Love these stories. Keep them coming. Mr. Wallace please talk about fighting Everette Eddy back in the point fighting days (talk about David & Goliath!) I would love to have seen that match. I read about it in a martial arts magazine.
Truly loving Sensei Wallace's stories! Been binging watching them over the past several weeks. I always wanted to hear his stories so these have been a real treat. They're not just Sensei Wallace's personal recollections, but also slices of American martial arts history. The tournaments, the fights, martial arts icons like Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, and Benny Urquidez, all of this helped build the foundation for today. Personally, I'd like to hear Sensei Wallace's thoughts on his fight against Ray McCallum. Now that was knock down drag out fight! In any case, thank you!
Why in fuck would you want to watch a point contest, where they do one movement, two movement, then stop, and not even hitting each other? Nothing even remotely close to real fighting dude. That's like going back to black & white television.
Mr Wallace, I have a pic taken with you at the 1985 Haynes-Apperson tournament. I was a 7th kyu at the time. My instructor told me to go ask if I could get a pic with you. Some guy in the crowd was talking with you so I stopped about 10 feet away and came to attention stance. You tried to wave me out of it a couple times with a low hand motion. That wasn't gonna happen. Just want to say thanks for being so gracious as to get the pic with me. Oh yeah. Got disqualified competing for 1st. Got up 2-0 but then, back to back light face contact was called. Have a pic of the 1st. Was behind the "catchers mask" but... Ah well. KWOON OF ICHI BIN - Indianapolis was my school. Mr Michael L Branam instructor
Damn, Lewis and Wallace must really suck then, because Bruce Lee used to score on Joe Lewis right and left back when they used to spar in the late 60's.
