The 2010 Lincoln MKT EcoBoost has the making of something pretty special.
Anyone who has read our entries on the IL Long-Term Road Test blog over the past year knows we're smitten with our 2009 Ford Flex. And the more powerful 2010 Ford Flex with EcoBoost picks up where the original left off, walking away with an Inside Line Editors' Most Wanted award in our most recent annual voting session.

I sat in the MKT and the Q7 this wknd. I'm an Audi guy (have bought 2) and I have to say that the MKT was nicer. The styling is very bold and love it or hate it, but its very refined, inside and out. The interior was better in the MKT. That's quite a statement for me to admit.

your off in your review i own a mkt and bought it after time in the flex. the refinement in interior and the beauty in styling of exterior sold me. middle age will buy lincoln maybe next generation under will buy flex. both are dependable but one is leader in style

Looks like a hearse, but a pretty stylish package overall. Hell of a lot better than the MDX and RX350.

Wow. . I have this car I like it so far it should be a 4 wheel drive not a 2 wheel. . I can't see behind me to check for other drivers drive so good it does have its ups and downs

You should have bought the AWD Ecoboost model, the others with the slow 3.7L are worthless.

Mkay...Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Yukon XL, Expedition all get EPA 21 mpg highway. For instance, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrids 6.0-liter V8 engine produces 332 horsepower (HP) and 367 foot pounds of torque. The official mileage estimates for the 2009 Tahoe Hybrid are 21 city / 22 highway mpg for the 2WD version and 20/20 for the 4WD. It weights 5,835 pounds with 4wd and 5,617 pounds with 2WD. It can tow 6,200 pounds and has off-road capability, too. After all, that's what SUVs are for.

I agree, this reviewer is high. I would pay $7000 just for the style improvements over the boxy flex. Higher end cars should not have to conform to meet functional standards. When is the last time someone talked about leg room when reviewing a Mercedes or Cayenne?

Oh, I definitely know that. And I love the idea of strapping on turbos to smaller engines! It gives people a much better opportunity to upgrade the engine.

The 2010 MKT only has 355 horsepower, not 375 as stated in the above review. It got boosted to 365 horsepower in the 2013 model.

Does anyone else get the feeling this guy is a Ford Flex fan? I bought my wife a 2010 Ford Flex AWD Ecoboost and we both love it. We recently had our first baby and I need to sell my Nissan 370Z to get something other than a two seater. I'm flipping a coin between the Lincoln MKT (13' or newer) or a 09' or newer Infiniti FX50. So yes, Flex owners can still be in the market for the MKT.

@ssj4goldengogeta Yeah. Make sense...but, in order for American luxury vehicles to really compete with the comp.(in which, combines luxury, speed and, performance), they'll have to do the same.

He makes one good point though, you're mostly paying for the brand name. $7k- 11k more than a top of the line Flex.

@BklynJayL they're aiming to redefine american luxury and modernize their cars with more engaging performance and technology. They're not aiming to burn rubber like a bmw or to carve canyons. That's why the ecoboosted lincoln mks rides much softer and luxurious than a taurus sho. two different set points.

That's a Lincoln trademark to do so. Stands for "Mark", just like Benz and, BMW uses numbers. ;-)

YES they would bitch about it, because it is large enough that A BIG 3RD ROW IS EXPECTED! I think in video this car looks significantly smaller than it actually is. IN A CAR THIS BIG, YOU NEED A DECENT THIRD ROW [period]. No car this large would lack a 3rd row entirely.

SIMPLY PUT and And Of Course Its $11,000 More Its A Lincoln Offering Push Button Start, Panoramic Vista Roof ( Not Some Flex Panel BS) Adaptive Cruise Control, Adaptive HID Headlights, Heated & Cooled 1st & 2nd Row Seats, So What the NAVI is OPTIONAL IT HAS A STANDARD TOUCH SCREEN RADIO & OPTIONAL THX Sound System Pushing 600 Watts (Have you heard the Flex's SONY ITS CRAP) Did I Forget You Can Open The Windows And Moonroof With The Keypad (MONEY WELL SPENT)

BTW, I'm 6'2" and I was able to sqeeze into the last rear seat. I would never actually ride back there, but it could be done. Best for small people and kids. So I wouldn't say it's unusable.

