I broke into comics with this run, and while it isn’t a traditional Spidey comic, it brilliantly shows why Peter Parker is an incredible character and offers some of the best character development for doc oc (maybe ever). If you haven’t read this run yet, treat yo self
I absolutely love Stegman and Ramos' art, they are absolutely incredible. I originally wasn't a huge fan of Camuncoli but I've definitely softened up to his style over time and now I like it!
I still don't understand the need for a Quesada cover for another book he didn't work on. This is what, 5 now (Aaron Thor, USM, Fraction Thor, X-Factor)? I like his art, but you've got to admit this is a little excessive, its not even the Superior suit for this one.
Love this run. Really wish Big 2 would go back to making some comics like this again! With real (temporary) changes. It’s just good fun! Great overview, my friend!
I’ll be jumping from Jms to this omni, to avoid the slog that is Brand New Day. Kindred made me skip the Spencer omnis, beyond era I might pick up but shame on what they did to Ben. And Zeb Wells run? Hard no.
A lot of comic controversy is from people who don't read comics. Like even with the Ms Marvel thing, I was more upset at how poorly it was done and how much of a tertiary character she was in her own death. But I also knew she'll probably get a reboot in the next few months.
@@TheArtunism Yeah, I always think of Nick Spencer's Cap run. People went out of their minds with that, and the whole time I'm like "Guys, you want to maybe wait until oh I don't know at least issue #2 before you go ballistic?"
@@TheArtunismThat wasn’t the case with Superior Spider-Man’s announcement since the only people who would care are comic fans. Dan Slott was also very rude on Twitter saying Peter was dead forever and not coming back which he said he had to do in order to sell the comic.
I loved Superior Spider-Man! I really appreciated how Doc Ock was able to accomplish all the personal milestones/successes that eluded Peter. Buying it tomorrow!
Had been waiting for a week for this omniview! But again, Japan was important... So... Glad that finally its out! My copy is coming soon... And to be honest, this is the first time I am feeling that standard edition cover is doing more justice to the omnibus than the DM variant cover!
New volume of Near Mint Condition looks great! Glad to have my copy of this book sitting on the shelf - it's one of the best Spider-Man stores ever. Any new fans should definitely read it for themselves!
I am a HUGE fan of Humberto Ramos's art. What I actually didn't like (and I like 95% of this story line) was the ending. It was set up to answer the question - why is PETER the superior Spider-man over Doc Ock and I just didn't feel the ending that it answered that. It felt forced. But other than that this is a great collection - just hoping the rest of Dan Slott's Big Time Spider-Man run get collected as an omnibus one day.
Hey Omar! I was just wondering if you could make a video on a silver surfer reading order. I’ve always been interested in his character and I don’t really know where to start reading
For me, the reason I almost dropped Spidey during this was due to having Spidey just give up and die. Didn't feel right for his character. What stopped me from dropping it was the next issue after 700 was Avenging (I believe) Spider-man where Otto kicked the crap out of Wolverine, and he did it easily. I do wish they had added the Avenging Spidey issue and put them in release order. Maybe that'll end up as a Superior Spidey companion omni at some point.
Regarding the artwork - I am one those people who isn't huge on Humberto Ramos ... but I don't find it an issue when reading, or would preclude myself from buying based on that. Stegman and Camuncoli's art is great for me by comparison. Plus while Ramos isn't my favorite, I can work with it - Skottie Young on the other hand... a bit too much for me. :P
I love the new intro and I love this book! I sold my two complete collections years ago for a huge profit in anticipation of this getting announced. Can’t wait to reread in my favorite format! 😍
An amazing run. Got in at the right time. I started collecting books as Marvel Now was trickling out. Superior Spider-Man was my gateway to Spider-Man comics and i couldnt put it down. It is because of this run that I'm very interested in a Dan Slott Spider-Man omnibus run.
My copy is on the way! Thanks for the sneak peek! Guessing Volume 2 will contain what was included in the Superior Spider-Man Companion TPB: Avenging Spider-Man #15.1 and #16-22, Daredevil (2011) #22, Superior Spider-Man Team-Up #1-12, Scarlet Spider (2012) #20 and Inhumanity: Superior Spider-Man, followed by the second volume of the main book (2018).
I kind of like the emphasis on darkness in the standard edition; seems more appropriate for such a sea change in the character. Looking forward to this one.
Can someone help me....I'm trying to get into Spider-man comics I heard it's confusing to get into... Just to be clear superior Spider-man vol 1 is its own book right...I'm worried I buy it and maybe there's 30 pages or so that are the story of superior and the rest is random comics of Spider-man...so is this book about superior story?
