many races in the 90’s and early 2000’s so I had access to walk the track during the normal rider track walk and see everything along with early access to the pits.
@GregHitchko
@GregHitchko Год назад
Right on, thanks for sharing that Chris! That had to be such a cool experience to be able to do the flagging all of those years, not many can say they did that. I'm sure you saw many tracks that you wouldn't even want to ride in your dreams, but I'm sure others looked epic!

I am going to make this happen. For me, all day pit access is a winner!... with a few friends and contacts spread across the paddock from Factory to privateers to media, THIS IS A MUST! I will absolutely pay to be there, rather than ask for a free pass. I did AUSX Open in late 2019 with El Hombre and Josh Hill etc... it was AWESOME! Cant wait do to A1 in the USA baby!!!!

Great video , glad someone finally did this ... Pit access really isn't that valuable when it is available to the general public . Now if we are talking a race with a closed pit like Indianapolis or Detroit for example the I can see value there . Definitely value in the track walk but that can be purchased ala cart , same goes for the tickets Nothing really exclusive here besides the catered meal and team meet and greet

Any event that I've been in a suite or a box had some things I was no aware of. While the view, and the feeling of "exclusivity" was nice, I then found out that we could not bring food or drinks from the concessions up. You want a hotdog? They come by the dozen and were $130. You want a beer? No problem. They are delivered in an ice filled container - by the dozen for some amount that my brain has been nice enough to remove from my memory. While these were not at SX events, I can assume the experience could be the same. When I was renovating my house I found a box of old photos from Seattle SX (back in the early 90s) when we sat right above the pits, and could walk around the track with just a basic ticket and getting there early. It was great coming home with Micky Diamond's goggles and Mike Kiedrowski's gloves. That said, the racing today sure has a unique and great feel to it as well.
@GregHitchko
@GregHitchko Год назад
I forgot about all of those potential consequences of being in a box! That's brutal. Like you said, not sure if it's the same with SX, maybe it's a per stadium thing 🤔. But that is SO cool the story you told about going to SX in the early 90s. Memories you'll never forget. Thanks for sharing Marc.

That's insane. Never been to a sx race ( I want to ) but I've gotten box seats at a concert once. No food stands were open at the level we were on, so we had to go downstairs. But the box seat did share a bar with another box seat. And that was awesome. ( TD Garden )