Hey used the both about the same price and I'd go mkt, and not wild about the dash or seats in the flex. I but visibility in the mkt is subpar.

the reviewer sucks! the motor puts out 355 hp not 375! the sho is the only car from ford that puts out more than 355 and it's rated at 365hp. also the interior and dash panel in the mkt is 100%different from the flex also all the sheet metal is diff. also has a taller final drive ratio! DIFFERENT VEHICHLE!!!! how can a car testing proffetional be so misinformed?

Flex and MKT moved up to the 365 horses in 2013 same as the Taurus SHO, but yeah this guy is a doofus stating 375 horses.

@BklynJayL yes indeed it is. and the reason they wouldn't put the 5.0 in the taurus is because it would've been completely shitty gas mileage in such a large car with awd. The mustang is much smaller and lighter as visually obvious and it just is getting about the same gas mileage as the sho engine in the mustang. imagine how bad it would be in a taurus. omg. lol. but i see what you're saying though.

I guess he doesn't realize Mkt is in a class dominated by Audi BMW and Mercedes, it hold two more 'half-pints' in it's third row compared to the 2010 SRX. The Flex is gonna be on every block, the MKT hopefully every neighborhood.. think exclusive think Audi, Mecedes, BMW Caddy.

@ssj4goldengogeta Ford should also make a SVT or, SHO version of the Fusion/MKZ with, the TT. V6 or, a 300+hp'd. 4.6 V8(former 'Stang motor). That would be "BadAzz"!!! Better yet..., if Lincoln really want to compete with Cadillac's CTS-V, BMW M5/M5 and, Benz. AMG..., they could put that 5.0 engine in the MKZ. There goes your "HotRod" Lincoln(0-60 below 4.5 secs., easily)! ;-)

Well. . . eh. Having a third row folded down takes up a lot of valuable real estate, so if it is useless, it still is a detractor. And, they don't bitch about not having a 3rd row unless the car is massive, i.e. some Tahoes/ Escalades w/o the 3rd row,. . This car is big enough to expect a decent 3rd row, so bitching about it having a bad one is expected, especially when its little brother has a better one.

@ssj4goldengogeta Yeah, that's true. I saw a new Ford Taurus, earlier 2night and, that car is HUGE! It look like. it's bigger than a BMW 7-Series! Lol.. The 5.0 would've definitely got terrible gas mileage in the Taurus...but, it also would've lowered it 0-60 time down to around 5 secs. flat or, just below it. ;-)

People spend an extra $10,000 all the time for badge and snob appeal upgrades.... where has this reviewer been? This was a really bad review. The title read "MKT Road Test," and they hardly even talked about how this car actually rides and handles. No talk about road noise, interior quietness, etc. Also it was poor that they failed to mention that the Flex and the MKT do not share a single piece of sheet metal, nor do they share any interior materials.

@ssj4goldengogeta Yeah. That's pretty good but, would've been better if, Ford would've added that 5.0 engine. ;-) I just checked out the new V6 and, V8 versions of the 'Stang, on the dyno. Those 'Stangs are putting out more hp. than FomoCo. predicted! The V6 really pumps out close to 320hp....and, the 5.0 pumps out 436hp.! Also, it's the fastest out of the 3 muscle cars, now. That's a GREAT look for Ford! ;-)

Why did they make this piece of shit??? Ford is going in the right direction but WHO THE FUCK IS IN CONTROL OF LINCOLN in general Lincoln is getting worse not better. You would think with the success of the CTS and Escalade they would move in that direction Caddy started to going to sport lux rwd based cars and they saw a considerable boom in sales.