I absolutely hate Slott's run, this is the only readable part of it. Still not the master piece a lot of people think it is. Will I get this tho? As a Spider-Man completionist most likely...
Love the new intro! Is there a chance we can get the 12 Superior Spider-Man Team-Up issues in Hardcover? Or maybe even the Superior Spider-Man Companion as an OHC? It was released as a Trade Paperback in December 2018. They'd just need to print it again in slightly bigger Hardcover format. That would have been the perfect sell alongside this Omnibus! Even if included in it, it would still be just over 1400 pages. We get Omnibuses that large all the time. What do you think Omar? Is there a reason we are getting less single Volume OHCs than we used to? I already own all 3 OHC Volumes signed by both Slott and Stegman. Since there's no new content added in Omnibus format, it's a pass for now.
Mine came in on the 11th and I was so glad to be able to reread. I have all the superior Spider-Man team up books to read along with the omnibus. But I think for v2 I think we won’t see for a while but will include whatever the next superior Spider-Man project is whenever that comes out and finishes.
Great to see black covers. Fits the tone. Cool extras in the back and a totally unexpected thumbnail cover gallery! It's a buy for me. Thanks for the preview!!
I'm torn if I upgrade from the OHCs as there's the added bonus of the letter pages thst I believe should always be included and the fact it's a much slimmer fit than 3 books. Though just because of having the connecting ASM 700 and Superior 1 I don't want to give it up. Thst connecting cover should have been a DM variant or the art on board, too good to not reuse it!
For Volume 2 I would also include the material from Amazing Spider-man 16-31, Clone Conspiracy and Superior Octopus that explaine how he came back before the second Superior Spider-man series.
Omar, did I miss you talking about what could be in a Vol 2? Lol. I have the 2 Complete Collection TPBs which has exactly what is in this omni, but what could be further from this?
Firstly i was angry when i heard about plot twist in ASM 700. Then i started to read Superior. My feelings was mixed, cause i really missed Peter, but i saw Octavius from very intriguing side. That was something. Then it ended. I know many people hate the ending, but honestly, i was really happy when Peter came back, but after years i remember this series with warm. This was really one of the best Spider-Man storylines ever and i think its modern classic.
Hey Omar..curious to ask..but do you think you will do a John Romita Sr upload about him and his comic history? I have i yet to hear anyone talk about him since he just passed.
100% imo. Its printed as a vol 1. There is enough with Avenging Spider-Man, Superior Team Up, Vol 2, and maaaybe a bit of -Geddon and Superior Ock. I think the upcoming run maaaay get a vol 3 but we’ll see how long it runs
there’s plenty, especially with Slott writing another run in the fall. Mapping depends on if they include Superior Team-Up stories or throw them into MTU line/companion. > collects Amazing Spider-Man (2015) #18, #20, #29-31; Clone Conspiracy #1-5; Superior Octopus #1; Superior Spider-Man (2018) #1-12; Superior Spider-Man (2023) #1-12; material from Amazing Spider-Man #24-26, #800.
Yo the new intro and graphics are fire! 🔥🔥🔥 Props to you or whoever put them together. I've been waiting ages for this book as I've never read this run. Almost caved and bought the complete collections for a ridiculous amount of money on eBay a couple of times but thankfully I didn't. So I was over the moon when you announced this!😄 Gotta get UXM Vol 5 and a couple others out of the way first but I'll definitely be picking this up. Not sure about volume 2 as I only want the original run, but I'll see how I feel when it's officially announced. Thanks Omar!👍🏾
Hi Omar i know its not spider-man but did you get to add to the list the one shot comic that was missing from the star wars omnibus vol 2 ? its the last Jedi the storms of crait one shot.
I actually ordered this recent and it came in the mail last week! I’ve been reading it for the first time and I’m really enjoying it! The art style is very impressive and the story is almost immediately engaging. Really liking it so far.
Hi I'm planning on buying the book too was just wondering some comics books has a bunch of random spider-man comics wondering is this book just all about superior spider-man?
For someone that doesn’t collect a lot of Spider-Man, I like them, but don’t need them, but also don’t want to miss out on a really good story, can someone tell me if this is one that I don’t want to miss, or anybody’s top 2 or 3 Spider-Man modern omnibus?
I get a kick out of Omar saying he “announces” these books. I mean he does get to reveal them but it just sounds kinda funny like he’s the one choosing and selling the books.
Too bad the new books suck so much.i cancelled my pull again, i cant keep supporting garbage. Only older stuff for me i guess, looking forward to ultimate spidey vol 3 as well
I think it was one of the best. I mean it wasn't Peter so of course the tone would be more edgy and different. A nice change and a run I'll constantly return to but that just me.🙂
