Just got my Ultimate Bundle today. I've been a whoopie sling man for over ten years and had no clue what I was looking at when I saw the cinch buckle system. Messed around with them for a few minutes and I see no reason to change anything. I kinda like it! I'm giddy as hell about the whole Superior Gear setup and can't wait to get out in the woods!
The Marine at Backpacking With a Hammock has been talking about these for quite some time now. Think I might just go ahead and get a couple sets of these now. Thanks for the demonstration.
Lots of luck getting this product. Kind of fishy thing. I put in to buy these. The site didn't even take all my information. Right to the carts. no options for mailing or pay. Wouldn't even let me uddate it. maybe it isn't for real. Fly By Night Outfit ? The guy should be good at having a site if he wants business.
Nice job. That hardware looks great. I like simplicity. I like thatyou mention the Beckett Hitch as well which is an ideal way if your comfortable with it. It’s very easy! Stay safe during all this quarantine stuff! 👍🏻
Thank you! I use the Beckett Hitch pretty much any time I'm not reviewing something else, it is my go-to suspension solution. This is any easy to use, well thought out design. Thanks!
Spiguyver Backpacking what straps do you like the most with the Beckett hitch? Polyetelene? Kevlar with mule tape? I just watched your video from 2017. Wondered if you had a favorite strap.
I agree. The "fiddle factor" is right at the top of my list of considerations. That's why I ditched Whoopie Slings years ago. They are super cool, and I made several, but I don't use them.
I'm Beckett hitch all the way since I learned it from you. Six months on the PCT and it never failed me once and was very glad to save a little more weight. I like these though. I might use those for a car camping or short hike/glamping situation. I do like cool hardware.
I know exactly what you mean! Other than when testing new stuff, I'm always with the beckett hitch, however, the gear nerd in me loves the bling! Thanks!
Concur with Jame's assessment. Will be using these when car camping and not necessarily through hiking, as they weigh a bit more. An ounce here and an ounce there adds up pretty quickly when you do your pack out for a through hike. Like you two, though, like trying new gear, especially when it's reasonably priced and well thought out.
You say for beginners, implying that they would naturally evolve to something lighter later. That's only desirable for long haul backpackers. For those who are basically car campers and only pack maybe a mile to find a good spot, a few ounces here and there are not critical, and the more important factors become comfort and convenience. As a note, the Dutchware June Bug system is cheaper, lighter, and also easier to adjust. I have both and like both. Great video, as usual. 😊
Great point! Although I do know a few guys who have super ultralight gear and all they ever do are group hangs, but hey, you do you! Appreciate the input!
that is such a great system (for a hammock novice like me) and reminds me of some of the quick release buckles on old swedish military backpacks. cheers.
Hi Mark....based on you video review, just ordered a set of Superior cinch buckle straps, using your code, of course..... Have been using Dutch's cinch buckles for yrs. Superior's seem to be bigger and heavier but, nevertheless, will try them out. Always like supporting companies that endeavor to make our camping adventures a little easier. Good review.
Just got myself a pair. I have the smr system and they are nice but sometimes a pain when trying to pack everything up in a speedy matter. Hopefully these will help.
It looks like a good setup! I'm still using Dutch's cinch buckles with the dyneema straps and Dutch clips. Like you said it can be a little harder adjusting with weight in the hammock.
@@SpiguyverBackpacking1 Michigan has a strict lockdown, but I'm still working since it's considered an essential business. We are working 12 hour shifts Friday through Sunday.
When you sew the loose end of your webbing to the opposite end of the load-bearing part, you can easily loosen the webbing by just pulling there. The triangle is a great addition, but you'll have to pay for it with some additional weight.
It's always a tradeoff! If you like cinch buckles I think this is a great choice. I have grown to love and use the Beckett Hitch 95% of the time. Thanks!
I often use cinch buckle systems: Titanium Cinch Buckles and Beetle Buckles from DutchWare. With both systems, my trick works nicely. I have shown it with the Titanium Cinch Buckles here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D8VvHYkfuZU.html
Nice video. With those guns, if we ever meet please remind me not to aggravate you. Lol. Fortunately with my Dream Hammock and cinch buckles I've never had to re adjust my Hammock. But please check into Dutch clips for your straps. They make hanging easier.
Right on! The Dutch Clips are a nice addition to keep from having to run through the loops, quick on, quick off, just make sure you follow their directions on where to locate the clip! Thanks!
@@SpiguyverBackpacking1 I have my Dutch clips sewn on my straps, permanently. Love them....so darn fast and easy to move up and around branches on a tree.
Currently i have straps with the Dut h beetle buckles and have to tue them off or they will slip. Has there been any issues with these. It looks like they would work with my Ridgerunner hammock
I don't know why but, mine gradually slips while I'm in the hammock. I'm not a heavy person (80kg) and everything else is performing really well. I just don't know what I might be doing wrong? I set it up indentically as I see here. 0_o
As far as budget hammocks go, there's nothing that touches that for best bang for the buck. But if you want quality, customer service, and customizing, these cottage vendors are the way to go! Thanks!
If you're looking for something to meet the laws of states that require a 2" strap to hang, get tree huggers in 2" and pair them with straps of 1". Some companies make these specifically, Trail to Tree I think is one.
Hi Mark, based on recommendation S I placed an order 15 days ago. I got an order conformation but nothing after. Any idea how long it should take to receive the order? Thanks
I was sold on it based on the ease of grabbing the one piece to loosen. I find the beetle buckle can be hard to loosen. Still using both for comparison though.
Spiguyver Backpacking 😂, there was no way, at least that I could think of, to make that comment without leaving some doubt as to my motivation, so I just kept it short and simple 😊. I guess that you do need to appeal to as broader audience as possible. Not all of us are old fashioned heterosexuals with more hair growing out of our ears nose and back, than head. 🤣
@@SpiguyverBackpacking1Looks like you are taking good care of yourself during quarantine. Hard work is showing. Who cares what you're wearing... Carry on.