I was hoping that it was a box but yeah bummed that it wasn't like I'm sure you saw. Not sure why they couldn't pull that off with the small group that was there. Tickets were in section 438 row B in the middle of the row. For two tickets it was just over $300, pit passes we got at the box office and they were $30 on Friday morning. $40 to park and we parked over by where you did. I live in NorCal so I rented a car cause gas prices are high and my truck would have been kinda pricey, plus I didn’t wanna put the miles on it driving there and back. So rental car was $157. We stayed at Motel 6 not far from the stadium and for two nights it was $243. My brother flew in from AZ and I think his ticket was around $200. Getting into the stadium was easier than past years cause the metal detectors were a bit more tame and security wasn’t tight like the airport as it’s been in past years! Guy scanning tickets was a little slow but that was because people aren’t prepared! You should have your phone out and the tickets ready to be scanned when you get to the guy! Too many times I watched people have to dig into their pockets, backpack, purse to just find their phone, then try and locate their tickets. Where I was prepared and had my phone open and tickets were ready to be scanned. Getting into fan fest was super easy, scan your ticket and get hand stamped that way they had a special entry area for people who were in the pits earlier and they didn’t have to get in line with the massive amount of people who were getting into the fan fest for the first time. We got in right at noon and went straight to the pits. It was nice cause it wasn’t packed cause most went and watched free practice. We skipped that and were able to talk to a lot of the riders before they went out or who just got back. Phil Nicoletti was super cool and talked to us for a while and gave us a fist bump and said have a good time. Paige Craig is a sweetheart! We’ve had a tradition on Instagram of talking every Saturday before the race for two years and she finally got to put a name to the face and made me promise to keep up our Saturday tradition going. So talked with her for a while and Jagger as well. Said Hi to Christian Craig and he is super cool and talked to us for a while. Ran into Jeremy Martin walking around and he walked with us and talked for a while. Said hi to a bunch of privateers as they are easy to get to as the crowds aren’t big. Couldn’t get close to Honda as everyone wanted to see Jett Lawrence. Got to say hi to Dazzy Lawrence, super cool guy. Got to say hello to Mookie, Sexton, AC, Macadoo, Forkner, pretty much all the Star Yamaha guys, Got to say a brief hello to Brian Deegan as we ran into him walking in the pits. Couldn’t get too close to Roczen, but we did have breakfast with his Trainer/ brother in law Blake and his Father in law Greg. Greg and I grew up together and have been friends since 2nd grade. Glad you guys had a good time. $750 is worth the experience in my book. If you break it down $300 for each ticket, $40 parking, $15 pit passes, food and drinks it comes to about that. I’d pay $750. I’ve sat in club level many times and those seats are great! Not too low that you can’t see the other side of the track, and not so high up that you can’t see the numbers on the side of the bike. Club is perfect. You can see the whole track and every rider as well. Racer-X used to do a similar thing on MotoTalk before it became Vital MX. You could try and get the RacerX gas card. Two vip tickets to whatever race you want, it was early entry, track walk, vip pit access, and club level seats all for I believe it was $150 a ticket and you got two, so $300. But that was way back in the early 2000’s and they don’t do it anymore. I won twice! Got A-2 one year and Oakland the next time.
@GregHitchko
@GregHitchko Год назад
That was amazing Jimmy! Sounded like you guys had one heck of a time as well and thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review of your day! You guys did it rad. Can't really ask too much more of a supercross experience than that. We stopped to chat with Dazzy as well, such a cool guy. We were at Unadilla earlier this year and my son was only 6 months old, his first motocross race, and Dazzy would super kind to have Jett's mechanic give our son Jett's number plate as a remembrance of the race. Then later walking out of the pits, we came across Jett and had him sign the plate. It was something I'll never forget. But the club level was perfect for viewing I would have to agree, I think we were more bummed about the box because we thought we would have a place to put our stroller and let our son, now 11 months old, nap haha. All good, still and epic experience and can't wait to go back for another A1 in the future. Best part was how ELECTRIC the crowd was. Cheers!

At Angel Stadium, "club level" or the 300s section is the best seats in the house. Everyone knows this. Not only because of the views, but the concessions/food and restrooms are only accessible to club ticket holders so the lines arent so long and the bathrooms are full of flat-billed IE kids throwing up and being idiots. If you know...you know and the Knot Hole club is where you wanna hang and party and watch the race. Or, one of the suites "boxes" with HRC Honda or Yamaha on the 300s level. Hate to say it, but literally EVERYTHING you did used to be easily done for free with a little hologram sticker you would stick on the back of your hard ticket. You just had to know someone in the industry, or be a friend of a friend. My friend worked for Alpinestars and before Feld took over he would get a sheet of hologram stickers (24 or so) and paper bracelets for his family/friends. It was awesome. But above all that, getting a media or "hard card" is truly the all access. I'm talking about walking right into the studio box and sitting 5' from Carmichael as he does the broadcast. Riding the elevator with Dianna Dahlgren. Exploring the huge underground tunnels that run directly under the track. Again, since Feld took over, those are impossible to get now, and the industry has slowly been more and more restricted to giving out passes. This year they reduced it even more and riders were only getting like 3 tickets and having to tell family and friends to stay home or buy their own ticket to watch them ride. Feld is the reason the sport is so expensive and corporate.
@GregHitchko
@GregHitchko Год назад
I definitely agree with you that the club level was awesome for viewing! Any higher and I would feel too far away from the action and even though being lower it cooler to be closer, it's a tough time seeing anything other than what is in front of you. The concessions and bathrooms were nice too not having to battle with the "drunkens," especially with our 11 month old haha. For it being our first time doing A1, you couldn't beat the atmosphere. It's nothing like some of the other rounds I've been too. But that hologram sticker sounds like the grail of tickets right there. Exactly what I would want for every race ideally lol, but yes, you gotta know someone for sure. Sucks that they used to be much easier to obtain. I appreciate the detailed feedback dude, thank you!

