I once met a metalhead that would not air guitar while Painikiller was playing. only talked once to that motherfucker. it is about fundamental aesthetics and a general stance in life. if you don't appreciate that this here is the greatest universal metal hymn of all time, you need to leave the room immediately. and you should probably give away your ears to someone who really needs them.

In one fell swoop, Judas Priest, at a point in their careers when many were saying they were done, at a point when younger, angrier bands were all trying to out-fast and out-angry each other, came in and said, "Move over, young bucks, let the REAL Metal Gods show ya how it's done." And proceeded to put every young thrash and speed metal band to shame. That entire album was a message from the Godfathers of heavy metal: "You young bitches get off our fuckin' lawn!"

I remember when this came out. It was going around at that time that maybe Priest was finished. A very dull album prior to this. And there was talk about them not being on metals Mt. Olympus. Then this dropped...... we all shut the fuck up, and learned to never question Judas Priest.

I didn't think Ram It Down was "dull". I liked it. Now, Turbo before Ram It Down, was pretty mainstream for Priest.

Have to understand, "British Steel " created a new category of music. Critics said that Priest sold out and slowed down in the 80's. 1990 Painkiller is released and mind's melted. Drummers still use the machine gun opening to warm up. Not bad for a group that was washed up and lo and behold, a new album is just released.