Wow! Great video you put together but…. All I've got to say is, that was a waste of $750 bucks per VIP ticket! I had the same experience with tickets in the top 520 section row F. Paid $90 bucks for both tickets. Way better view because you can see the whole entire track during the race. Got to do the fan experience in the pits, at 12 PM. Free access with an empty can of monster energy for recycling. Was able to meet quite a few riders throughout the day without having to wait in line for the autograph session. The only two things you had that I didn't, where the team trailer tour and the track walk. Both you can do without but what a disappointment with the truck walk. I would've expected to be able to walk the whole entire track. What a disappointment for the VIP package. I also received some free swag but was able to purchase the team hat that I really wanted. Bottom line, Felds VIP packages are way over priced and are not worth the experience that you can get with regular tickets and a free pass into the pits with an empty can of monster. Although I got to say, thanks for showing what the experience is with these VIP packages. Always wanted to know what it was like…

Cheers and thanks for the response brother! The all day pit pass is another difference maker. Being able to get in before the crowd and actually be able to take in everything without the hustle and bustle. Going into the pits after the race is over is also a very cool experience to be able to see how the teams break things down, decompress with the riders post race, super cool. But you have to value something like that, you know? But yeah, I was expecting way more of a "VIP experience" than what we received paying $750.

@@GregHitchko I totally hear ya. I've work in the sport action industry for 20 years, so it's a little bit different for me. I have contacts on certain events. But to get the full experience, this is the only way to do it like you did. Again I was always curious to see what those VIP packages offered. I live right down the street from Anaheim stadium and I've been going to the races for the last 25 years there. So it's easy for me to leave the venue, go back home and chill for a while before the main event in the evening. Whereas hard-core fans that travel from other areas don't have that privilege. My version of the VIP experience would also included the press conference the day before the race, the press conference after the race, and food at least three times that day. Feld entertainment really needs to look at what they're selling and really make it worth your bang for every buck you're spending. Thanks for the reply and the video of course!!!! Alec.....

@@cweasel00 the kid inside me who grew up in upstate NY is really jealous of your accessibility of getting to A1 every year haha. That's epic, Alec. We actually bought the press day experience too for Friday which I was looking forward to the most. You would get to watch the press day riding, go to the A1 press conference, and a guided track walk by Ricky. Super bummed when they cancelled that..

@@GregHitchko what, it was canceled!?! Was it due to the rain that we had here in Anaheim that week? I do know for a fact, the press conference went on. Just don't know why it would've been canceled for people that bought tickets to go to it! I could see them canceling the track walk, but not the press conference. I've gone to the press conference so many times. It's a really cool experience and would've been the best experience out of the whole weekend. You can actually do the meet and greet with all the riders that are there due to the fact that they usually hang out. Plus this year, due to the rain, the Raiders were not allowed to do a practice session on the track. So they all stayed behind to talk to the press. Sorry to hear that you were able to attend that part of your weekend…

@@cweasel00 yeah the rain! We were so confused as well to why they cancelled the press conference experience because that is obviously not out on the track haha. We were really bummed about that part of it. At first they had only cancelled the track walk and riding, which wasn't a big deal, then then morning of, they cancelled the press conference too. Definitely want to hit it up in the future though

$750 dollars... DAMN... I have not purchased a ticket to a race in so long, I did not know that tickets or fan experiences were were that expensive...Lucky my job has its perks..... What really pisses me off is with the amount of money Feld makes off the event, then they pay their riders shit money... Maybe that would be a good video for your show Greg...LOL

The purse money paid out to the riders is brutal mate, everybody but Feld feels you in that aspect. It's hard to put a price on these types of experiences. Not sure if they capped it out at the 14 people or if people didn't want to pay the $750 in general. I do think they limit the those ticket sales though to a small group, I just don't know how many.
